His name was Jensen Ackles.
Dean Winchester was the other name that people knew him as.
But the line between fiction and reality was never really drawn because when he left the set it was like the real monsters were just out there as they were on set with him.
Jensen rolled my eyes back at his costar, Jared Padalecki, "How much longer is this gonna be?"
"Why are you so ready to get out of here?"
Jensen glared back at his costar as the director called for a retake of the last scene.
The worst thing a person can do is redo a take that was perfect as anything.
Jared laughed back at Jensen, "Maybe you should do your take right."
"I did you dumb fuck but I kinda got a date tonight."
"You mean she is actually letting you date."
Jensen glared back at him.
But a piece of Jensen knew his costar was right.
It had been 2 months but every time he walked out of his place he was attacked by cameras and people asking him things they shouldn't know about.
How his divorce had gone on for so long? Who got the most money?
What was gonna happen to their homes?
What was gonna happen to their daughter?
But it didn't bother his ex as she was already dating another man that made the world say she is doing great and has moved on to greater things.
Jensen knew better.
He was taught better.
He got her through a friend and now she had one of his old friends.
Jared shook his head back at him. "Sorry but I hope you have fun tonight."
"Yea same here man." Jensen said as the director called action.
It may have been late but Jensen got away from the set and to the date.
But it wasn't really a date he was late for as he waited at the bar for another hour and nothing. He turned back to the bartender as she flashed him a smile. "Another beer Jensen, since I see she didn't come once again?"
"Yea please, I can't believe her; she said she was coming tonight."
She placed a Budweiser infront of him as he looked back at her confused. "Oh sorry this is for you miss."
Jensen then glanced over at this girl sitting next to him eating on some fries and a burger with a beer infront of her. "A woman that drinks a Budweiser, wow you are a rare breed."
"I'm even rarer when you see me out in work boots." I grinned back at him. "Excuse me, do you know of any furniture shops in town that remove old furniture and take old fridges?"
The bartender looked back at me, "I know of a few I will give you their number."
I grinned back at her as I went back to my burger.
Jensen glared over at me out of the corner of his eye when he saw the bandage on my arm.
I smiled when I felt my phone start to ring. I shook my head as I saw the name.
"What do you want?"
Jensen glanced over at me.
"Last time and no I'm not coming home. Oh shut up and go find your nasty husband. And another thing call me when your demon children are not fucking awake I can't hear a single word you are saying right now."
He tossed his beer back as I went on fighting with my sister.
"You are such a bitch. God why didn't I push you down the steps as children? I would be so happy right now." I slammed my phone down on the bar as the bartender looked back at me.
"Need something stronger?"
"No, I am good for the night." I said back to her.
I then felt Jensen looking over at me a little worried and confused.
I looked back at him with a little smile on my lips. "I'm so sorry I didn't mean for that to come out, I'm not a crazy person. Oh fuck you think I'm crazy."
"No, I just didn't know that killing that person would make you happy as a person."
"My sister is a fucking nut and I'm home and she wants me to stay with her and her absent husband and her 5 children. I would rather be a prisoner of war than deal with that shit again."
"Here is that list of numbers."
I looked back at the bartender, "Thanks I will for sure call in the morning."
"That's still kinda harsh to say to someone that is family." He said back to me.
I looked up at him as I tossed some cash onto the bar, "You don't know my sister."
"But I mean family is family."
"Sometimes it depends on the family."
Jensen nodded his head back at me.
I stopped what I was doing and looked at him, "And you are too pretty to be in some random biker's bar in the middle of the night."
"Wow, I can't believe you just said that to me."
"And yet I can't believe you are still talking to me about this."
Jensen sat there confused as he turned around and saw that the door was closing behind me.
"That girl has some balls." The bartender smiled down at the money that was left behind.
"I know." Jensen glanced down at the beer with a curl at the corner of his lips.
Jensen finished up his beer as he heard his phone going off. It was Jared calling him. "Wait what, no, I didn't get that by the date, she didn't even show up but..."
Even through it was later than I liked, I walked around the corner shop as I knew I had some time to waste off my beer. I picked up some food looking around for something to drink when the door opened and the little bell went off.
I looked over the chips as I came to the candy. It was either chocolate or gummy bears.
It was gonna be a hard choice as I really didn't know which one I wanted to take home with me.
As I went to reach for the gummy bears, I heard his voice.
I glanced up as the guy was holding a gun to the cashier's head.
I dropped down below the isle as I glanced up to see the girl behind the counter. She looked about 20 but she was scared and she was overthinking everything
She was about to get herself killed.
"All of your cash."
I closed my eyes as I came home to escape this.
I came home to get away from this life.
I didn't need this.
I didn't want this.
I crawled around to the corner and looked as the girl was having a hard time opening the register.
She glanced over at me as I shook my head back at her.
I pointed at the guy as she glanced back at him with tears rolling down her cheeks.
I closed my eyes as I knew what I had to do.
I went back through the isle and was able to get behind him. I held my hand up to keep the girl quiet as I went up behind him.
"What is your problem, do you wanna die?" he pointed the gun at her.
"NO, but do you?"
The guy turned around as I sent my hand up his nose breaking it right away.
"Get down!" I shouted at the girl as she disappeared behind the counter.
