Notes: Karen's family finds out about her losing her job and Nikki is starting to prepare to graduate from high school.
It was two months later and Karen was now on bed rest she couldn't wait for these babies to come. But not only that Drew's STI test had came back negative so he was clean and safe to go.
But Karen was also really annoyed with her husband because they hadn't done the deed in a whileeee and now that she was too big she didn't even feel like doing it physically even though mentally she really wanted to. So she was stuck in this position of uncertainty. But not only that her family did find out about her losing her job which they did still support her and tried to encourage her. Karen had wanted to at least try to keep her job for a whole year before losing it.
But Drew told her that God probably had other plans for her because any job that would fire her over not being there for a medical issue that she couldn't control then that wasn't the place for her no way. So, now Karen felt as if she was back at square one with trying to get a new job.
But she was at least glad that she had some work experience underneath her belt even if it was for a short period of time and she was still able to get her last paycheck from that job.
But her being at home meant that she was now able to look after her own babies again with not having to drop them off at daycare or without Gia having to watch over them which she didn't mind doing. But sometimes she just needed a break as well. However, Gia did help out Karen from time-to-time since she was at home alone while Faith was in the studio and Nikki was in school preparing to take her last finals of high school.
Speaking of which Nikki have also been looking at colleges to go to whether it was in the city of Detroit, New York, or in California. But she didn't know how to tell her mom that she was looking for schools out of state to go too and she also didn't know if she was gonna be able to pay for the school after looking at their tuition.
When she was looking at the schools tuition she kept going over her portfolio and working on it like crazy because she knew that her portfolio could get her a scholarship or maybe even a full ride scholarship which could pay for everything.
So now since Nikki was preparing to go to college she was staying even later at school to work on her art portfolio after turning one of them in for a grade so her art teacher could look over it.
But not only that her art teacher had been trying to convince Nikki to do this art contest which could also help pay for college since the first prize winner would receive $50,000 either for cash or for their college that they choose to go too.
But knowing Nikki she wasn't entering in the contest at first and so her art teacher had got Dr.Womack involved in trying to convince her to do the contest since half of her art classes were joining and she already had over 200 students from each of her art periods to sign up and she really wanted Nikki to be apart of the contest.
"Nikki your work is good enough to win first place." Her art teacher said going over her portfolio because Nikki was really her star student. "Ehhhh I don't really think I'd be good at it." Nikki said tilting her head after working on her latest art project and her art teacher had eyed her thinking of way to get Nikki to join.
"You know if any student joins and wins it's an extra 30 points to their final grade." Her art teacher said.
"I already have a 105 in here." Nikki said looking at her knowing that she does all the extra credit that she could get and Nikki knew that she didn't really need the 30 points and her teacher was trying to convince her to go.
"It's for a grade." Her art teacher said as she kept looking through her portfolio.
"And how much is that worth?!" Nikki asked her seeing that she really never failed anything in her class before and this was for her final grade. Then her teacher knew that she was doing the math in her head.
So her teacher smirked thinking that she had Nikki.
"Fine I'll join. But not because I want too. I only care about the grade and maybe the money." Nikki said as she slick tried to hide rolling her eyes at her teacher.
"Good." She said. "Because we still have a few months left to prepare for the art contest so you're not too far behind." Her art teacher smiled clasping her hands together getting what she wanted.
"And it's gonna be a family affair so you could start inviting them as well because we need to know many people are coming in advanced in order to get the refreshments and what not together. So, let me know who's coming a couple of weeks before the art contest because even though we're gonna be having it in the school's gym.
"I don't knowww my family got too much going on and my mom stays getting pregnant. She's pregnant right now." Nikki said making her eyes go wide because she knew who her mama was now.
"The doctors put her on bed rest and I don't know about the others it'd be too much." Nikki said knowing that if she had to invite one then she had to invite all of em' and she was like there was too many of them.
"That would be a lot of tickets I would need." Nikki said. "And?" The teacher said shrugging her arms. "We be having plenty of tickets." She said knowing that sometimes the tickets were also for the raffle prizes.
"You should invite them they'll be glad they went." Her art teacher said.
"Well I know that some of the facility is going and Dr.Womack will be there." She said knowing that Nikki looks at Dr.Womack as a mentor. "That's still too much." Nikki said being shy about her work.
Because even though Karen seen a glimpse of her daughters work before she never really showed her mother any of it or none of her family members.
For instance, Dorinda knew she drew and had an artistic ability but she never really seen it because Nikki never was open about her work like Faith was when it came to music. So, in a way Nikki had more of her mothers personality and Faith had more of her aunties personality.
So after school was over and Nikki had finished staying over for the day she brought home her art portfolio seeing that Drew and Karen did make an art room for her surprising her with it since her and Faith had been getting along more.
Now here the family was at dinner table sitting at the table while Karen was feeding J.Drew and Drew was feeding Kierra baby food. Meanwhile, J.Drew kept grabbing at his mama's hand that she was feeding him with because apparently she was taking too long for her to hurry up.
"I know you not rushin' me to feed you." Karen playfully said as J.Drew kept pulling at his mama's hand trying to get her to rush to get the food to his mouth. "I'm goin' as fast as I can J.Drew but you have to swallow first." She told him but then he started fussin' with her because he still had food in his mouth just being messy as babies are and Karen had to clean him up.
"Drew do you hear your son?!" Karen said arching her eyebrow at J.Drew because he was still fussin' with her.
"He probably fussin' you out in baby language." Faith said laughing after she had swallowed her food.
"Now Karen you know he's greedy." Drew said to his wife as he was feeding Kierra all calmly and Ki had looked at J.Drew and J.Drew had looked at her with his hand still on his mama's hand and he tilted his head at his daddy with attitude as if he understood what he just said about him.
"Ooop." Karen said pulling the spoon back from him a little.
"J.Drew yo daddy didn't mean that here come eat yo food." Karen said feeding her baby before J.Drew started fussing and whining at him too.
While they were finishing up feeding the twins Karen had asked if anything had happened today and Nikki shook her head no eating her food like her teacher didn't tell her to tell her family about the contest.
"Same old same old." Nikki said as she was finishing up with her plate and then, Faith started talking.
"I'm just waiting for the release date of my album is all." Faith said being bored because she wanted to go on tour so bad.
"So you finished it?!" Karen asked her daughter knowing that sometimes even though an album could be in the process of having a release date sometimes an artist would try to go back and record one more song if it hadn't gone through the mastering process yet.
"Yeah it's done I'm not tryin' to record anymore songs for this album it was already hard enough trying to pick the best ones for it." Faith said seeing how they was trying to make the setlist for it but she was taking forever and almost missed the deadlines to send it into the label.
"I almost missed the deadline for it but I got it in though." Faith smiled proud of herself being proud of herself. But not only that since Karen was now out of a job Faith was thinking about asking her mama to sing with her again now that they were on good terms rather than the first time where Faith had got beaten up in the studio. But she knew she was gonna need help with it and she knew just who to go too.
