Jaundice Part 2/Forever Fall Part 1

By JTSmith22

The view opens to a uniformed, sleeping Jaune Arc with his head resting in his hands while a constantly-zooming and fast-talking Professor Bartholomew Oobleck is in the middle of his hyperactive lecture, educating Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, Pyrrha Nikos, Velvet Scarlatina, the whole of Team STLL, and a leaned-back Cardin Winchester directly behind Jaune.

"Yes! Yes, prior to the Faunus Rights Revolution--more popularly known as the Faunus War--" Using his ridiculous speed he zooms up to the front of the class and the map covered in papers behind his desk.

"--humankind was quite, quite adamant about centralizing Faunus population in Menagerie." He points at the map of said-area with his stick, then zooms off to the side for a sip of his coffee before appearing in front of the desk.

"Now! While this must feel like ancient history to many of you, it is imperative to remember that these are relatively recent events! Why, the repercussions of the uprising can still be seen to this day!" Again he zooms freakishly fast around the classroom more, sipping his coffee again before continuing to zoom and talk.

"Now! Have any among you been subjugated or discriminated against because of your Faunus heritage?"

Some of the silhouetted students raise their hands. Velvet, after a moment, does the same.

"Dreadful, simply dreadful! Remember, students, it is precisely this kind of ignorance that breeds violence!" He takes another sip of his secret recipe coffee.

"I mean, I mean, I mean just look at what happened to White Fang! Now, which one of you young scholars can tell me what many theorize to be the turning point in the third year of the War?" A hand is raised.

"Yes?" Weiss is excited to blurt out the answer.

"The battle at Fort Castle!"

"Precisely! And, who can tell me the advantage the Faunus had over General Lagune's forces?"

Unseen by the professor, Cardin flicks a paper football at Jaune's head, causing him to wake up and shout.

"Hey!"

Oobleck does his signature zoom over into Jaune's face.

"Mr. Arc! Finally contributing to class! This is excellent! Excellent! What is the answer?"

Jaune panics.

"Uhhhh... The answer... The advantage... that the Faunus..." He looks behind Oobleck's focused face at Pyrrha, who coughs and motions to her lips as she gives him the answer.

"...had over that guy's stuff..." He sees Pyrrha cup her hands around her eyes and goes for the most obvious answer.

"Uhh... Binoculars!"

While Jaune looks pleased with his answer, the class laughs at him and Oobleck (somehow immediately back at the front of the class) sips his coffee. Pyrrha sighs and slaps a hand to her forehead as Cardin pounds his fist on his desk while laughing. Oobleck is suddenly back at Jaune's desk.

"Very funny, Mr. Arc! Cardin! Perhaps you would care to share your thoughts on the subject!"

Cardin: "Well, I know it's a lot easier to train an animal than a soldier."

Tobias growls and speaks up.

"So if I give you a plate of chilli cheese fries, does that mean I can make you jump through a hoop no worries?" The class laughs as Y/N joins in.

"Maybe I should carry some Cardin Snacks in a bag around with me. That should give you the courage to kill a Beowolf or two." Again the whole class laughs and even Oobleck gives a small smirk behind his mug. Cardin however isn't as amused.

"I'm not an animal like the Faunus, dumbasses!"

Pyrrha speaks out as Oobleck shakes his head.

"You're not the most open-minded of individuals, are you, Cardin?"

"What? You got a problem?"

"No, I have the answer! It's night vision. Many Faunus are known to have nearly-perfect sight in the dark." Cardin growls at the correct response. Now Blake joins in, clearly angered by Cardin's stubbornly discriminatory attitude.

"General Lagune was inexperienced, and made the mistake of trying to ambush the Faunus in their sleep. His massive army was outmatched, and the general was captured." She turns to Cardin, a look of disgust on her face.

"Perhaps if he'd paid attention in class, he wouldn't have been remembered as such a failure."

Oobleck calls out as Cardin gets up from his seat, fist clenched, Y/N and Tobias slowly rising to deal with him.

"Mr. Winchester! Please take your seat." When Jaune laughs at his tormentor's embarrassment, Oobleck zooms up to him.

"You and Mr. Arc can both see me after class for additional readings." He takes yet another sip of his coffee that has to be filled with some kind of human accelerant.

Jaune slumps his shoulders and moans at his bad luck.

