Serah POV
The soft mouvements of water pleasing my serenity, the gentle back and forth calming my sanity.
The sun was trying to find a way through my eyelashes while coloring my eyelid bright red.
The long fingers massaging my scalp but they somehow managed to uproot a few of my hair.
"Ouch!"
I yelped but I kept my position to not disturb the peace built by my environment.
However, someone deemed me, undeserving of my stable state and preferred to see me suffer.
I could bet, a handful of my hair were still tangled in their fingers, and because I knew the person, they would never try to find a gentle way to spare me the pain.
"Jess, it's nice enough of you but I'd rather grow old with gray hair than end up bald."
The she wolf turned a blind eye to my comment and decided to free her hands from my head.
I gulped the coming moan of despair, clasped my eyelashes together and waited for the storm to pass.
And then my head hit the concrete hard soil.
This was enough.
"Jess, come on, you were the one who suggested a relaxing afternoon noon, and here you are, twisting my neck in all kinds of ways."
I sat back on my ass, letting my hand go through the curtain formed by my strands to reach the nape of my neck. I soothed the area drawing circles where the ache was prominent.
"Serah, I can't do it anymore, it's been two hours that my fingers haven't had a break, and moreover, you haven't moved for like forever, and I'm sure blood stopped circulating in my lower half one hour ago."
From her point of view it did make sense, but you shouldn't hurt someone else because of your own pain.
I stood with my jello legs and stretched my whole body, my arms tried to reach for the vibrant sky and my toes were enduring my entire weight.
God, she was right, I didn't move for a whole two hours.
An indiscreet yawn crossed over my lips, and my hand was too slow to conceal it.
"I assume you liked the self care program I prepared?"
The girl was retrieving the few towels we spread on the low cut grass, Theo would have loved the view.
I should tell him.
'Your mate is in a bikini, moving carelessly, leaving nothing to my imagination.'
I sent the email. We'll see if it reached its destination.
The leaves surrounded the part where we made our cute installation. I moved through them to pick up any products that we might have left behind.
However, the girl was quick to get everything in order, leaving behind only the clothes we were to wear.
"Why is Theo ordering me to put on some clothes right away?"
Oh, it worked.
Her perplexed features clashed with my smiling face, it was then that she understood. She got faster and faster every time.
"I just projected to him how good you looked."
She giggled nevertheless.
"So I should understand that the training is going well."
My lips contracted together with bitterness.
A week ago, the Alpha of Sharp Wolf let the bomb out in front of the whole alliance, I was the one from the prophecy.
A human, with almost nothing of lycan blood but powers that could surpass one, I was nothing but danger for all species.
The council will hold an official meeting regarding my case and meanwhile, the Luna of Red Crescent finally showed me the pages she had purposely hidden from my sight.
I empathised with mom but she still had to grovel to get my total forgiveness because she could have at least helped me control what was going on inside of me instead of letting me face it alone.
Whatever, the final decision made was that I needed to control the basic option this body entrusted me with. Like mind-linking.
They asked Kamil, but the man needed a break and he was back at being a full time dad and a husband.
I wouldn't blame him, he gave so much to everyone this last month.
But it would leave me with options I didn't really like, like Theo and Jay. To my surprise, the alpha family offered to help so did Jess but it worked once every two full moons.
Ice Moon's blood and my mate's were the most effective for now.
However, I should be glad that Jay's schedule was packed full so we didn't have to face each other. Yet.
"You could say that but I still didn't get to work with your brother."
She struggled to put herself in her jeans but she still responded a bit confused.
"What? Why?"
"He said he was busy."
I put my arms into the oversized Tee and reached for the joggings.
But her scoffing cut me off.
"Him busy, he played a full game with Theo, two nights ago and I could have bet that some of the work is taken care of by my father."
I was fully dressed and a tad bit perplexed.
The guy would find any reason to bug and to impose his presence. Now that he had one, he was postponing our training.
"Weird, it's not like him."
My answer was slow, still trying to discover what could possibly go in his head.
"Yeah, hella weird. He didn't even mention you once either."
Clearly, something was off. But I should symply celebrate this new found freedom.
"Anyway, let's go, I have a meeting with him in half an hour and seeing how packed his schedule is, we should hurry."
I sassed before we went for a run.
