"I'm telling my friends we're resting."
"Good luck on getting anyone to believe that."
The girls were lying on bed, looking out the big window at the master cabin.
"Do you want to go out now?"
Jennie snuggled up to Jisoo, "Ugh, not yet."
She back kissing Jisoo on the lips and things were getting hot again. Jennie hissed a little, enjoying Jisoo's little adventure down her neck. Jennie could feel the heat rising inside her, but then she remembered that this probably wasn't the best timing; not with her friends were sniffing around.
"Baby, baby..." Jennie reluctantly pulled back, "if we continue this, I can't hold back anymore."
Jisoo stopped. She let out a loud sigh and covered her face with the pillow. Jennie slid up to her and pulled her for a hug as Jisoo was trying to take a few deep breaths.
After a few minute, Jisoo kissed her on the forehead, "thank you for today."
"I'm glad you're enjoying the evening," Jennie had a big, satisfied smile on her face, "you were so cranky earlier."
"I thought the baby bear didn't realized that today was Valentine's."
Jennie stopped for a second, "It's your first Velentine's."
"It is," Jisoo gently stroking Jennie's arm, "and you make it so special."
They were cruising passed the Dongjak bridge, Jisoo could see some city lights twinkling brighter than the stars.
"I rarely have a time like this," Jisoo was hesitant at first, "Especially when the semester just began. Well, I rarely even have time during the summer."
"You don't go out with friends?"
"I usually take the summer job. And during the semester, I am too busy worrying about my grades. I think my world just revolves around it."
Jisoo took the risk. She wasn't one to share such stories with anyone, not even Lisa. And sharing this with Jennie was intimidating, not only because she didn't want Jennie's sympathy, but also because there was no good reason to do it.
However, as she held onto her girl tightly, she desired to expose her raw, unfiltered self. Even though she knew that Jennie wouldn't fully understand her experiences, she felt like the girl deserved to know who she really was and the things in her deepest thoughts.
"You feel like you missed a lot of things?"
"I do. I missed the summer parties in high school. Even the casual gatherings that I knew could be fun."
Jennie nodded, she squeezed Jisoo gently as she caressing her side.
"Sometimes I even wonder, what it feels like to study without the burden of having to score amongst the highest grades... every time. At every semester. If I fail even just once, it could be the end of everything.
"I wonder how it feels to be Soojoo, having the liberty of scrapping it at anytime and starting over again with something more exciting.
"I wonder how it feels to be Lisa, doing this for the sake of loving it. Or even Jinyoung. He refuses to fail just because it would be embarrassing to fail. I wonder how it feels."
They fell into silence. Jisoo could see Jennie was processing everything she just heard, weighting her response.
"Ever wanting to escape?"
"Despite the pressure, I actually love what I'm doing. You know, it's fascinating to study how things work around us."
"It's like paranormal activity but make it science."
Jisoo laughed, she was relieved that Jennie responded with humor rather than pity, "working with inanimate objects is so much better than working with humans."
Jennie rolled her eyes, "tell me about it. I don't get all the fuss learning people management. If they mess up, fire them. That simple."
"Baby???" Jisoo burst out laughing again, "that is so Jennie."
"Imagine having the time to explain what the employees do wrong and how to fix it meanwhile I have to go home early to make dinner for my future wife."
"Jennie! Stop teasing me..."
Jennie giggled, she kissed her, "but won't you like it?"
"Ugh..."
Jennie kissed her again, this time she made sure it was sweet and lingered a bit longer. She held Jisoo's gaze as she lay her head back on her shoulder.
"I hope despite all the troubles, you can always find courage and happiness in what you do. I have yet to see someone as tough minded as you. Tough times won't last, but tough people do."
Jisoo nodded, squeezing her gently to show her gratitude.
"And baby..."
"Yea?"
"When things get too tough, we'll figure out together. You're always safe with me."
Jisoo patted her head lightly. Lately, she noticed that Jennie was really obsessed to be her Edward, which she found cute and comforting.
"But I'm still the Edward here, okay?"
"Yes, as long as I'm your Abilene."
Jisoo instantly looked down to find Jennie's eyes, "but they got separated early at the story!"
"And Sarah Ruth died!" Jennie argued, "but Abilene found him again."
"So you'll find me?"
"I will find you. When things get tough, I will find you."
Jisoo noticed that the yacht was slowing down. Looking through the window, she could see the city lights drawing closer, the colorful blurry lights were separating themselves from one another. Her phone beeped and she faintly heard their friends were raising ruckus.
So it was, her first Valentine's day. It was more than she could ask for, but ironically, even the best day all day with the girl was insufficient. Jisoo took the girl's face in her hands and gently pressed her lips to hers. Jennie sighed a quiet, weak sigh into her mouth and gave in, parting her lips for her. Jisoo ran her hands down her arms and to her waist, then pull her closer and on top of her as she leaned back onto the bed. Jennie's body pressed her down, her mouth subdued her. Jisoo carefully registered in her mind-- the warmth, the shivers and the fire running through her body-- before she finally ended her day and went home alone, having to part ways with the girl.
