Loki-Sarcasm and Shakespeare

"Y/N, we have a really important team meeting in an hour and you have to be there on time. 11am on the dot."

I nodded my head in clear understanding at Tony, "Yeah of course Tony, I completely understand."

He glared at me, sensing the underlying tone of sarcasm dripping from my voice, "I mean it Y/L/N!"

I smirk at him, "I know Mr Stark, I promise I'll be there."

He rolls his eyes and turns around to walk back to his lab, "if you're not there I will kick you off the team" he shouts as he walks away.

Chuckling I shout back at him, "You wouldn't dare, the Avengers wouldn't survive without me."

He flips me off with a middle finger over his shoulder.

Laughing, I go back to what I was doing and carry on working out. After a hard session, doing almost exactly what Nat had taught me, I go to shower at 10:45. By the time I had finished and was walking down to the meeting room it was already 11:10. Okay, maybe I'd been a little more slow than usual just because I wanted to annoy Tony and show up late to the 'really important' meeting which was probably just arguments over who is the people's favourite. Which, to clear it up, is definitely me. Knocking on the door, I slowly open it and pop just my head around to see Tony glaring at me and everyone else watching with amusement.

Tony is stood at the front of the room with a man who most definitely, but couldn't be, looked like Thor's incredibly attractive, psychotic and did I mention attractive brother, Loki.

"Y/N," Tony seethed, my mission to anger him seemingly working.

"Tony," I answered, "I was just doing my intense workout regime you told me I needed to do and didn't even notice the time. So anyone wanna fill me in on why Thor's psycho bro is standing casually in our team meeting as though he didn't try to destroy and rule our planet about a year ago?"

Loki glances at me and his eyes stay as cold and harsh as they always have been.

"Just sit down," Tony sighs.

I skip over to a seat next to Sam and go to sit down.

"Not there," Tony shakes his head.

I pout, "But Sam is the only one I like!"

Sam high fives me and Tony rolls his eyes knowing he can't control me, I sit where I was going to in the first place.

"Carry on, Loki," Steve speaks, nodding at the oddly silent God.

He watches me intensely and continues whatever he was saying before I interrupted.

"As I was saying, I just wish to experience being able to do good here. Asgard do not forgive me and I do not expect you to either, but I was hoping you would be willing to at least give me a chance to prove myself. After all, you could use my talents and they are wasted just sitting in a cell on our planet."

"Give us a minute Loki," Nat says as Loki leaves the room.

Tony sits down at the head of the table and everyone begins to discuss.

"I say we give him a chance," Thor says.

"You couldn't be more biased if you tried Thor, you're his brother!" Clint argues.

"If he's here all the time, I might be tempted to kill him," Nat shrugs honestly.

"I really think we could use his help, he could do things 10 times quicker and it gives us time to focus on the big missions as he does the small ones," Steve announces.

"I agree," Tony nods, "I'm not saying to accept him as part of the team, keep an eye on him, he's like an assistant. He'll do anything to please us so we can use that to our advantage."

"Wait, so you're going to let a psycho roam around the base not knowing if he actually feels remorse or if he is playing us?" I blurt.

Tony glares at me, "You really think after you showed up late when I specifically told you not to, you get a say in this? You're not mature enough to have an opinion when it comes to these matters."

"So if my opinion doesn't matter to you all, why am I here?" my voice begins to rise.

"So we can keep an eye on you, you aren't exactly the most easy person to look after."

"Tony.." Steve warns him.

"No Steve let the man talk," I shout standing up, "It's nice to know what he thinks of me when he isn't licking my ass because he needs my abilities. Did you have a meeting like this before I joined? To discuss all the disadvantages of me being on the team? Or did you just let me on the team because you felt sorry for me? You are not my father Tony, so stop trying to act like it."

I stormed out of the room and heard a few people call after me but kept going. Stood outside, clearly listening in, was no other than the God of Mischief himself. He watched me with obvious amusement written all over his face.

"What do you think you're smirking at?" I snarled.

He raised his hands up in defence and then ran one through his raven-black, silky hair.

"I'm just a 'psycho' according to you so who knows what I'm smirking at?"

I squinted my eyes at him, "Planning all our murders, no doubt."

He chuckles and shakes his head, "Maybe theirs, yours not so much. You're rather intriguing."

Rolling my eyes, I turn around and begin to walk away.

"See you around, fellow teammate," He says from behind me and I can hear the smirk in his voice.

"There's no way they're letting you on the team."

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

They let him on the team. I can't believe they would do something so stupid, like trusting a God who tried to rule Earth, let an inter-galactic army loose and murdered millions of people. Never-mind the fact that he literally has Mischief in his title. But what's worse is that I have to go on a mission with him. Why exactly, I'm not sure.

Pulling on my boots, I turned to face the man who was putting on his last piece of armour.

"Listen here God of Lies and Deceit, you listen to everything I tell you without a second thought, or I swear, I will murder you."

He smirks, one of his only facial expressions, a look that I've gotten used to seeing over the past 2 weeks as he's tried to 'break down my walls' and force me to show that I'm not just a 'cold-hearted, sarcastic mutant.'

"Of course, mission leader."

I roll my eyes, "Yeah, that sounds about right."

"Alright roll out guys," Tony says through a headset.

I ignore him, still not speaking after we had an even bigger argument after the meeting.

Me, Loki and a few other agents head out from the truck and burst into a empty, abandoned building.

"Take the right with 2 agents, I got the left," I whispered to Loki as we split into two teams, "scour the area and call me if you spot anything."

He nods and I take 2 agents with me to go to the left of the building. Searching for any sign of activity, the men have their guns up and ready to fire as I raise your hands in anticipation, prepared to use my powers if I need to.