"Oohhhh..."

Oobleck continues, zooming away. "Now! Moving on!"

When the lesson ends, Pyrrha, Nora Valkyrie, and Lie Ren come out of the classroom, only for Pyrrha to stop near the doorway. Teams RWBY and STLL wave goodbye as they head back to the dorms, Sara looking skeptically at Y/N and Tobias who have matching mischievous looks in their eyes. Pyrrah says to Ren and Nora as they stop with her.

"You go on ahead. I'll wait for Jaune." They look back inside as the after-class talk occurs to the two boys.

Oobleck sips his coffee and sternly talks to the two boys in front of him.

"You two have been struggling in my class since day one! Now, I don't know if it's a lack of interest, or just your stubborn nature, but whatever it is..." He stops to take a longer sip of his coffee.

"It stops now! You've worked hard to gain entrance to this school, and we only accept the best of the best, so I expect you to act like it. History is important, gentlemen! If you can't learn from it... you're destined to repeat it. Pages fifty-one to ninety-one! I want an essay on my desk by next class! Now! Run along."

With that, he zooms out of the classroom and past a waiting Pyrrha in a green and white blur. Jaune comes out first, and Cardin emerges behind him, pushing him to the ground an emitting an "Ow!" from him that makes the bully laugh before walking away.

Pyrrha pulling Jaune back on his feet, gives him a look that's half joking and half serious.

"You know, I really will break his legs." Jaune sighs, and Pyrrha looks like she is struck by inspiration.

"I have an idea! Here, come with me!" She grabs a confused Jaune by the arm and drags him along as she turns down the corridor.

A dejected Jaune and Pyrrha come onto a rooftop of one of the buildings, with a clear view of the glowing green orbs in the central tower of Beacon. Jaune is the first to talk in a slightly confused tone.

"Pyrrha, I know I'm going through a hard time right now, but I'm not that depressed." He looks over the edge of the roof, to the confusion of Pyrrha.

"I can always be a farmer or something..."

Pyrrha cocks her head then the realization hits her with horror.

"N-n-no!" She then dashes to push Jaune away from the edge.

"That's not why I brought you up here!" The view pans out to show the two on the roof as they talk with Cardin leaning in his windowsill right below them.

"Jaune, I know you're having a difficult time in class and that you're still not the strongest of fighters, so... I want to help you!"

"Wh-what?"

"We can train up here after class where no one can bother us!" Jaune's next words are the last she thought she'd hear.

"You think I need help?" She thinks to herself. 'Yes, Yes I do.' but she quickly denies it to save him some embarrassment.

"N-no! No, that's not what I meant."

"But you just said it."

"Jaune, everybody needs a little push from time to time. It doesn't make you any different from the rest of us. You made it to Beacon! That speaks volumes of what you're capable of!"

Jaune then turns away from her, lowering his head and voice.

"You're wrong. I-I don't belong here." Astonished, Pyrrah instantly reprimands him.

"That's a terrible thing to say! Of course you do!"

Jaune turns back around, now angry.

"No, I don't!" He sighs heavily as Pyrrha looks bewildered and he reveals the truth.

"I wasn't really accepted into Beacon..." Turning his back to her so he doesn't have to face her, he grimaces.

"Wh-what do you mean?"

Jaune, eager to finally tell someone, has his voice going higher and higher as he confesses.

"I mean I didn't go to combat school, I didn't pass any tests. I didn't earn my spot at this Academy!" He looks at her again.

"I lied! I got my hands on some fake transcripts, and I lied!"

"What? But... why?"

"'Cause this is always what I've wanted to be!" He quickly turns around, recounting his reasons.

"My father, my grandfather, and his father before him were all warriors! They were all heroes! I wanted to be one, too. I was just never good enough."

Pyrrha approaching him, places a hand on his shoulder.

"Then let me help you!"

Jaune suddenly rounds on her with mad frustration.

"I don't want help! I don't want to be the damsel in distress! I want to be the hero!" Clearly stunned by his misplaced anger, Pyrrah starts to try and placate him.

"Jaune, I-"

Jaune doesn't let her finish.

"I'm tired of being the lovable idiot, stuck in the tree while his friends fight for their lives! Don't you understand? If I can't do this on my own... then what good am I?"

