type one diabetes is an auto-immune disease where the pancreas doesn't produce any insulin. you don't get it from eating too much sugar-that's type two. in this preference, you'll have a dexcom and a tandem insulin pump. (pictures below) it's not contagious and you just have to keep your blood sugars in range.

jack : he would be annoyed at first with all the constant beeping coming from your phone, letting you know what you're blood sugar is. he'll get used to it and eventually have the app on his phone to follow your blood sugars. he would also get you snacks.
