"Chris told me two days ago to never leave him alone with Cheyenne again and I've still yet to know why." I said to Mia as I put Cheyennes' clothes in the washing machine.
"You know men don't know how to deal with babies so when they do, they either fuck up everything, don't know something, or get frustrated or all of the above. But, he'll be okay—whatever he went through is only half of it. Try being a full time parent." She said and I nodded in agreement.
"Exactly! Whatever his reasoning, he still has to get in the habit because he is her parent so he'll be with her alone many times."
"He'll get accustomed to it gradually, he's just being a punk. Wanna go to the beach?" She asked
"Actually, yeah. We can go to my beach house!" I said
"That's more like it. I don't feel like being bothered with a lot of outside people today."
"Me neither." I said, closing the washing machine and turning the light out as we walked out.
"How's the job search coming along?"
"Oh yeah! I forgot to mention that I have an interview in about a week. The place is about 15 minutes from here and it's for an executive account manager position. The salary is around 80,000. It's not too bad. I can live off of it." I explained
She raised her eyebrows, "Not bad! I don't even have to wish you luck because you've already bagged this position especially with the experience you have under your tool belt. The icing on the cake is that you ran an entire company so skip the good luck—congrats on the new job." She excitedly smiled
I smiled in return, I love the positivity.
"Thank you so much!"
"No problem, and I of course wouldn't mind coming to watch Cheyenne once you figure out your schedule."
"Well I'm salary based and I'm a morning person so I'll likely be working from 9 to 5. I don't want to inconvenience your working schedule though, and Chris likely won't be able to make it here all the time either so, I'll look into getting a babysitter." I explained
I paused and sighed, "I should've actually thought this through. I may not even be comfortable with leaving her with a babysitter so soon, and she's only a month, going on two in a few weeks, I...ugh." I said and rolled my eyes
"What is the issue? I said I'd do it."
"As I said I don't want to inconvenience you or him."
"Well firstly, she's my niece slash goddaughter and she's his daughter. If you need our help, we don't mind. I can periodically alter my schedule. I can do nights some days and his ass is going to fix his schedule according to our needs." She explained
"But so soon?"
"How long are you suppose to wait when you have bills to pay?" She asked and placed her hand on her hip
I nodded, "You're right. I'm tired of digging in my savings."
"Exactly. So girl go get that job." She said as if she brushed my concerns off.
"Thank you. I don't know how to show my appreciation." I said
But her birthday is next month, I can figure out something for her.
"You don't have to, let's get to this beach house." She excitedly said
••••
"You know, this was a great idea. I don't know why I didn't think of it. No social interactions and you don't have to worry about where you'd be putting Cheyenne while she's asleep or where you're going to go change her. This is just like your house, except it's on a beach. I could stay here all day." Mia said as we got settled inside.
"Now you see why I loved it here so much." I said as I unstrapped Cheyenne.
I got her settled in on her pillow and swing, which is the only thing I brought besides her diaper bag.
I put my swimsuit on and waited on the back deck while Mia put hers on.
"That is cay-ute!" Mia said as she came out, observing my one piece.
"Thank you, I bought it last year, I'm surprised I'm able to fit into it. I'm just not ready to show off my stretch marks yet so I thought this was durable." I explained
"No need to explain, but I love it. You should take some pictures."
"Really? I don't feel cute though to take some."
"But you definitely are, come on, pose for me." She said and pulled her phone out
"Mia, I feel and look fat."
"But you aren't, it's like you lost your baby weight the moment you had the baby." She said
I chuckled, "No, there's still some there for sure."
She rolled her eyes, brushing me off, "Taylor, you look gorgeous. Pose!" She said
I did a few quick basic poses. I eventually heard Cheyenne crying. Great! I was starting to feel awkward.
"Hey, baby." I smiled as I picked her up
I took out her bottle and quickly warmed it to begin feeding her.
I walked to the back porch, "I'm thinking of just putting her in the baby carrier and going down to the water." I said, "I'm only putting my feet in anyway." I added
"That sounds perfectly fine." Mia agreed
After she finished eating I strapped the baby carrier onto myself and placed her inside it. Mia took some chairs down near the water and we sat, talked and drank Mimosas.
"I should've asked before, do you think you'll be able to handle her under the influence?" Mia asked me
"What? This is like juice to my system, it won't do anything for me. And even if it does, I've handled her with more in my system than a mimosa."
She raised her eyebrows, "You have? When?"
"Well I sometimes have a glass of wine before bed to calm my nerves, especially when I'm there alone, she's asleep and I've had a long day. Well not just a glass, about two to three sometimes. Then she gets up 30 minutes to an hour later and now I'm tipsy, caring for her." I explained
"Oh! Drink up then." She chuckled and gestured for a toast.
We clinked our glasses together and finished talking.
"Oh, I sent you the pictures." She said
"What pictures?"
She sucked her teeth, "The pictures I took of you."
"Oh, I forgot about those for a second."
She playfully rolled her eyes, "Well I remembered and I think you should post the last one." She said
I pulled my phone out and went to our messages. I skimmed through the pictures, I looked awkward in all of them. But, the last one was kind of cute.
I stared at it for a few seconds to make sure I really liked it and didn't find something wrong with it, though if I stared at it long enough I'd begin to hate everything about it.
"I'll post it." I said
Mia excitedly clapped, "I was hoping you would."
I didn't even have to think of a caption, I already had one in mind.
@ WatchTaylor__ : Doing better and all outta ya' feelings 🤎🦋
"I love the caption! It's actually true!" Mia said
I chuckled, "Dang, it hasn't even been up for 2 minutes."
"I was thirsty." She smiled
@ MamaMiaa commented "babymama 😍😍😍😩" under your photo.
"I hate you." I laughed
She smiled, "I had to."

Chris
I decided to take a quick break from staring at these papers. It'll drive you insane. I closed the folder and went to the kitchen to get something to eat or drink—or both.
I grabbed what I wanted and went back into my room and sat in the chair at my desk. I'll scroll on my phone for a few minutes I guess.
I jumped from app to app. Mainly just Twitter and Instagram. I rarely post, that's if I do, I only have the apps to look at other people.
Speaking of other people, I scrolled past a picture of some brown skinned girl in a swimsuit, I liked it and kept scrolling. She was cute.
"Hol' up, she look familiar." I said and scrolled back up quickly
"Well damn!" I said, realizing who it was.
I had to comment!
'Glad I had a baby by somebody so gorgeous 😍🤤🥵...'
I could've said something else but I want the other niggas that may see it or comment to know nigga that's STILL mine and I'm so much of that nigga that she had my baby. No other niggas stand a chance.
I stared at the picture for a few more minutes, observing everything about it. From the blue polish on her toes, to the way the swimsuit hugged her body to her hair—damn, I miss that.

I wanted to reply, but instead I just liked the comment and the others under it.
"I'm going to block my brother." Mia laughed
"He knows what he's doing, he didn't have to comment that." She added
I chuckled, "It's fine. No big deal, I don't want him or anyone so their comments don't bother me." I said
"Plus, I know he's still in his overprotective mode. I just had a baby by him and he doesn't want anyone else to have me." I explained
"That's exactly why he's doing it. Little does he know, you don't want him either."
"Sure don't."
Speaking of him, he just texted me.
Cheyenne's father: Hey, see you all outta ya feelings.
5:46 PM
