Chapter 19: Be Your Everything

Alex's POV...
Last night was fantastic! The fireflies made me realized one thing: I could love again.
I know it's hard to trust a man again. But maybe this time I could.
Well, asawa ko na naman siya kaya natural lang na pagkatiwalaan ko na siya di ba? And we've agreed to make this work.
I have to trust him on that though there's still a part of me that says I have to gurad my sanity.
And speaking of sanity, I already gave in again. Damn this traitorous body!
Naisip ko lang ulit, asawa ko naman siya di ba? Kumbaga, honeymoon night namin kagabi.
Oh well, memories of last night flash back. Oh my, not now we're in the mall.
I could feel my cheeks turn crimson. And I hate what I'm feeling right now, I'm hot all over by just mere remembering those.
Calm down, Alex. Calm down. Andrew's just right beside you. Baka magtaka pa yan kung napapano ka.
"Pretty babe, are you okay?" he asked.
Takte. Yan na nga ba sinsabi ko e.. Bat ba kasi ang dali kong tablan.
"Yes, I'm okay babe. Don't mind me," I answered.
"I'll mind everything about you pretty babe. Cause you're my wife," he said. Concern and sincerity written all over his face.
Is he for real? He's been this gentleman and caring from the start. Maybe it's in his nature.
But I can't ignore the fact that I'm getting used to it and beginning to love it. Also, maybe I'm beginning to fall for this man, my husband.
We strolled inside the mall. Checked upon stalls and just try things on.
Wala kaming binibili. Kasi sabi ko sa kanya dapat tiisin naming wag gumastos. Game naman siya.
Kaso ako ang dehado, nate-tempt akong mag-shopping. Nakakainis talaga ako minsan. Argh!
Then we went to a jewelry shop. They all sparkle and glitter. But one thing outshine them all.
I fell in love with the white gold necklace with a pear-shaped diamond pendant.
Argh! I want it. But I have to keep up with my promise or else I would lose and disappoint Andrew.
I just stared at it. Pinagsawa ko na lang ang mga mata ko sa pagtingin. Bibilhin kita bukas. Pag wala na si Andrew sa tabi ko, promise yan.
When I turned around, I saw him looking intently at me and at the necklace I adore. I shifted my gaze to the other jewelries.
Sana hindi niya mahalata. Sana naman hindi.
Lumabas na lang ako ng stall para magpahangin at umiwas sa kanya.
Naglakad-lakad na lang ako. Bakit naman kaya di ako sinundan non? Hmp.
Baka siya ang nagtampo? Baka akala niya iniwan ko siya mag-isa? Hayyy, makabalik na nga.
When I spun around to ger back to the stall. He's behind me, goofing around.
"Ai butike!" I exclaimed. Nakakagulat kasi siya.
"Ang gwapo naman ng butiki kung ganon," sabi niya.
Tama naman siya, kung lahat ng butiki kasing-gwapo niya, malamang wala ng matatakot sa mga butiki.
He stared at me, wearing that panty-dropping smile. Argh! I'm drooling again.
"Let's go Yoshinori," I said and tugged his hand.
Naglakad-lakad lang kami ulit sa mall. Then we went for coffee.
A silent coffee date at Starbucks. Usually, pag ganitong tahimik, na-aappreciate ko dahil nakakapag-isip nga ako.
Naiisip ko lang, hanggang kailan kaya kami tatagal ni Andrew? I mean, hanggang kailan kami mananatiling kasal?
I'm not closing my mind for those divorce stuffs. I knew men, I knew them well enough to overlook such thoughts.
Alam ko naiisip niya yun. Lalaki siya, marami pa siyang makikilalang iba. Mas higit sa akin.
That thought of him finding someone else brought a bitter feeling. And I felt a bile rise to my throat.
I have to keep myself well-guarded. Jealousy alert level.
And then he just walked away from me. Oh no, what happened again?
Ano bang nagawa ko at iniwan lang ako bigla ng lalaking yun? Tiniis ko na nga ang silent treatment niya ngayon sa coffee shop tapos ganon pa?
Iiwan akong mag-isa? Argh! Ano bang problema mo Yoshinori?
I stomped my foot and walked away. I'll just go home!
As I was about three blocks away from the premises of the coffee shop, I heard my name being called out.
Andrew's POV...
I went upstage to do my surprise for her. I just left. I never said a word to her. She must've been upset right now.