Pyrrha attempts to reach out for his arm and console him, but he leans back from her touch.

"Just... leave me alone. Okay?"

Pyrrha, head bowed, sad and rejected.

"If that's what you think is best..."

She walks away, her footsteps getting softer and softer until she leaves the roof. Jaune paces a little until he hears a mocking laugh and Cardin appears on the roof from his window.

"Oh, Jaune..."

Jaune then panics, looking behind him at his bully.

"Cardin!"

"I couldn't help but overhear you two from my dorm room. So, you snuck into Beacon, huh? I gotta say, Jaune, I never expected you to be such a rebel!"

Jaune now taking on a begging tone practically falls at Cardin's feet.

"Please, Cardin, please, don't tell anyone!"

"Jaune, come on! I'd never rat on a friend like that!"

Jaune, confused but approaching stutters confused.

"A... a friend?"

"Of course!" He traps Jaune in a headlock under his arm despite his struggling.

"We're friends now, Jauney boy! And the way I see it, as long as you're there for me when I need you, we'll be friends for a long time." With that he finally releases Jaune, who gasps as he leans on the ground.

"That being said, I really don't have time to do those extra readings Dr. Oobleck gave us today. Think you could take care of that for me, buddy?" He leans down to rub Jaune's hair and gets up with a grin as Jaune doesn't reply.

"That's what I thought." Cardin heads back to hang onto the edge.

"Don't worry, Jaune; your secret's safe with me."

Cardin drops back down to his room as Jaune rubs his neck in pain and worry.

Back at the STLL dorm however, the mood was a bit more lively. Y/N and Tobias are chanting something quietly as they try to go unnoticed through the door. Obviously, Sara sees the massive cloaked man and the lean blonde and asks, suspicious of the answer.

"Where are you two headed off to?" The two freeze and grimace before shrugging. They turn to her in sync and give one last shout before taking off.

"KITCHEN RAID!"

Shaking her head and wondering why she was stuck with two man children. She can't complain much though. They are both capable and reliable. She's seen that many times in the last few weeks. Whether it was Y/N shutting CRDL down when they were messing with the bunny Faunus girl, or Tobias when he single-handedly stopped a gang shootout near a elementary school down in Vale. He did so because he "never could concentrate in elementary school either, how is a gun fight supposed to make that any better?" She'd seen the security footage from Ozpin, Tobias threw lightning and gusts of wind from his semblance, shocking and stunning the gang members until the cops arrived. Sara shrugged her shoulders. It wasn't such a bad trade off to have prodigy man children on her team.

Y/N and Tobias were running through the courtyard towards Beacon's cafeteria when a tall Asian guy calls out to them.

"Hey hooded guy!"

Y/N turns around in confusion. Tobias sticks his tongue out and keeps running, happy to collect the good stuff before Y/N can reach it. Y/N pauses and walks up to the guy. He had green, samurai like armor and a very large great sword on his back similar to Y/N's Quake on his back. Getting closer Y/N can see that this guy is slightly taller than even him and quietly responds.

"What can I do for you..."

The Asian guy nods and smiles before answering.

"Yatsuhashi. The names Yatsuhashi. Were you the guy who helped Velvet a while ago? She said the guy was massive, has a sword like mine, and a distinctive black hooded cloak."

Very confused and showing it, Y/N searches his mind for the name Velvet, finding no reference, he shrugs and asks Yatsuhashi.

"Who's Velvet?"

Putting his hand at about normal head height he calmly describes her.

"Cute little brunette bunny Faunus? About yea high? Timid little thing?"

Understanding dawned on Y/N's face.

"Oh you meant her! When Cardin and his goons were pulling on her ears?"

"Indeed."

Smiling, Y/N nodded and scratched his neck in embarrassment.

"Yeah that was me. I'm Y/N Lennox. I may have gone a little overboard, I hope she didn't get any blowback or trouble from it. I'm sorry if she did. I didn't handle that situation very well."

Yatsuhashi shook his head quickly.

"No quite the opposite in fact. Ever since then she's started to speak up more and come out of her shell a bit more. I think you handled it a lot more properly than I would have if I was there. Probably more than just broken pride and noses would have happened that day."

"Yeah Nora wanted to break Cardin's legs and Sara wanted to break all his limbs. I took the slightly different option of breaking his aura of superiority in front of enough people that it mattered. It was still fun though!"

