Chapter Eighteen: I Think My Water Broke
Dallas's POV:
I was able to go home a few hours after I woke up and Dr. Pond gave me the okay to leave. I have been feeling amazing, I have gained the weight back that I had lost with the poison that was put in my shakes. I have been helping around the house and Cale follows me everywhere, telling me that I need to rest and put my feet up because I could have Jensen any day now. And Mason was sent everywhere with me and I mean everywhere. But that was not going to stop me.
I was going shopping with Carson to get things for my baby shower. I watched as Cale handed Carson his credit card.
"Here Carson take this and buy whatever you two need for this thing tomorrow. I just want Dallas here to be happy and have fun."
I stood on my tip toes and kissed Cale on the cheek and the next thing I knew I was being pulled away from Cale by Carson and being dragged out to her car.
My baby shower is going to be tomorrow and I was so excited and Jace and Emily are coming tomorrow and staying a few days. I have missed them so much and I am glad that they are coming.
I had found out this morning that Alpha Zane had finally found his mate and he was the happiest he has ever been. He too is coming tomorrow for my baby shower and is bringing his new mate. I am so happy that I will be able to celebrate tomorrow with everyone that I love and care for most deeply.
"Come on Dallas, you are such a slow poke."
"Carson you try being this pregnant, and then we will talk about having to move slowly." I couldn't help but laugh.
"Carson please slow down so Princess and I can keep up with you." I watched as Carson slowed down and I couldn't thank Mason enough for telling her to slow down.
'Thank you Mason.' I said through the mind link and he just nodded his head and smiled at me.
Finally after me slowly walking, we made it to the store. This store was amazing, I mean you can buy anything and everything for any type of party you are having.
"Okay Dallas, pick whatever you would like and put it into this cart."
"You really want me to pick everything?" I couldn't believe she was going to let me do this.
"Yes, and I will pick stuff that I want. So you’re happy and I am happy." I walked over and gave her a hug.
"Carson you have no idea how much that I am glad that you are my friend."
"Hello, am I not your best friend?"
I couldn't help but laugh. "Yes you are my best friend in this pack, and Emily is my best friend in my old pack. But don't worry you are my best friend."
I watched as she put a huge smile on her face. "Well I am off." With that said she was MIA.
"So Princess, what types of things do you want to get?"
"I have no idea Mason. I have never had a baby shower, let alone attended one."
"Well thank god you have me. I have been to several baby showers so I will be glad to help you out."
"Thank you so much. So I will follow you."
Mason took off down an isle and I just followed and he would pick something up and if I liked it I would nod and he would put it in the basket. Carson would come and drop her stuff off in the basket when she had no more arm room to hold the items.
I could not believe how much stuff was in the cart as we walked up to the check-out counter. The look on the employee's face was priceless.
"I am really sorry for the amount of things that we are purchasing today." I did feel bad for her, because this could take a while.
"It is just fine. This is my job and I get a bonus for any total for over a thousand dollars."
"Well I believe that all this stuff here is going to be way over that amount."
I watched her smile and begin to scan things one by one and Mason helped by putting the items into bags, so the checker would only have to scan the items.
I looked at the total and it just kept going up and up and up. I really hope Cale is going to be okay with how much we are spending; because he never gave Carson and me a limit.
It took about fifteen minutes to scan everything and get everything bagged. "Your total today is going to be $3,643.92."
I couldn't help by dropping my mouth open. Who the hell spends almost four thousand on decorations for a baby shower? I mean I could see for a wedding, but not for a baby shower. Carson pushed passed me and handed the checker Cale's credit card. She scanned it and I signed it and we were headed back home.
"God my feet hurt." They really did we were probably in that store for almost two hours and being this pregnant your feet tend to swell.
We arrived back home and I helped carry the bags into the dining hall, where the baby shower was going to be taking place..... By the time that we had brought everything inside my feet were hurting so bad, that with every step I took I wanted to cry. I was able to make it to the couch and my feet gave out on me and I fell right into the side of the couch, and my stomach hit the side. I couldn't help but scream, I sat down on the couch and grabbed my stomach and tried to breath.
Mason came running in and kneeled down in front of me. "Princess are you okay?"
I took a couple of breaths so I was going to be able to answer his question. "My feet gave out on me and I fell into the side of the couch and my stomach was the first to hit."
"I want my dad to take a look at you. Is that okay with you?" I just nodded my head.
