Hikaru stood in left felid as Eijun got ready to pitch. Hikaru wondered what would come from this at bat, between Eijun and Raichi…Hikaru couldn’t help but smirk, as his heart smashed against his rib cage. Hikaru went to raise his right arm to punch his left into the glove, but as soon as Hikaru moved his right arm sharp pains went through his arm.
‘What the heck…where did these come from? I thought I got over theses! Or could it be that the adrenaline is slowly masking the pain…’Hikaru thought
About that time Miyuki called a time out and all of Seido met on the mound. They were buying time till Coach Kataoka made his decision. It was about that time they heard a pair of cleats move in the dugout. Seido looked to see a familiar pink haired freshman running over.
“Haruichi!”Eijun said “What are you doing here! Am I switching with you? You’re a fielder!”
Hikaru sighed and looked over at Jun and Furuya. Jun looked ready to kill Eijun while Furuya was hoping he would so he could pitch again. Haruichi was shocked by Eijun’s words. However, Kuramochi saved the day by kicking Eijun in the lower back.
“I-I’m here to tell you the coach’s orders.”Haruichi replied
“Boss’ last will…”Eijun said
Hikaru couldn’t believe what Eijun had just said.
‘I’m not even going to react to that.’ Hikaru thought
“Just ignore him.”Ryosuke said simply
“It gets easier to do that over time.”Hikaru replied
Seido listened closely to what Haruichi had to say. Eijun was shocked by the news.
“That’s it?”Eijun asked
“Yes, that’s it.”Haruichi replied
“So that means…”Eijun said “The boss really said that?”
“Well if he tells you too much you won’t understand.”Miyuki replied
“I’m surprised he understood that much.”Hikaru replied
Eijun shot the two a dirty look, which the two ignored.
“Basically, just pitch with confidence.”Miyuki said “But keep your eyes on my mitt.”
“Be confident.”Yuki said
“Yeah, we’ve got your back.”Masuko said
Haruichi went to run off, but looked back one more time at his two friends, the Sawamura twins. Eijun was standing on the mounds with Ryosuke slapping him in the head and saying:
“We’re still up by five runs.”
Kuramochi kicked him in the back and said:
“Don’t get nervous!”
Haruichi then looked at Hikaru, something bothered Haruichi about Hikaru….to Haruichi it seemed like Hikaru was protecting the right shoulder….but that’s impossible right? But Haruichi didn’t have time to think about that. Before finishing running of the field Haruichi shouted:
“Good luck, Eijun.”
Seido sighed happily then went slowly back to their places; however, they were stopped by a loud voice:
“THANK YOU, BOSS! I WILL NOT FAIL YOU, BOSS! I WILL DEFINITELY NOT!”
All of Seido flinched at this. It made it even worse with the crowd laughing at them…..
“I wanna kill him….”Hikaru replied “But I’ve got another monster to deal with.”
Hikaru froze; His mind was going over with thoughts on how to catch the ball if it came to him.
“KILL HIM!”Jun shouted
Furuya had a killer aura about him. Kuramochi, Masuko, and Hikaru wouldn’t lie although the loved teasing Eijun and that they did a lot off…they wished they could take some of the pressure off of him right now…but in the long run they knew there was nothing they could do. Hikaru could feel the tension between Raichi and Eijun….but to Hikaru it seemed to get worse once Eijun started to get worse once his brother started to get ready for his pitch. Eijun threw his pitch and Hikaru could tell the excitement that was beaming off of Raichi. Hikaru braced himself as his brother threw the ball full of his heart and soul only to have Raichi hit it. Everyone in Seido was shocked, Hikaru moved to catch the ball, Hikaru saw that he wouldn’t be able to get the ball so he jumped for it…however the ball flew past him at speeds that were unrealistic to Hikaru. Hikaru landed on the ground hard on his right shoulder….but he didn’t have time to think of the pain that was now pulsing in his shoulder,nor the black dots that he was seeing in his vision. However that changed once he heard Raichi shout:
“NO! NOT THAT PITCH.”
Masuko ran over to him.
“Hikaru you okay?”Masuko asked
Hikaru stood up and nodded, not trusting his voice.
‘I wanted to catch that where brother wouldn’t have to pitch against Raichi, but I was to slow…’Hikaru thought
Eijun threw his next pitch, and again Raichi hit it foul.
“NOT THAT. EITHER!” Raichi shouted once he hit the ball
All of Seido thought one thing…
‘He’s hitting Eijun’s throws perfectly!’
Eijun looked back at his twin shocked…
‘Brother don’t be afraid of Raichi’s swing….But I’m not saying don’t pitch without caution.’Hikaru thought
Hikaru knew what Eijun was thinking….he was thinking back to what Haruichi had told them.
*Flashback*
“What did the boss say?”Eijun asked
“Oh, Right.”Haruichi replied “He told me to tell you guys just one thing.”