At this Yatsuhashi gave him a single chuckle and held out his hand. As Y/N took it, Yatsuhashi spoke.

"Well my friend, I wanted to thank you for that. I can't be there all the time for that cute little fuzzball and I'm glad someone like you was when it counted."

Y/N nodded.

"Of course man. Anytime." With this Yatsuhashi gave Y/N a piece of paper and spoke in a serious tone.

"Well we owe you one, I owe you one. Here's team CFVY's contact info. Don't hesitate to give us a call when you find yourself in need of help. This is my way of saying thanks. Velvet kept meaning to say it, but never found the right time. Speaking of time, you might want to catch up to your friend before he gets in too much trouble. That look of his was down right devious."

Y/N laughed and then his face took on an annoyed look as he waved to Yatsuhashi and took off.

"Tobias you better not have stolen all the good snacks!"

Yatsuhashi shook his head. How could someone so noble be that much of a child? Either way, his mission was complete. He took off towards the dorms once again.

Later

The view is of the Beacon Academy student dorms, where Pyrrha Nikos looks out the window sadly as Lie Ren loads StormFlower and Nora Valkyrie is jumping on her bed in the room for Team JNPR. Nora is the first to say anything

"How come Jaune gets home so late?" Ren answers her matter-of-factly

"He's become rather scarce since he started fraternizing with Cardin."

"That's weird... Doesn't he know we have a field trip tomorrow? We need our rest!" She proclaims this while twirling in midair so her back hits the covers. Pyrrah angrily joins the conversation.

"I'm sure our leader knows exactly what he's doing."

Nora and Ren exchange glances, not knowing that Jaune himself is looking in through the crack of the door. Doubtfully Nora responds.

"Mmmm... I guess so."

Jaune hangs his head and closes the door, just as a voice interrupts his thoughts.

"Hey, Jaune!"

Startled, Jaune turns around to see Ruby in her pajamas, and she giggles at his reaction.

"Long time, no see! Did you lock yourself out again?"

"Oh, uh, nope!" Jaune raises his Scroll, attempting to laugh.

"Got it!"

"So! Where have you been lately?"

"I, uh..."

He tries to come up with something, but just sighs and lowers his head.

"I messed up. I did something I shouldn't have, and now Cardin has me on a leash, and Pyrrha won't even talk to me, and..." Jaune breathes heavily through his nose.

"I'm starting to think coming to this school was a bad idea."

He presses his back to his team's door and slides down to the floor in depression.

"I'm a failure."

Without a pause, Ruby just declares.

"Nope!"

Jaune, raising his head, now looking at her in surprise.

"'Nope?'"

"Nope! You're a leader now, Jaune. You're not allowed to be a failure."

"But... what if I'm a failure at being a leader?"

Ruby then thinks about it for a moment, then gives her answer.

"Nope!"

Jaune laughs as she joins him on the floor.

"You know, you're not the easiest person to talk to about this kind of stuff."

"Nope!"

She exclaims as Jaune leans into the door some more.

"Jaune, maybe you were a failure when you were a kid..."

Jaune groans and sinks lower to the ground.

"... and you might've even been a failure the first day we met!"

He groans and goes lower still.

"But, you can't be one now. You know why?"

"Uhhh, because...?" He can't figure out a reason so he just trails off into silence uncertainly.

"Because it's not just about you anymore. You've got a team now, Jaune. We both do! And if we fail, then we'll just be bringing them down with us."

She gets up and places her hands on her hips as she speaks.

"We have to put our teammates first, and ourselves second. Your team deserves a great leader, Jaune. And I think that can be you."

She walks over to her door and opens it as Jaune, now slightly inspired by her words, watches her wave.

"Have a good night, Jaune!"

She goes inside.

With new energy, Jaune pushes himself off the ground and faces the door, ready to turn the knob and face his team, but his Scroll beeps and he pulls it off of his side to open it, seeing Cardin's contact relaying a message.

Cardin's voice pops out of the scroll.

"Hey! It's your buddy Cardin! I know you're probably busy with that Dust project I gave you, buuuut I'm gonna need you to go out and get me a bag of Rapier Wasps."

As Jaune makes a terrified sound in response and Cardin continues.

