I awoke to the sun in my eyes. Before I went to sleep last night Yuuki explained to me what St. Chocolatle's Day was all about. It was honestly kind of silly, at least in my eyes.
The girls in the Day Class gave chocolates to the boys in the Night Class they liked to show their affection for them. Of course, it was a big hustle for the Guardians.
"Happy St. Chocolatle Day!" Yuuki exclaimed as she barged into my room.
I was startled as I suddenly jolted up. I was feeling a little groggy and had bed head. What's worse was that I didn't even have my cloak on.
It worried me. People who knew what I looked like just used me. Would Yuuki see me differently?
"Yuuki, you startled me!" I hissed before breaking into a small, but nervous, giggle.
"Today is a big day so you have to get up early." She looked wide eyed at me. "You look beautiful."
I frowned, staying silent.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
"I--I don't like it when people see what I look like," I said while covering half my face with the covers.
"Why's that? You have nothing to hide."
I stayed silent for a brief moment. "Before I came to Cross I never had any true friends at the academy where I was trained to hunt down Level E's. I was always used..."
"Well, Cross Acadamy is different you have nothing to be afraid about! Besides if boys start hitting on you just ignore them."
I giggled. "Okay..."
Should I?
"I'll wait outside while you get ready."
She walked out and I got out of my comfy bed to get my Day Class uniform on. Afterwards, I put on my white armband then started to brush my hair, revealing gorgeous curls.
I was willing to take a risk that day.
"Ready to go!" I exclaimed, opening the door to see Yuuki before we headed down to the gates together moments later.

"Alright everyone, listen up!" Yuuki exclaimed.
She blew a whistle on top of the gates in a dire attempt to get everyone's attention; yet no one turned their gazes towards her. The girls flailing their arms stopped and stared at me. Not at Yuuki, me. I looked away.
Yuuki blowed the whistle again and all the attention fixated on me went to her.
"Today needs to be delt with carefully! We want you all to get your chocolates to your crushes safely. You there!"
Yuuki pointed to a girl with chestnut braids scaling the wall. However, before she was over she stumbled and fell, getting caught by Zero moments later.
"Nice catch, Zero!" Yuuki yelled.
"If none of you behave I'll have it so this event is banned!" Zero exclaimed annoyingly.
All the girls groaned and looked angrily at him. At least for a brief moment there was silence. As he was walking by me he paused.
"You look nice without the cloak," he mumbled, so only I could hear, before continuing to walk off.
"T-thanks?" I said confused.
That's the first time Zero had actually complemented me. It felt odd but hearing him say that made me little.... happy for some reason.
The gates opened and we needed to get the girls in lines marked with the specific name of the student in the Night Class they had a gift for. It was a hustle since most girls wanted to disobey but it was done.
"St. Chocolatle's Day begins!" Yuuki blew the whistle and the Night Class boys got in their lines.
Suddenly, Aido made me suspicious.
"What's your blood type?" he asked a girl.
"Uhh...A?" she replied, not looking very fazed by his question. I tapped Aido on his shoulder.
"Aido, you can't take anything else up except the chocolates!" I hissed under my breath. He groaned and continued to the next girl.
I saw Kaname with his hands full. It was no surprise that the dorm leader would get the most treats. It really was a shame since I knew that Yuuki made him something for the holiday. Something homemade.
Looking back on it, I didn't know if I should've gotten him something. He was my brother after all, but did he remember me? I didn't want to look like a fool.
I walked up to Yuuki and elbowed her. "Time to give him what you made."
She shrunk almost instantly. Moments later we both fell to the floor after being elbowed by a group of girls. A green box fell out of Yuuki's pocket and Zero picked it up.
"Kaname, here." He tossed it to the Pureblood.
"Thank you, Yuuki," he cooed as he gave her a gentle smile.
He turned and headed down to the Moon Dorms with the rest of the Night Class. I could feel the girls glaring in our direction. Zero yelled at them and they all to headed to class in a frenzy. Moments later Yuuki and Zero started a fight.
"Why did you do that Zero?!" she yelled as she began to punch him in the arm continuously.
"Well at least he got it." Zero put his hand on Yuuki's head which stopped her from hitting him. He then turned and walked away after a few moments, leaving Yuuki and I alone.
"We better head to class," I said, turning suddenly and walking towards the main building.
"Okay!"
Yuuki caught up with me and we headed in together to start another long day.

Classes were of course boring. After they ended I headed down to the Headmaster's Office after being requested to be seen. Once I reached down there I got some very horrifying news.
"Please sit, Sakura." I did as I was told.
"What is this about, headmaster?" I asked. "Did something happen?"
"Y-yes... You see, your mother is sick..." My eyes widened as a small gasp escaped my lips. "She became gravely ill after coming back from a mission. There's a car down at the gates waiting for you if--"
I didn't care what else he had to say. I immediately raced out of the room and headed for the gates. Once I reached the car and got inside it instantly drove away.

"Father, where's mother?!" I heaved, out of breath as I barged open the door to my father's study.
"She's in her room," he said looking down very sadly. "I'm afraid it's too severe."
I headed up the stairs to mother and father's room. When she saw me a smile crossed her sunken face.
"My beautiful baby girl," she rasped.
I gave her a gentle hug before kneeling down next to her bed. I held her hand tight in my grasp. She clasped mine as well but was too weak to firmly hold it.
"Mother, please don't die....you're strong!" I exclaimed as I was fighting back tears.
"I wanted to see you before I pass on," she said. "I'm so sorry....I don't have much life left in me...."
"Mom, please!" I screeched.
"Listen to me, Sakura. I had always wanted a child but I couldn't bare any of my own....You always will be my perfect little girl. I'm so proud of you."
She caressed my cheek with the back of her hand. I could feel the warmth fading and it brought pain to my heart.
"I'm sorry," she heaved. "I love you."
A single tear streamed down my cheek. She knew I was sad, yet she smiled. I knew she would going to a better place but without my mother...
"I..." I breathed in a deep breath. "I love you too."
Her tightened grip around my hand loosened and I sat there silently for a moment before a stream of tears cascaded down my face. I didn't let go of her hand, not for a second. I felt a huge pain in my heart as I lost the only mother I ever knew.
Father came barging into the room. He rushed over to me and wrapped his arms around me.
"Sakura..." I could feel something wet land on my shoulder and I knew he was crying as well.
"She's... gone..." I sniffled. "Why...."
I put my head on the bed and sobbed my broken heart out.
