Imagine: you're on the mission with Natasha and Steve. The one on the boat and you lose concentration for a split second.

'Wait where's y/n?' Steve asks and right at that moment, you kick the soldier against the glass, the blood creating a stain on the window.
Steve flinches and steps back, already holding his shield in front of him.
'Hey guys....how's it's hanging?' You smirk as you look at them through the glass.
'Get in position...'
'Sure thing Captain...' you tease and he rolls his eyes.
'You two should go on a date, you make a very cute couple...' Natasha chuckles.
'Who says we didn't try already?' You reply as you get into your position.
'Oh my god you're gonna tell me all about it over wine...'
'No she's not, no you're not y/n...'
'Aww but I liked it so much...' you smile.
'Where did you two go?'
'Smithsonian...' you reply holding up your gun.
'Really Rogers..'
'Knock it off Romanoff it was romantic...' You shut her up.
'Okay...move in 3....2....1...' Steve counts down as the rest of the team gets ready.
You shoot two agents and Steve climbs through the window of the control room and fight with Batroc.
You climb off of the stairs you've been standing on and you jump into the deck.
'Steve...Nat what do I do now?' You ask looking around.
'Wait for us to get you...'
'Okay, I'll wait he-' a gunshot interrupts you and you grunt.
More follow and you try to get away.
'Y/n!' You hear Steve yell through the com.
You fall to the ground and luckily for you, Steve jumps on the deck and covers you with his shield all while dragging you away from the gunfire.
In the meantime Natasha takes the soldiers out and Steve givers over you, looking for all the damage they caused.
You grab his arm, your nails digging in his suit and skin, you let out a groan as your eyes squeeze shut.
'Hey hey stay with me...come on...' he breathes.
You're squirming and thrashing around in pain. Wailing at the stinging pain
You gulp when he puts pressure on it and you scream out of pain.
'I know I know....just stay with me okay...ju...ay...wi...e..' your hearing gets worse and it sounds like Steve is either underwater or in slow motion.
You slowly slump back against the ground and Steve desperately tries to keep you awake by shaking you a bit.

'You get that a lot don't you?' You chuckle as you link arms with Steve, walking in the Smithsonian.
'Yeah, kids can see under the cap...so they're the ones who recognise you first...' Steve replies smiling at you.
'It's sweet, they look at you like you're their world and I adore it...I wish kids would look at me that way...'
'They do look at you that way...the kids at shield...'
'You know that's not what I mean...' you chuckle as you pull him towards you a little bit.
'You are one hell of an agent...I mean...you are a badass...' he replies and you smile at him.
'Natasha is not going to let this go if we tell her...'
'If we tell her...'
'You don't wanna tell her we've been dating for a year?'
'No...' he says a bit stern.
'My my Rogers...if you don't want to tell her it's fine...' you stop walking and he turns to you.
'Thank you....god I can't hear her calling other names than you of people to go out with...'
'I know you don't want to but...if we would tell her you wouldn't have to listen to it anymooooooore...' you bash your eyelashes and he playfully rolls his eyes at you.
'If they find out we are together they will come after you...'
'They already are Rogers, I am a SHIELD agent...' you stand on the tip of your toes to give him a kiss on the cheek.
He turns his head and plants his lips on you, right in the galaxy hallway they created, it's very special.
You smile as you stand back, the lights suddenly seem to brighten.
They glow to a point where you have to cover your eyes.
'Steve what's happening?' You ask but you're alone.
You raise your hand to cover your eyes again and the light goes away.
'Y/n?, are you there?' A female voice says and you slowly open your eyes.
'Ah there you are, she's awake, you can tell Mister Rogers and Miss Romanoff...but they need to be careful with her...'
'Will do Doctor Prescott...'
'Where am I?'
'You're very lucky Mister Rogers brought you in here in time, just a few minutes later and you would've been too far gone...'
You push yourself into a sitting position and both Nat and Steve walk in.
'Thank god you're okay...' Steve says as he takes your hand in his.
'We thought we lost you...'
'How long was I out?'
'About 25 hours...'
'That long huh?' You reply with a small smile.
'Don't you ever do that again or I will kill you myself..' Natasha sits down on the chair and Steve on the bed.

'How are you doing today y/n?'
'I have some pain but not that much...'
'On a scale of one to ten?'
'Maybe a three?' You reply and the Doctor smiles sweetly at you.
'Making progress...' She chirps.
You grab the crutches and you stand up.
'No pain when walking?'
'A little, bit again, durable...' you reply.
'Good, I'll come to check on you in a minute...'
You smile and nod. Something seems off. You can't decipher what exactly. Steve acted weird today, and so did Natasha.
This goes on for about two days, you haven't seen them and they don't call.
You're sitting in the window, looking at the shield building across the plaza.
'I don't have much time, Steve and Natasha send me...' an unknown man steps into your room and locks the door.
You hold onto your crutch, ready to beat the hell out of him.
'Easy easy, Steve told me where you were...he needed to see if you're okay...you can come in now...' The man says and Steve rushes in, locking the door behind him.
'What's going on?' You ask.
'Shield is compromised...Hydra grew under our noses...they're ready to launch project Insight, killing millions of people...even this hospital is full of Hydra...'
'I know...' you reply as you take your crutch and push yourself up.
'They gave me medication that was making me sicker and it also made me high as a kite....I found out when she accidentally left the bottle standing on the table....I haven't been taking any medication since then..'
'Steve, there's a very angry Rumlow coming down the hall right now...' The man warns him.
'Y/n, you have to come with us...'
'I'll only slow you down...'
'No you won't, hop on my back'
'I really don't think-'
'We don't have much time y/n...come on...' he interrupts you with a worried look on your face.
'One second...I'll take some pain medication...anybody got some water?'
Both men look at each other and shake their heads. Your eyes dart around the room, looking for any kind of liquid.
Your eyes land on a bottle of whiskey you got from Tony.
'This will do...'
'Whoa whoa whoa!, don't you know that's bad for you?'
'We're about to get shot at by Rumlow and his puppy dogs and you're worrying about this?' You ask you put the pills in your mouth and take a few gulps of whiskey to make them go down.
'I love her already...' the still unknown man nods.
'Don't encourage her Sam...' Steve replies.

'Steve!, Steve! Baby!' You call out as you rush towards him.
You fall to your knees besides his body. You quickly hold two fingers against his neck checking for a pulse.
'Y/n?, did you find him?'
'Yeah yeah!' You reply as you puts your ear above his mouth, trying to hear if he's breathing.
'Y/n, is he alive?'
'Working on it..'
'What do you m-'
'It means that you shut up until I tell you if he's okay!' You snarl.
You can hear his breathing and you release the breath you didn't know you were holding.
'He's okay...but he needs medical help...' you speak into the com.
'It's on its way y/n...' Sam replies and you cup Steve's face.
Some groans escape his throat and you shush him when he opens his eyes.
'Help is in the way...you're safe now Steve...' you ensure him.
'Did it work?'
'Yes baby it worked...' you nod. 'Just hold on for me okay?, they can arrive any second now...'