"And make sure they've got some really big stingers! It's important, so don't screw this up!"

Jaune closes his Scroll just when it begins to beep again. Sighing, he wearily heads down the hallway and away from his room. As he bumps into someone he looks up. Arms full of neat little bags of beef jerky for himself and candy bars for Lily, Y/N looks down at Jaune.

"So, you gonna do it?"

Jaune is surprised.

"You heard that?" Y/N nods.

"So...?"

Hanging his head Jaune confirms.

"At this point I don't have a choice, Cardin has something on me. So it's either follow orders like a good little dog or it's out of Beacon for good."

Processing this, Y/N nods to himself and pulls out his scroll.

"Wait here."

He walks over to his dorm, unlocks the door, and disappears for a minute. He reappears with his full gear and a pair of heavy gloves.

"Shall we go?" Jaune is now very confused.

"What?"

"Look I don't know what he's got on you, and frankly I don't care. You need help right now and as much as I have a bad feeling about this, I'm gonna help."

Jaune still is stunned.

"You're not gonna make me tell you what he's got on me? You're just going to help?"

"Yeah? Isn't that what a friend does?"

Dumbfounded, Jaune looks into Y/N's (E/C) eyes and sees nothing but honesty. So he shrugged and led the way.

An overhead shot of a forest bustling with red leaves and gray trunks is seen as the camera descends and shows Glynda leading teams RWBY, JNPR, STLL, and CRDL through the area.

Glynda speaks to the group.

"Yes, students, the forest of Forever Fall is indeed beautiful. But we are not here to sight-see. Professor Peach has asked all of you to collect samples from the trees deep inside this forest, and I'm here to make sure none of you die while doing so."

The group stops, and Jaune, grunting and carrying a large case with six empty glass jars on top, tries to catch up with them and ends up bumping into Cardin. The bully scowls at Jaune, who attempts to feign innocence by whistling tunelessly.

Glynda is still instructing her group, holding up a full jar of their objective.

"Each of you is to gather one jar's worth of red sap. However, this forest is full of the creatures of Grimm, so be sure to stay by your teammates. We will rendezvous back here at 4 o'clock. Have fun!"

Lily raised her hand excitedly.

"Yes Miss Pines?"

"Is it ok to get some extra sap? I happen to know it is extremely sweet!"

Frowning for a moment, Glynda finally relents.

"As long as you don't interfere with the other students collecting their own, yes, yes you may."

Lily jumps up and down. Tobias, Sara, and Y/N groaned. Y/N spoke up.

"Looks like we're headed on a long hike ladies, Sparky."

Team STLL took off all in different states of acceptance. Lily was skipping along carrying a couple of jars. Tobias was trudging along with an armful of jars. Sara kept sighing and held a few jars herself. Y/N, ever the optimist was quietly whistling to himself holding the most amount of jars. Seeing this, Yang walked over before they left the clearing.

"Hey, Y/N!" He turned around, saw Yang, and his smile widened.

"Yes Sunshine? What can I do for you?"

Noting his change in expressions, Yang is curious.

"If I asked you to save me a jar of tall dark and you, would you do it?"

A little confused, but understanding there was some kind of flirting going on, Y/N responded in kind.

"Well normally I wouldn't. But since it's you Sunshine?" He leaned in and placed his face next to hers, making her shudder with goosebumps as he whispered his answer.

"It's a promise." He winked at her and turned to catch up with his team.

Ruby bounded up to Yang.

"What did Y/N just say?"

Shaken from her trance, Yang shakes her head sadly.

"He made me a promise. Not that I'm waiting for it to be kept. You know me and promises. You, dad, and Qrow are the only ones I know will keep em. Anyway,we should get back."

She walked back towards Blake and Weiss. Sadly Ruby looks at Y/N walking off.

"I think he might be more like Uncle Qrow than you think Yang. Plus he seems pretty nice to me."

She then goes over and rejoins the rest of team RWBY.

While Yang Xiao Long and her sister smile at one another, Jaune attempts to (noisily) sneak away from Cardin to his team, but the blackmailer sees this and grabs Jaune by the back.

"Come on, buddy - let's go!"

Jaune miserably looks up at his team, where Nora and Ren are already walking into the forest's depths and Pyrrha is staring sadly at the scene. Dropping his gaze, Jaune turns and follows CRDL, to the disappointment of a sighing Pyrrha before she continues on.