Mary came into the living room and ran over to me. "It’s okay Mary, Dallas here just took a spill and I have my dad coming over to take a look at her."
"Mary where is Cale?"
"He said that he was going to do some shopping and he is too far away for the mind link to work."
I just nodded my head. I saw Mary look down at me feet and her eyes grew wide. "Dallas honey, how long have your feet been this swollen?"
"The past two days. They won't seem to go down at all."
I heard the door open and Dr. Pond came in and came and kneeled down in front of me. "Alright Dallas I am going to need you to lay down on the couch for me." I did as I was told, and it felt amazing to lie down and put my feet up.
Dr. Pond started pressing around my stomach and each time he pressed, it hurt pretty bad. "Does this hurt Dallas?"
All I could do was nod my head, because the pain was just too much. "Dallas please put your legs up. I am going to check you from the inside."
I did as I was told and as soon as Dr. Pond put his fingers in me, I could help but scream because the pain was even worse and I couldn't help but let a few tears escape my eyes. This hurts so much; I have no idea how I am going to survive the labor portion of this.
I was so tired of being pregnant and I was only pregnant for two months. I have no idea how a normal she-wolf carry their pups for five months, and the humans must be stronger than we give them credit for because they carry their baby for nine months. I have to say that I think that I am the lucky one out of them both.
"Dallas, you have almost finished dilating, so that means that you could deliver any second. Also since you’re so close to delivering, and your feet are as swollen as they are; I am putting you a bed rest. If you need to move and get up, please have Mason or Cale carry you. We don't need you falling and harming your son now do we?"
I just nodded. I was really tired and I turned my head towards the couch and past out cold.
I felt myself being undressed. I opened my eyes and saw Cale undressing me, to put my pajamas on. He got to my shirt and looked me straight in the face and smiled.
"Hey baby; how are you?"
"Tired." That was all I could muster. Cale pulled my shirt off and replaced it with one of his t-shirts and helped me under the covers.
"Baby you need your rest. So I will let you sleep until it is time for your baby shower. And please don't move without letting me know so I can come and carry you."
I just nodded and rolled over and went back to sleep. It felt as though I could not get enough sleep these days.
I felt a sharp pain in my lower stomach. I looked at the clock and it said 2:37 a.m. I rolled over to see that Cale was nowhere to be found. I sat up and got myself to the side of my bed, I knew that with my feet that this was going to be hard to get up and to go find Cale.
I finally managed to stand up and I felt another pain and a bunch of warm liquid was falling down my legs to the floor. The pain started to come faster and more painful, I sat back down on the bed.
"CALE!" I screamed as loud as I could. I bet it would wake up the whole house.
I heard a bunch of feet running, so I guess I was right; I had waked the whole house up. Cale came in first and started walking to my side. "Baby what is wr.........." He slipped and looked up at me.
"Cale............I ......think my water......broke." I had to say between my teeth because the pain was just so strong.
Mason came running in. "Mason go and get your dad, I think Dallas is having the baby."
I saw Mason running out of my room and Mary came in and helped me lay down again. She ran into my bathroom and grabbed me a cold wash clothes and put it on my forehead.
Another wave of pain hit me and I screamed because the pain was going down my bottom half and it was hurting so bad, I kept blacking out.
"Baby, you have to breath and stay calm."
Cale climbed behind me and pulled me to sit up and lean against his chest. That hurt so bad too, I was having a hard time trying not to black out because this was the worst pain that I have ever felt.
Cale's POV:
I was downstairs in my office when I heard Dallas scream my name. I immediately dropped what I was doing and ran up the stairs and threw open my door. I went to her bedside to ask her what was wrong. "Baby what is wr................" I slipped in something and almost landed on by butt.
"Cale...........I.......think my water......broke."
Oh my god was Dallas, actually going into labor. Was I going to be a dad today? I hope I was, because I want to meet my little guy; my son. I saw Mason come through the door.
"Mason go and get your dad, I think Dallas is having the baby."
He turned around and flew out the door. My mother came in and helped Dallas lay down again and she kept screaming and I felt so bad, because I wish that I could take some of the pain away from her. My mother ran into the bathroom and came out with a cold wash cloth and laid it on her forehead.
"Baby, you have to breath and stay calm."
I climbed behind her and sat her up and pulled her into my chest so my arms were around her front. I could tell that she was having a hard time staying awake.
Dr. Pond where the hell are you..................