Hindi nga ako nagkamali, paalis na siya ng mall. Then I called out her name.
"Ms. Alexandria Olchondra," I said.
She stopped on her tracks and turned around to look for me. Her eyes wandered around and found me.
I smiled my most beautiful smile at her. She frowned.
I mouthed 'I love you' to her. She smiled and flipped her hair.
She pouted her pink lips and smiled widely.’ I love you too' she mouthed in return.
And that little response meant so much to me. We walked towards each other and was just turned in abrupt halt when the cord of the microphone restrained my strides.
She laughed. And walked towards me.
That's when I started singing..

I will pretty babe. I vow to this day, I will never leave you. I will never cheat on you, I promise. I promise that it'll just you I'll love and no one else.
We're now standing face to face. Love visible in our eyes.
Then my mouth descended on hers. She kissed me back. We're both oblivious on our surroundings.
We kissed until we're both panting for oxygen. When we parted, we saw a commotion of people watching us.
Some taking pictures and most of them recorded it.
And I'm sure, it'll be a headline tomorrow.
I could hear them talking how sweet I am to serenade her. How lucky I am to her because she's gorgeous and elegant.
I knew she heard them too because blush crept up on her cheeks.
I cleared my throat, all eyes turned to me.
"Alex, pretty babe, I want this whole crowd to know and even the whole world itself know that I love you," I said in a raspy voice.
She just smiled. Her eyes sparkled and already wet, tears threatening to fall.
Then people chorused: KISS!
Psshh. Lame request. But I also want to kiss her again. Actually, I won't get tired of kissing her.
I'm into it as if it;s my lifeline.
Again, someone giggled and shouted: Propose na!
What? Propose? We're already married. No need for that. But I can't say that in front of them. Our parents might know it.
Lagot kami pareho pag nagkataon.
"We're already engaged," I announced. I lifted my left hand to show them our engagement ring.
They all cheered and bid us their happy wishes for the two of us.
She whispered to me and clasped her hand to mine.
"Babe, let's go home. I don't want this kind of attention. Nahihiya na ako, kanina pa ako namumula. Baka pagkauwi natin, kamatis na ako," she said while peeking from the crowd.
I smiled then held her tighter.
"At the count of three, okay?" I said to her. She nodded.
"One..two.." then I tugged her hand and we ran fast. We ran away from the crowd and headed for the parking lot.
When we reached the car, we gasped for air.
"Ang daya mo, sabi mo at the count of three. Bat hanggang two lang?" she teased.
"Well, it worked. You see, we got away from them that easily," I answered.
She just shrugged her shoulders and went inside.
The whole ride was quite again. She'll just drink water, stare at the road, drink, then stare.
When we got home, she prepared dinner and we ate agin in silence.
Napagod siguro siya.
After dinner she locked up in her room and maybe took a bath.
An hour later, she went outside the verandah and stared at the stars in the sky.
I went to her and hugged her from behind and kissed her shoulder.
She leaned into me and wrapped her hands to my arms.
We stared at the stars and she lifted her hand tracing a constellation.
"That's our star, can you see it?" she asked.
"Star? That pear-shaped star?" I asked innocently.
"Yes, it will be our star. I just hope I could reach it and have it in our room's ceiling," she said.
"You can have it pretty babe," I said.
"Huh?" her voice sound confused.
"I said you could have it," I said while fishing for my pocket.
I pulled the box and opened it in front of her.
I saw her eyes went wide and tears formed above her eyelids.
Iyakin talaga si pretty babe.
"Why babe?" she asked in a breathless manner.
"Why? Because I can. Why? Because I want to make you happy. Why? Because I know you fell in love with its beauty that's why I purchased it just for you," I explained.
"It's too much. Babe, please. But thank you so much," she said as tears rolled down her cheek.
"I bought this to make you smile and see you smile. Don't cry pretty babe, you're getting ugly. Accept it, it's my gift to you. It's our star, now you have our star," I said as I unchained it and turned her around to put it around her neck.
"See? It suits you. It looks more beautiful in you. Wear it every day, wag mo huhubarin, okay? Para na ding wedding ring natin ya. Now that you have our star, always remember that I'll be as constant as this star in your life," I said sincerely.
I kissed her forehead and hugged her tightly.
"I love you Alex," I whispered in her hair.
"I love you too," she replied as she buried her face in my chest.
