Why the leaves turn brilliant shades of red, than tumble to the floor? Why the sunsets fade in seconds, but the dark lasts for hours? Why the moon is only up when you sleep? I've grown up knowing that looking different, being beautiful, is a death sentence. Elena was no stranger to beauty. Growing up in the kingdom of Alyra, she had learned to admire the small colorful treasures found in the leaves of autumn trees, the small weeds that occasionally spring up along the gray concrete walls of her living compound. When everything around her is gray and brown, she saw the beauty in the indistinguishable brown eyes that surrounded her. But she, like all other children, know that beauty is different, and different is dangerous. After all, if your eyes weren't brown, you'd never see light again.

I wrote this during the last quarantine, as an exercise for college the inspiration was our environment this is one of two. (I also made the cover too)

After waking up with a ghastly feeling of an overwhelming hunger and an uncontrollable thirst that raged like a fire in her unsatisfied stomach, Annie knew something unforgiving had happened to her. Something evil... Despite her better judgement, Annie was bestowed with a sinful act that screamed with unatoned sins. The drastic changes threw her uninteresting world into a sudden frenzy, and bodies after lifeless bodies stained the nails in her hands and the tongue in her mouth. Even now, Annie still craved for the bitter taste of death. However, there was a man who could bring her sanity back... The only man who could calm the impulsive urge inside of her... Unfortunatly for Annie, it just happened to be the same man who had killed her.
