August had been up here in Cali with me for two days and today was his birthday. I had lots planned for him especially because he was leaving tomorrow. I appreciate that he was okay with spending his birthday with fucked up ole me so I was gonna make it count.
I crawled on the bed crawling on top of him.
"August wake up."
He groaned and roll over making me fall off the bed.
I sighed and got back up, shaking him. "August wake upppppp."
"What do you want with my life Iyasia damn." He groaned.
"I want to get your day started early."
"It's too early."
"It's 11am get the fuck up." I said seriously.
He sighed heavily and fluttered his eyes open giving me a death stare.
I smiled wide and got off the bed. "Get ready, you have an hour."

"Asia it's too hot fa da beach, I like my complexion dawg. The sun is on fuck you right now."
"Stop complaining August omg."
I rolled my eyes as she dragged me to a little set up she had. There was a table with a full Kfc meal laid out.
I stale faced her. "You tryna be funny?"
She cracked up laughing. "You need to switch it up August damn, Popeyes ain't going no where."
I rolled my eyes but couldn't help but smile at how corny she was.
She sat down first and I did soon after. We prayed before we ate our meal which is something I told her needed to be routine. Praying needed to be ritual in her life from now on.
"What else you got planned fa me?" I smiled and then dipped in my mashed potatoes shoving it in my mouth.
"Not too much, I don't know my way around Cali like that but I didn't want your birthday to go to waste."
I chuckled. "Ion usually do much anyway, so I appreciate dis."
She smiled and nodded and continued to eat her food. Once we were finished we cleaned up our mess. I began to walk away but Asia pulled out a beats pill and started blasting black peoples favorite line dancing song, 'The Cha Cha Slide.' I looked back at her and smirked.
"Cmon!" She yelled and she got the attention of a few of the other people on the beach. Some of them got up and joined her in her antics.
"Oh fuck no." I laughed.
"Come onnnnnn!" Everyone said simultaneously and Asia had the biggest grin on her face.
"Come on birthday boy." She laughed.
I shook my head and walked over joining them.
"To the left, take it back now yal, one hop this time!" We sang and danced along to the music.
"Oh baby you better get it." An older black woman next to me egged me on.
"Aight now mama." I laughed.
When it was time to cha cha she whined her hips real smooth making sure she rubbed up against me.
Asia was cracking up laughing once she noticed and kept dancing as the group got larger.
"Aight na mama, a real nigga like me ah take you down." I teased.
"Take me down birthday boy." She purred.
I couldn't help but laugh, she was wilding but I enjoyed every second of this. Enjoying my birthday with a bunch of people I didn't know from a can of paint and I couldn't thank Asia enough for this.
It went on for about two hours of just dancing and a good time and Asia and I were headed out.
"I'm worn out as shit. Where we going now?"
"Back to the hotel."
"Damn my day over already?"
"No dummy." She laughed. "I come baring gifts."
I laughed at her silliness and we were quiet for the most part until we arrived at the hotel. We got out the car and headed to her room and I walked over to bed sitting on the edge and taking off my shoes.
Asia went in the closet and came out soon after with a ton of bags.
"Asia when did you even buy all that?" We'd been together every second since I got here.
"I planned to give this stuff to you once I got back from cali but since you're here, I can do it now." She said over excitedly.
I smiled and shook my head as she brought the stuff over to me. I went through all of it and Asia had gotten me a ton of cologne, some ray bands, jewelry and few other things.
"You ain't have to get me all dis A, I appreciate it doe."
She shook her head. "I did, you've been there for me like no one else and showed me a love like no other." She smiled. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me and I mean that." Her voice started to crack. "I have two more things." She smiled.
"A really?"
"I think you're gonna like this more than anything else." She assured me and I smirked and got relaxed on the bed. She pulled out a dvd and inserted it into the DVD player.
"Brother August!" Vic's face appeared on the screen. "Asia don't know I'm doing this." She laughed. "And I know I'm superrrrrrr early, but you never know. Things happen and I just want to make for sure I say happy birthday to you." She giggled. "I love you a whole lot and you're the best big brother ever. You helped me and A a lot. Um what else?" She looked as if she was thinking hard. "Oh!" She exclaimed. "Brother August, there's this guy at school who makes me feel how you make A feel." She blushed like she was actually in love. "He's not better than you but he's close and I told him that if he ever hurts me you'll kick his ass."
She roared in laughter and so did I. It's like she was right here with me.
"Vic what are you doing?!" You could hear Asia yelling in the background. "Bye brother August, gremlin is coming." She giggled. "I love you."
Tears were rushing down both Asia and I's face. There was not a day that went by where I didn't miss her.
Asia looked over at me and smiled and wiped her eyes. "I found that in my phone about a week after she passed." She smiled. "There's one more thing that we got for you together." She got up and headed to the night stand pulling a box out the drawer.
She handed it to me and as soon as I opened it I began to sob. It was a gold chain with a picture of all three of us in the photo booth at the mall. It had an engraving in it that read 'From your gremlin and rascal, we love you.'
When I looked up at Asia she was crying too. I put the chain on and then pulled Asia in for a hug.
"Thank you so much." I mumbled in the crook of her neck.
Emotions had completely taken over Asia because she could no longer speak from sobbing. I know that losing Vic was a big part of what she was going through and I don't think she ever properly mourned.
"I miss her so much." She cried.
I rubbed her back and rocked her back and forth. "I miss her too A."
"She was only 12, oh my god why'd they take her from me." She cried out loud, almost screaming.
I just continued to hold her and rock her back and forth. "She up there with yals momma A, they rooting for you. If you don't get better for nobody else do it for them." I cried with her.
"Vic I'm so sorry, mommy I'm sorry." She continued to cry and we sat there for a moment crying together.
"I need them, I'm lost without them. They were all I had. Why'd they leave me." She screamed through her tears.
I hugged her tighter and rubbed her back. Asia's life seemed to be just a bunch of unfortunate events and personally I don't know how she deals.
Once Asia gained her composure she sat up wiping her eyes and I did the same. When I looked at her, her eyes were puffy and red and so were mine we both laughed at how silly we looked.
"What you got planned next?" I asked rubbing my eyes.
"I was gonna take you to a strip club." She laughed. "But I think I have a better idea."
"What?"
"How about we watch 'Home' in honor of Vic?"
"The movie about blobs and shit." I laughed.
She nodded and I smiled. "Let's watch it."
She turned it on and crawled next to me. "Happy Birthday August, you old fuck."
I laughed. "Not today, satan."
