"That was fucked up." Jake smiles.
We met up a little bit ago and now we're just walking around the neighborhood.
"That was funny." I laugh.
"Do you know how much more she likes me now that she knows I know you?" I smile.
"Hey, that's not my fault." I put my hands up defensively.
"She's just so... clingy. I don't like it." He says.
"I know, I saw." I tell him.
"Well good luck with ending things with her."
"Can't you do it for me?" He asks.
"No!"
"Come on! Bust out a little song on your guitar." I laugh.
"Jake no. This is on you. But if it makes you feel better I would've went up to her as the mad other girlfriend if I wasn't dating Jaden." He smiles.
"I still think you should sing." I roll my eyes playfully.
"Please." He begs.
"Jake no." I tell him.
"C'mon Stella." He stops me.
"For me?" He takes my hands in his and looks in my eyes. I hate when he does this. He makes the most adorable pleading face. There's no way you can say no to that face.
"Sing what?" His face into a smile and his smile makes me smile.
"I don't know songs about breaking up with a clingy girlfriends." I continue.
"We can make a cover." He says.
"This is so messed up." I tell him.
"But..." He smiles.
"But ok." I say and he grins.
"Yus!" We run into the house and I find the perfect song to cover.
It was already a song I really liked so I knew the cords on the guitar. I borrow Jake's acoustic guitar and he shows me the address. I ring the doorbell while he hides on the side of the house.
"I hate you." I mouth.
"I love you too." He mouths. I roll my eyes and then Amanda comes to the door.
"Stella! What are you doing here? How do you know where I live?" She asks.
"Jake sent me here to play a little song for you." I tell her.
"Ok." She leans on her doorframe. I take a breath and then start strumming.
"{Verse 1}
My problem isn't that I miss you, cause I don't
My problem isn't that I kissed you, oh woah-oh
I figured out
That you're not the girl I thought you're about
You're just caught in a place
That sometime will erase in my heart
{Chorus}
You're my type of girl I guess
If I was stuck in FSU
For the rest of my life
But people change
Thank God I did
Just because I liked you back then
It doesn't mean I like you no-ow
Just because I liked you back then
It doesn't mean I like you."
I strum a little bit and try to avoid eye contact.
"{Verse 2}
You're problem's not for lack of trying, cause you do
It's just that you need to see there's a line, oh woah-oh" Her jaw drops.
"You're probably standing here
Thinking things you think I wanted to hear
But you got it all wrong
I've already moved on my dear.
{Chorus}"
I start strumming again for a little and then go into the breakdown.
"When you're standing next to me
I can't breathe so easily
You're holding on just way too tight
But when I take two steps away
It sheds some light on my day
Yeah, you can't go back
It's all in the past
Guess you gotta laugh at it!" I shrug.
"{Chorus}
You're my type of girl, I guess
If I was stuck in FSU
For the rest of my life
But people change
Thank God I did
And if there's some confusion
Let me tell you you're just delusional, get a clue
Cause people change
Thank God I did
Thank God I did
Thank God I diii-id
Just beacuse I liked you back then
It doesn't mean I like you no-ow
Just because I liked you back then
It doesn't mean I like you
It doesn't mean I like you
Just because I liked you back then
It doesn't mean I like youu, noooow.
Sorry Amanda" I pout.
"You know I would be pissed, but you just sang to me...so I'm ok." I grin.
"Great." I tell her. So we say bye and then I walk off to Jake.
"There you go. It's done."
"How'd she take it?" He asks.
"She said it's alright since I sang it." Jake shakes his head smiling.
"Yeah, she's a big fan."
"Mmm. I see that." So then we walk back to his house.
"Go on Amanda's twitter." Jake tells me.
"What is it?" I ask him.
"Mandyyy92." I look it up and laugh when I read her tweet.
"@Mandyyy92: So I just got dumped by Stella Smock singing to me... and I think I'm ok with that." Lmao! That was the most awkward moment of my life!" I reply.
So then Jake and I do absolutely nothing for a while when my phone starts ringing with some random Cali number.
"Hello?" I ask.
"Yeah, is this Stella?" A guy asks.
"Yes."
"Good, this is Ryan Tedder." My eyes widen and my jaw drops.
"What?" Jake asks and I don't respond to him.
"Oh. Hi." I smile.
"So I heard your song, Bus Stop."
"You did?" I ask him.
"Yeah and I think you're right, it does need a colab." I grin.
"So you'll do it?"
"Yeah."
"OhmyGod, ok. Do you want me to go to your studio or do you wanna come to mine or-" He stops me by laughing.
"I'll be at Def Jam on Saturday in the afternoon." I nod.
"Sounds like a plan." I say.
"So I'll see you then?" He asks.
"Most definantly." I say and then he hangs up.
"Who was it?" Jake asks.
"That was Ryan Tedder." I say still in shock.
"From OneRepublic?"
"Uh huh." I nod.
"Why?"
"Because I'm doing a collab with freaking Ryan Tedder!!" I scream and then run into his arms.
"Whaat?" He says and I laugh.
"I know! It's so crazy!"
So we go to his room and start watching youtube videeos while I wait for my dad to get back...
