Chapter 25

Mia’s P.O.V.

We were on a limited time schedule. We had spent about three days in London and I enjoyed every second. Luca took me to many little shops and tourist attractions. We even got a guard to smile. We were currently walking through a park, enjoying the scenery. I saw a streak of blonde and white and I whipped my head around to see what it was. A little girl about the age of three hugging Luca’s legs. He swayed a little bit and stuck a hand to a fence railing to steady himself. I grinned at him as the little girl giggled and looked up at him. She had beautiful blonde hair, pulled back into two pigtails and was wearing a little white coat. She looked up at Luca with gorgeous brown eyes and beamed.

“Hi!” She laughed, bouncing a little.

Luca looked at me for help. I shook my head and nodded towards the little girl. He shook his head, bewildered and unsure of what to do. He picked the little girl up.

“What’s your name sweetie?” He asked, softly.

“Daisee.” She replied in a wind-chime-like voice. “What’s yours?”

            “Luca.” He smiled.

I glanced at Luca’s face. He was staring intently at the little girl in his arms.

“Where’s your mama?” He asked, his eyes still on her. I smiled a bit on how good he was with children.

            “Over there.” Daisee pointed.

“Ok, let’s go get Mama.” Luca said, starting to walk away from me, but stopping as the cold handcuffs pulled. I sighed and followed them.

When the woman saw Daisee she cried out, reaching for her. Luca gently placed her in the hysterical woman’s arms as she hugged her close.

“Daisee, don’t run off like that again! I was worried sick!” The woman said, an accent lilting through her voice.

Daisee pouted. “I wanna go with Luca.” She replied, reaching for Luca. He looked stunned, while the mother took a look at us.

“No honey, I’m sure they have something else to do.” The mom said and tried to put the little girl in the stroller. Daisee starting screaming and kicking and fussing.

“Luca, Luca, I wanna go with Luca!” She protested, wiggling around in the woman’s arms. The mom exhaled roughly, finally picking her back up and then turning to both of us.

“Thank you so much for bringing Daisee back to me. Looks like she doesn’t want to leave!” The woman laughed.

Luca chuckled and I smiled. “Your welcome.” we replied.

Daisee’s brown eyes were gazing at Luca, and she reached out her arms towards him, her body leaning out of her mother’s arms. Luca reached out for her, the mother cautiously setting her daughter into his arms. Daisee immediately stuck her arms around Luca’s neck and laid her head on his collarbone. Luca smiled and leaned his head against hers, humming softly to her. The mother and I grinned at each other, and then staring back as we heard a gasp. Daisee’s awestruck face was staring at a bright blue butterfly. Luca held out his finger and the butterfly landed silently on it. Daisee watched and smiled as the butterfly flapped his wings. Her clumsy little fingers stretched and barely made contact with the azure and the butterfly took flight. I smiled and tried to ignore the cramping in my arm from having to support half of Daisee’s weight.
