MAYA'S POV

I had woken up that morning to an empty house.

When I reached the kitchen, I'd noticed the note Nikki left for me.

Will be at recording studio all day.
                                                              -Nikki

I found it sort of sweet that he'd left a note, or that he even bothered to leave one really.

I had took Nikki Sixx for a completely different person than what he actually was.

I mean of course he used substances and probably fucked around a lot, but he was actually really sweet when he was alone and away from all of that.

I just hoped that those things wouldn't interfere with me living with him.

As I walked out of the shower, I'd noticed white powder on the counters from yesterday night.

I was trying to get clean, truly. But I'd eventually finally slipped up last night.

To me, getting clean was another part of this new life. I felt that drugs somewhat correlated to all of the bad relationship problems I once had.

After changing and getting myself ready for the day, I traveled out of my room and into the living room to just relax and watch some TV, anything to get my mind off of drugs.

I relaxed into the couch cushions, grabbing the remote as I did so.

As I switched through the channels, I couldn't help but to think about how lucky I was.

It was a wonder I was still even fucking alive after the amount of drugs I'd ingested throughout my life. I mean, I'm pretty sure I'd been on something since I was about twelve, and now I'm soon to be twenty five in a couple of months.

Speaking of which, I'd realized I'd probably be spending my birthday here with Nikki. Of course I wasn't complaining, but it made me a bit sad because I couldn't help but remember what Robert had once told me.

Robert and I had actually first met each other around my birthday, and whenever we officially got together, he said he'd be there for me no matter what. Through all of the birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, funerals, whatever it may be. And now he wasn't here.

But it's alright, I had Nikki...it'd all be fine, yeah.

I was suddenly snapped out of my thoughts when I'd heard the phone ringing.

I wasn't sure if I should answer it or not, since whoever was calling was probably calling for Nikki. But eventually I caved, having a slight hope that Nikki himself might actually be the one calling.

"Hello?" I spoke gently with a kind, welcoming tone.

"Maya."

It was Robert.

NIKKI'S POV

We'd finished recording all of the songs, which wasn't many, we planned to more quickly that we thought we would, so I had the pleasure of leaving pretty early.

I drove down the city streets, growing more and more impatient to get home as the traffic was beginning to build up.

I'd planned on throwing a party that afternoon, so I needed to get home and get everything situated before.