Suddenly, there's gunshots and shouts from Loki's side of the building. Pointing in the direction it is coming from, we began to run towards it.

Tapping my earpiece I call to the God, "Loki, what's going on?!"

"I got it covered!" He shouts back.

I sigh angrily and run around the corner to see the man we came to capture tied up with Loki's magic and one dead agent on the floor. Blood puddles around us as the agents check to see if the man on the floor could have any chance of survival.

"You idiot!" I scream, coming forward and shoving him hard in the chest.

"What? I caught the bad guy didn't I? Isn't that what you guys do? Risk your lives in the field to catch disgusting men like these. That agent died a hero and we've got what we came here for."

I gasp in disbelief, "if you had just called me like I said you should then that man could have lived. You just killed a man because of your own selfish pride. Take him to the car, this isn't over."

We all head back to the car, chucking the man in the back and wrapping up the agent in blankets so he could have a proper burial. The whole drive was silent and the second we arrived, Tony was there to rip my head off for Loki's mistake.

"How could you? Let a man die on your first real mission without us. How can I ever trust you again? That man's life is on you Y/N, it's on you."

I spin around to face him, my face red and my breath short, "No Tony, his life is on you. YOU let that monster back onto our planet. YOU gave the 'least mature' person on the team the responsibility of controlling a god. YOU let your ego get in the way of coming on this mission with us. YOU killed that man, the same as YOU pushed me away. So for once in your life stop putting the blame on other people and accept that you make so many mistakes that you can't keep up."

I storm to the stairs with Tony calling out apologetically behind me. Getting to the kitchen, I grab a few beers from the fridge and head to my quiet place; the roof. Sitting with my legs dangling over the edge, I get lost in the stars drinking way too many beers. Reaching to grab another one, I find my stash is gone and all I have is empty bottles. I groan, smashing the empty bottle I hold on the ground and begin to cry. Pulling my knees up to my chest, I sob.

"Mind if I join you?" Loki's smooth voice questions.

"P**s off," I mumble.

"I thought you'd say that, so I brought beers. Really as an excuse to sit with you but also because I knew you'd say no but you wouldn't say no to an alcoholic beverage."

Looking up at him as he slowly sits down beside me, I see a look on his face that I had never seen before, concern. He passes me a beer and I begin sipping it in silence. After a while, Loki speaks up.

"I'm sorry," he whispers so quiet I think I imagined it.

"For which part?" I ask, "causing me to want to jump off this roof since you've been here? making me argue with Tony? Disobeying me in the mission? Being the reason a family lost a man they loved today? Or killing millions of people along with my best friend last year? You have a long list of things to be sorry for, so which one am I being blessed with today?"

He sighs and for the first time since I had really met him, his facade falters and I see remorse in his eyes.

"All of it."

I smile slightly, "Can one sorry really cover all of that?"

He glances at me and the corner of his mouth turns up slightly, "No, but if you'll forgive me, I'll spend the rest of my life apologising to you for what I've done. All of it. I don't know much about you. I know you're a sarcastic, powerful mutant, who everyone here loves and cares for and that you've clearly had a rough life. I don't want to make it any harder for you. I want to know you. I want you to know me. I want you to know that I'm not this egotistical, soulless god everyone thinks I am. I care, and I am truly sorry."

I wipe away the stray tear that had fallen down his cheek and am surprised by how warm his soft skin feels.

"As far as apology speeches go, not bad."

He chuckles and shakes his head, "You are terrific at ruining a moment."

"One of my hidden talents," I laugh.

I turn to face him and put my beer down, deciding there are better things to do than drown my sorrows.

"So you want to get to know me? What do you want to know, Mischief?"

He grins at my name for him, "Everything."

I giggle, "Cheesy line Loki."

"What can I say?" he raises his arms in surrender, "I am naturally charming."

I hit him on his shoulder and he laughs, "Alright, I'll tell you something about me and you tell me something about you."

He nods, "Ladies first."

"That should mean you but hey, I'm not going to argue," I pause to think for a moment, "Umm, okay, so I actually met Tony when I was 8 when my dad became a SHIELD agent and I had a massive crush on him for a long time."

Loki burst out laughing, "You're starting with that, wow."

I fain sadness and pout, "Hey, I was 8, don't laugh. I got over it once I spent a few days with the guy. He's infuriating."

Once he had stopped laughing, he started on his, "When I was younger, I used to trick Thor by turning into animals so he'd pet me and then frighten him by turning back into myself."

"That's horrible!" I cry with laughter.

"Well in my defence, it was the only thing my mother had taught me to do with my magic yet and she told me to practise," he smiled.

"Okay, okay, so I have a secret love for Shakespeare that no-one knows about and I'm totally gonna regret telling you that in the morning. If I remember any of this."

Loki thinks for a minute and his forehead creases and his eyebrows furrow in the most adorable way.

"Wait? The soppy and dramatic English writer?" he asks and I nod.

He then begins to laugh again, "HEY DON'T LAUGH AT ME!" I laugh too, despite myself.

"It's just that you, the most hard-faced, sarcastic, angsty person on the entire team, secretly loves plays about romantic deaths and sonnets about summers days as I recall."

"C'mon it's not that bad."

"No it's not. It's just as cliche as it comes," he smiles at me and for a moment I forget everything.

Everything but him, and his annoyingly perfect smile, charm, hair, face, soul.

"What is it?" he asks frowning slightly.

"Nothing," I mumble, "I just feel bad now for not believing you were a good person who wanted redemption."

He leans forward and lifts my head up with his hand.

"You had no reason to believe me."

"And I do now?" I smirk.

He leans even closer to me and pulls me towards him, lightly grazing his lips against mine, in a moment of pure bliss.

"You do now."