Team CRDL is making themselves as comfortable as possible by leaning on stones, trees, and the ground while Jaune returns to the group with six full jars, setting them down just as he collapses face-down. The surrounding team gets up in response.

"Hey, great work, Jauney boy! Now that wasn't too hard, was it?"

Jaune is still on the ground, cross-eyed and sounding dizzy.

"I think I'm allergic to this stuff..."

"Greeeeat, great, great. So, Jaune, I bet you're asking yourself, 'Why did my buddy Cardin ask me to collect six jars of tree sap when there's only five of us?'"

Jaune starts nodding, still exhausted.

"That is one of the many questions I have asked myself today, yes."

Cardin speaks to Jaune as Jaune sits up.

"Well, come with me, and you'll find out."

Jaune moans and gulps in worry.

Further in the forest, on the opposite side of team RWBY from team CRDL, Team STLL was happily collecting the sap. Lily was bouncing up and down impatiently as Sara and Tobias finished filling their jars. Y/N was sitting underneath one of the forever fall trees, staring at something on his scroll. Tobias saw this and complained to Sara.

"Why don't you bother Y/N instead of us? He's over there lounging around probably thinking of where to ask Yang out on a date."

Ignoring that last part, Lily retorted in a huff.

"He's already given me three jars to...'sample' before filling them back up for me. His only condition? He gets to keep an extra jar."

Looking at the multitude of jars that Y/N had and the few trees he'd tapped, Tobias asked Y/N a question.

"How'd you do that?" Finally looking up from his scroll, Y/N answered in two words.

"My semblance."

That got Sara interested. She stopped tapping ag the tree and looked over at him.

"What exactly is your semblance? I remember Tobias telling me that you can shoot fire, land from great falls, and seem to always know where your opponent is coming from. What's your semblance and what's just pure training?"

Stretching, Y/N chuckled.

"I guess it is time for us to get each other's semblances straight. My mentor called mine 'God of War' once, and it just kind of stuck. I guess you could call my Semblance a bit...weird. the most visible effect is the fire Tobias told you about."

At this point, Y/N was standing up. He opened his right hand and produced a fireball of red Aura energy. He then started to juggle it, keeping everyone's eyes on the ball of fire.

"However I have several other parts to my semblance that aren't so obvious to the naked eye. Everyone has the ability to heal faster and create shields with their Aura. I however, can take that a few steps further. If I concentrate on imbuing my Aura in my muscles, I can boost my already prodigious agility and strength to unprecedented levels. Tobias you remember the Nevermore at initiation?"

Nodding, Tobias acknowledged him with a grunt.

"Well that feat of strength as well as the jump over the enormous rift and the landing were accomplished at around twice Nora's strength. Honestly, I'm usually just under her in terms of strength, muscle to muscle. The harder I train my body, the more I can handle taking Aura in."

He was still juggling the fire ball and everyone was watching it as he explained.

"The other major part of it is what really gives me the edge. With a glance at anything, I can calculate about 10-20 moves ahead depending on how much I have to calculate. Also, the more I'm pushed, the more excited I get. Games in particular. The worse my opponent is, the more bored I get. On the opposite end, the better they are, the more invested I get. Combat in particular also gets me like that. I can't help it. I just have perfect..."

He stops talking and throws the fireball by Sara's face, killing the snake that had slipped up behind her.

"...aim."

Sara muttered curses and threw the burnt corpse of the snake off into the forest.

"Thanks for that Y/N. I guess I'm next. My semblance is healing. Like healing others not just myself. I can't heal mortal wounds, but anything else? Given the time, I can heal no problem. That's about it. My mom call's it Nature's Gift."

Lily was up next. She bounced up and down as she talked about hers, already on a sugar high from the sap.

"I can make exactly 9 clones of myself. They follow my commands to the letter. It takes a lot of Aura so I can't maintain them for more than 10 minutes, but they're armed like ancient soldiers, large shields and short swords, capable of fighting in a unit. My own personal name for it? Legion."

They all turned to Tobias next. He shrugged and started.

"My semblance is easy. If it's in the heavens, I control it. I can shoot lightning from my fingers, use the winds to move extremely fast, control winds within a 100 meter radius, and if I'm really concentrating, create small storms in the same area."