Hikaru was didn’t know why, but the smirk on Haruichi’s face sent relief through his system.
“I’m going…..With Sawamura Eijun this inning…”Haruichi said
*End Flashback*
Hikaru couldn’t help but stare at Eijun as he gained the biggest grin on his face.
‘Brother?’Hikaru wondered
Hikaru braced himself for the next pitch.
‘I won’t let brother’s once chance to show everyone that he is not a show up…I will help him get Raichi out!’Hikaru thought
Hikaru watched Eijun and Miyuki…..Miyuki stood up and Hikaru couldn’t believe what Miyuki was asking.
‘A high inside pitch against Raichi…are you stupid!’Hikaru thought
Hikaru and the others got ready, they knew it wouldn’t be a strike out, but they were ready for what ever came there way….However, Hikaru felt something different coming from Eijun….
‘What is this?’Hikaru wonder
Then Hikaru realized it….it was the pitch Raichi was hoping for….
‘Remember Brother throw your arm all the way down.’ Hikaru prayed
Eijun threw the ball and liked Hikaru wanted him to he threw his arm all the way down like he was suppose to….but something made Hikaru cringe…It was the way Raichi was going after it…..
‘NO HE’S GONNA HIT IT!’Hikaru yelled
But the result wasn’t like Miyuki and the others had hoped, it was like Hikaru predicted, Raichi slammed the ball. Hikaru and Jun moved.
“RIGHT FIELD!”Eijun shouted
But as Eijun looked back he saw it was Furuya.
“IT’S YOU FURUYA!”Eijun shouted
“IT’S GOING BACK FARTHER THAN YOU THINK!”Hikaru shouted
“WHAT EVER YOU DO DON’T LOSE THE BALL!”Jun shouted
The two tried to run to help Furuya, but as they were running they could only watch in dread as Furuya backed up the catch the ball. But Hikaru knew that it wouldn’t work, only a jump would catch the ball…and he was right as it hit the right behind Furuya’s glove in the home run area. Hikaru quickly turned to Eijun….It was then Hikaru noticed Eijun, Hikaru felt his mind click into the same mode of Eijun...
‘Brother….he’s crushed….brother…..There is no way brother is coming back from this in one piece.’ Hikaru thought
Hikaru heard the others calling for Eijun….
“Eijun.”Miyuki called first which made Eijun look at him “Sorry that was my call mistake.”
“Don’t worry about that one, Eijun.”Yuki called
“We’re still up by two runs.”Ryosuke said
“He’s the crazy one for hitting balls, anyways.”Kuramochi said
“Keep sending balls our way.”Masuko replied
“No runners, so now let’s go one at a time.”Jun shouted
“Nice try.”Furruya shouted
Everyone looked to see what Hikaru would shout…but nothing came out of the youngest Sawamura’s mouth….All Hikaru was doing was staring at Eijun….To Hikaru he looked like someone who had just witness a horrible sight….and Hikaru knew easily what it was…Neither Sawamura was loud nor could where they at their best….everyone noticed, but no one wanted to say anything to them. Eijun couldn’t throw right, nor could Hikaru move like he needed to. Eijun was crushed even more when he heard:
“Pitcher change Kawakami!”
Hikaru watched in pain as Eijun went off the field. Jun glanced at the left fielder. The score was now Yakushi 3 to Seido 6.
'You guys are idiots...kind words...now? Normally when brother makes a mistake you yell at him...why am i feeling numb right now? I should feel mad or angry, but I just feel numb...'Hikaru thought
Kawakami walked onto the field and started to warm up. Hikaru couldn’t focus his head was a jumble of thoughts….Hikaru couldn’t control the wave of emotions that were building up inside of him. Kawakami was now throwing, and a ball was coming straight for him. However Jun made it first and threw it to Miyuki, but it was too late the runner had already made it home. Hikaru’s mind was becoming even more jumbled as the crowd started to cheer for Yakushi…
‘One out, runner on second and third….it’s over.’Hikaru thought
Hikaru felt like large pound weights were being placed on his as the crowd cheered for Yakushi...Hikaru heard Miyuki yell something, but for some reason the command didn’t register in his mind. Hikaru watched as Masuko jumped up caught an out then hit the base getting the runner on third out. Everyone was in shock….and was cheering loudly, but to Hikaru it was dull. Hikaru walked off the field as everyone else ran off. Hikaru walked off the field and straight to Eijun who was cooling off his shoulder. Hikaru sat down beside him. Hikaru took off his hat and whipped his face clean of the sweat.
Miyuki and the others glanced back at the Sawamura siblings…to the Miyuki and the others, Hikaru and Eijun looked dead and defeated….Miyuki also noticed something else…
‘Why does it look like Hikaru’s shoulder is swollen?’Miyuki wondered
