"Hey, you." Adrian said, leaning against the lockers beside Claire's locker.
"Hey pen-pal-turned-real-life-friend."
"That was a mouthful."
"It's called dedication Ade. I'm dedicated to this friendship."
"Ade?"
"I told you I'm dedicated." She shrugged and he smiled in response.
"Dedicated enough to do my chemistry lab report for me?" He asked, having a hint of hope.
She laughed loudly on purpose before promptly shutting her mouth and shaking her head. "Nice try, but no I'm not."
"Hey, when's your birthday?" He asked, having the sudden thought.
"That was random." She replied.
"Can't I show some dedication to this dying friendship."
"Dying?"
"Yeah, clearly I'm the only one putting an effort into this friendship. It's turning way too one-sided."
"Excuse me?"
"I don't see you asking me when my birthday is." He countered and Claire was holding back a laugh at how serious Adrian was pretending to be.
"You're awesome for playing along with my stories."
"Still didn't answer my question, though." He asked, smiling in amusement.