The guy was still holding the gun as I hit his arm then kicked his foot out from under him dropping the gun. I picked the gun up as he was on his knees holding his bleeding nose.
I looked back at the girl, "Call the police right now."
The guy flinched and I pushed the gun against his head, "Do not fucking move or I will shot you."
He stopped and looked back at me.
The girl put the phone down. "They will be here soon and thank you so much."
I nodded my head as her as I saw the guy flinch. I flipped the gun over and sent it across his face knocking him out.
The girl covered her face as I took the gun apart.
She looked at me as I went back to gather my things.
I put them on the counter, "You can still ring me up right?"
She just looked at me as the guy moaned from down around my feet.
"Oh don't worry about him, he will be fine." I smiled back at her.
About 15 minutes later the police and the owner arrived to the store, the girl took off running toward the owner. The guy wrapped her up in her arms.
I glanced up as the officers picked the guy up, "He is gonna need a hospital, his nose is broke."
The owner came over to me, "You can have whatever, and you saved my daughter tonight."
I glanced back at the girl, "I would suggest self-defense classes and getting a few other people to work in here at night or close earlier. Don't leave a little girl like that in here alone."
The one police officer glanced up at me, "Have you been drinking tonight?"
"I had one beer about 30 minutes ago."
"Yea she has been in here for a while, she said she was working off her beer." The daughter muttered out.
The officer looked back to me, "Which bar did you leave out of?"
"The one down the street, I came in here for some supplies."
The owner then looked at me, "Aren't you that Sykes girl that used to live over on maple drive?"
I nodded my head back at him, "Yea, they moved to Seattle a while back."
The officer nodded his head, "Well thanks for saving that girl tonight."
I waved back to him as they left.
The daughter smiled back at me, "Thanks for saving me tonight."
"I didn't save you kid, I saved that guy." I walked back down to my car as I just wanted to get home and get some sleep.
The next morning after the few beers that I had worked off, I called the number that the bartender gave me and I told them to come get everything.
I walked around the house looking at the crappy furniture that we used to worship as a kid. I shook my head as I went into the kitchen and saw that the fridge had stopped working.
"Good thing I didn't buy anything last night to go into you."
I looked out into the back yard as I walked out toward the deck.
I put my foot on the deck as it made a noise.
"Another project," I shook my head as I went down the hallway to the closet.
I looked down at the bag that was just sitting there looking back at me.
It had been a long time and walking back into that world last night gave me something I hadn't had in a while.
It was a rush going back to that.
It was a rush making sure that I knew his every move.
It was a rush making sure that my moves would mean that they both made it through the night.
I shook my head as I went out of the room.
That wasn't me anymore.
That was never going to be me anymore.
It was time that I moved on and it was time that I gave it up.
I needed to give it up.
Just then someone knocked on the front door and it was the movers.
I told them everything can go. I pointed to the back bedrooms that had old bed sets that could go. The one guy looked at me.
"I'm living in an old vacation home. I think I wanna redo it."
"I don't blame you kid."
I laughed back at him as they started to clear out the house.
I glanced down as my phone was going off, "Hey Mom, what's up?"
"Hey honey, so how is the redo coming along?"
"Someone is taking the furniture out now."
"I'm so happy for that dear, that place just needs an update. But honey me and your father was talking, we wanna give you the house or sell it to you for something."
"Seriously Mom, wow thank you, I mean that's incredible."
"So we wanna come up this weekend and get the paper work done."
"I may not have much done by then."
"We will only spend a day."
"Ok Mom, whatever that's amazing wow."
I turned back to the movers as I heard one of them call out for me, "Hey I gotta help the movers with something."
"Ok dear, see you this weekend."
I walked back to the front part of the house where there was Ali standing there. "Oh for fucks sake, what are you doing here?"
"You are selling the furniture?"
"Call Mom, she said its ok."
"She is crazy that is family pieces."
I looked back at her, "We bought that when we lived here for Dad's work. Now shut up and go back home."
"You are so messed up in the head, I mean Victoria, and you need help."
I looked down at her, "You don't leave I'm calling the police."
"Oh Victoria, you need to get back to your medicine."
"OH fuck you Ali, now leave seriously fucking leave."
Ali grabbed my arm, "You aren't ok in the head Victoria, you need to come home with me and get better. I have seen this before."
I pushed her off of me. "Don't tell me what I need Ali, you think I'm all fucked up and I'm not. I'm perfectly fine."
"And that's the problem, you spent like 10 years going over there and you aren't all messed up. That's very sick Victoria."
"Leave now before I call the police." I said back to her.
Ali looked at me as she got back into her van. "I will talk to Mom tonight about what is going on with you."
I waved back to her as I picked up my phone when I stopped.
It was like before.
It was like when we were kids.
She was always running like this when things weren't good.
This was her making sure that I was on her level.
I glanced back at the house as the movers were coming out with the last bit of stuff, "Sorry about that."
The one mover looked at me, "I am kinda use to that kinda stuff."
I smiled back at him, "Seriously, I am sorry."
"Everything is ok kid." He said as they got into their truck and pulled away from the house.
I nodded my head back at him as they were gone.
Everything was gone now.
Everyone was gone now.
I closed my eyes as I took a deep breath.
