"I swear I know this dude."
I tell Jake as we sit on my bed listening to Mike's mixtape.
"Blackbear! Peyton." I call her. She's sitting on her bed on her laptop with Jenny.
"Doesn't this sound like someone you know." I play his verse back.
"OhmyGod, yeah!" She touches her fingers to her bottom lips as she thinks.
"Ugh! I know but I don't know." She says after a long silence.
"I know!" I lay against my headboard.
"It's like I know the voice, I just don't know who."
"Exactly!" Peyton says.
"Hey"
It's crazy that just seeing that Jaden texted me this simple three lettered word would make me smile as much as it did.
"Hey :)" I text back.
"Nothing really just chilling with Peyton, Jake and his sister."
"He's already there?"
"Well it is Thanksgiving tomorrow, Jaden."
"When are they going to their hotel?"
"I dunno. Their parents left with mine so they could check in. "
"So you guys are home... alone?"
Jake silently chuckles next to me.
I look up and realize he's been reading my conversation.
"Shut up." I tell him.
"Yah. With Peyton, Brandon, and Jake's sister."
"I don't know about him."
I look up to Jake and he quickly looks away to the screen of my laptop.
"You don't even know him!"
"Is that a bad thing?"
When I look at Jake this time he doesn't look away.
"He's a keeper." Jake nods to my phone.
"Peyton, can you take Jenny out. I have to make a call."
She sighs.
"Yeah."
"Thanks." I say as the two of them get up and walk to the door.
Jake gets up as if to follow them.
"You stay." I tell him as I dial Jaden's number.
"I don't think you wanna do that." Jake nods to my phone.
"Why not?"
"He has unnecessary beef with me and an intervention or whatever the fuck you're trying to do won't change that."
"Well what else am I supposed to do Jake? He doesn't like when we're together."
"Ditto." Jake mumbles.
I quickly look over to him.
"What?" I ask.
"What?"
"You don't like Jaden." I tell him.
"I never said that."
"You never said you did."
Jake says nothing but a small smile starts to form on his lips.
"Jake this isn't funny."
"Stella,I never met the kid yet. I can't tell you whether or not I like him if I never met him."
I pout.
"What?" Jake asks.
"You mean a lot to me Jake, so I really want you and Jaden to get along."
I can see in his eyes that I'm slowly winning this argument.
"He really cares about me, Jake."
"Just like Tyler right?" Jake asks.
"What?" I ask recovering from that question that I really wasn't ready for.
"Nothing just- just forget I said anything." Jake waves it off.
"No. How did you know about us? We weren't talking when Tyler and I were dating."
Jake blushes.
"We had mutual friends." He shrugs.
Tyler was this senior I dated while I was a freshman. Let's just say the relationship didn't end well...
"Hannah?" I ask him.
"Yeah."
"She had some killer parties, didn't she?" I ask him.
"Yeah. They were alright." I grin.
"What?" Jake asks.
"It was you." I say realizing.
"What do you mean?" Jake asks with the hint of a smile on his face.
"You know what I'm talking about."
He gives me a questioning look as if asking if I really do know.
"You're the guy that got into a fight with him a fight with him at Hannah's party."
Jake blushes.
"It was you!" I throw myself on him and wrap my arms around his neck and he laughs.
"It's nothing really Stella. It happened years ago."
"But you still did it. " I tell him.
"What was I supposed to do? He was being an asshole about the whole situation so I had to set him straight." I smile.
"And that's why I love you. It made my day to see that puffy face and black eye when he walked into school on Monday." Jake laughs and we go back to listening to Mike...