Y/N spoke up, impressed.

"That's awesome sparky. I wish I could do that!"

"Please Y/N you're overpowered as it is, you basically have precognition and pyrokinesis. If you added his Semblance to it? You'd be unstoppable."

Sara said this in all honesty. Then Lily and Tobias thought about it. A second later they both shook in fear of the power of a Titan with control of fire and the heavens. Y/N smiled and nodded.

"So does this give you any ideas for the Vytal tournament Captain?"

Sara nodded, a mischievous look on her face.

"That is does, now that I know your skills my friends, I have plenty of ideas. Let's just say no one will be able to stop us before the singles round."

The look on her face was between mischievous and downright maniacal. So none of them questioned it. They just laughed nervously. Well except Tobias.

"You know Sara, you're kind of cute when you're scheming."

She blushes, Y/N snorts while looking away, and Lily mimed throwing up. Then they all started laughing. It felt good to just laugh at each other. Then Y/N came over, took a look at the tree, and slapped the drill into a different spot. The sap started flowing out like a river. Lily's eyes went wide and she pushed Tobias and he started filling up the last two jars. Y/N laughed and walked away. He picked up the jars and shoved them in a backpack. Then he tensed up. Lily saw this and walked over to him. She then got a very Nora like look in her eyes.

Sara and Tobias looked over just in time to see Y/N miss Lily as she sped over to pet...a freaking Deathstalker. Sara jumped up and in a low voice called out to Lily.

"Lily! Do not, I repeat, do not pet that Deathstalker. It will end very badly. Lily! Lily!"

Meanwhile

Now perched on a hilltop overlooking the other students, team CRDL - plus Jaune, squeezed between Cardin and Russel Thrush - peak their heads over the crest and watch as everyone is retrieving their samples of sap. Ren, kneeling to collect it from a tree, passes a full jar to Nora, who "Mmmm!"s at the gift as Ren trades it for the other jar in her care. He turns back to the tree and starts filling it up while several licking sounds are heard off-screen until the camera pans back to Nora, now with an embarrassed smile covered in red and an empty jar in her hands.

Jaune lays there turning to his left.

"Cardin, wh-what's going on?"

Cardin answers him, still staring at the unsuspecting group sharply.

"Payback."

Jaune widens his eyes in understanding.

"Pyrrha...?" He watches her gather more sap from a tree

"Wh-what are you-?"

Cardin then pounds his fist on the ground, impotent rage surging forward.

"That's the girl. Red-haired know-it-all, thinks she's so smart. Alright, boys..." He pulls out a buzzing cardboard box with a large "W" written on its sides.

"Last night, old Jaune here managed to round up an entire box of Rapier Wasps, and now, we're gonna put him to work."

Russel grabs Jaune by the shoulder, who barely laughs in nervousness.

"Now, according to one of the essays you wrote for me last week, these nasty things loooove sweets."

Pyrrha is seen finishing her sap collection.

"I'm thinking it's time we teach her a thing or two."

The members of CRDL get up. Cardin offers his hand to Jaune, only to painfully yank him up on his feet and shove the jar into his grasp.

"And you're gonna do it." Jaune asks a question, already knowing what he's being asked to do.

"Do what?"

"Hit her with the sap!" Cardin leans in close to Jaune's face.

"Either that, or I'll have a chat with Goodwitch, and you'll be on the first airship out of Beacon."

Jaune looks down at the jar of sap in his hands and then up at the four grinning teammates waiting to see what happens. Jaune turns towards the group and aims his throw at an oblivious and smiling Pyrrha, trying to steel his nerves and shaking hand to do the deed, but ultimately steels himself for what he's about to do.

"No."

"What did you say?"

Jaune musters the courage, gripping the jar tightly.

"I said... NO!"

He turns and throws the jar at Cardin, instantly recoiling his hands to himself as he looks at Cardin's breastplate covered in sap. The other team leader, however, just looks at himself and laughs darkly.

"Oh, you've done it now..."

Jaune humorously laughs to himself once more with his hands still raised in an attempt for defense as Dove Bronzewing and Sky Lark grab Jaune's shoulders and pull him in so his terrified eyes are the only thing in view.

A/n. So yeah, this one is a bit longer. I guess it's making up for being a little short last time. Enjoy!