Jess was holding most of the stuff and here I was with my almost empty bag on my back.
She didn't want to shift as I quoted her "I don't like how I look when my coat is wet."
Childish right? But her dear prince was waiting to fetch her so she'd rather look like a wet human.
...
After some exercise, we managed to reach the sports hall.
My breathing was awfully steady and I didn't even break a sweat. The same goes for the tall girl. It was one thing I could be grateful for, what a great lineage I was from.
My eyes were on her but hers were lost in the distance, while her cheeks slowly went red.
I was no fool, my brother in law was the only one to tame her wild expressions.
Talking about the wolf, he came rushing enveloping his dear in a warm embrace.
I tried not to cringe as I should be used to their PDA. Hence my eyes went to the running group, a dozen of them were sprinting, competing against each other.
The loud clap was the signal, it resonated on the whole interior.
But soon, my instinct kicked in and my attention automatically went to the combat instructor. He was using a boy as tall as him as an example, his right arm pressured the brunette opposite shoulder and he violently yanked his wrist with his free hand.
The fall overtook, the noise the sprinter made but none budged as they were dead focus.
"Serah, I'm going, I need a shower."
My baby girl scurried away without forgetting the chast kiss on her mate's cheek.
A smile was slowly drawn on my face before some annoying sound captured my attention.
"It would have been nice to give context before sending your psychic messages."
I blinked twice and now remembered what he was talking about.
"Oh come on, I had to share, she was really hot, too bad you missed it."
My smile faded with his growing smirk, it wasn't the reaction I awaited. He came closer to talk into my ear.
"Good for you, she's mostly naked for me while moaning all kinds of swears and my name, so I won't be jealous."
Dear, it was details, I would have preferred to never come across. I was about to turn away with my face featuring disgust but he held my shoulder in place as he slightly chuckled.
"Anyway, Jay is waiting for you over there, teaching some hand to hand combat techniques."
I nodded before following that awfully distracting smell.
My focus went back to the section he was teaching. He was no longer the main character, he walked through every two-person team and only interrupting when he was not satisfied with their posture.
Not once had he looked over at my coming figure, and there was no way he didn't feel it. Through the bond I was receiving pleasurable shivers and I knew enough to distinguish them from my own emotions.
I didn't care, he could fake it, it was none of my problem.
The class slowly lost their attention on their partners and one by one bowed down until everyone noticed my presence.
The last one to lay their eyes on me was evidently my mate.
He gestured for them to continue and he closed the gasp slowly.
My hands were crossed over my stomach, not quite open for any discussion.
Hence, I walked away, cuing him to follow me outside. I could hear his step rushing behind and also his voice.
"Hi to you too, Serah. You don't need to walk this fast."
I turned around suddenly, almost having his body bumping into mine. The smell was overbearing our chest too close but it wasn't enough either. Before my thoughts went awry and the bond betrayed me, I took control over these unwanted reactions.
"Let's get over it, I don't want to overstep with your businessman schedule."
The dripping sarcasm didn't go unnoticed. But he didn't try to dwell on the subject.
We walked out, the fresh air filling my lungs and brushing away all the clouds from my head.
"Let's go somewhere tranquil."
I added.
"Maybe up there, the forest is quite dense right ahead and not a lot of people go through it."
He took the lead and I calmly followed his long steps. I did struggle. His stupid legs are going to kill me.
And he laughed.
"You just need to ask if you need to go slower."
"Did you hear that?"
I asked confused, mostly I could project my voice but letting people in was another story.
He moved his head, gesturing a no.
"No no, but Volker heard it."
Volker, I would forever feel bad for him. He was genuine and adorable like a little puppy begging for attention but his host wasn't half of him.
Now that I think about it, Volker always sensed what I wanted before I even knew it. He might be the one that could actually help me.
"Jay, do you think you can let Volker take over for a while?"
He paused to face me. His eyes went through a silent battle, his light blue switch fast through all the shades. He struggled to let his voice sound human, Volker was excited that I could feel it in my bones.
"Are you sure? I wouldn't have any control over him, he is way too hysterical over your request."
I contemplated the vast green forest for an answer but I wanted to try anyway, and it wasn't like I couldn't handle him.
I nodded.
His eyelids fell heavily and he exhaled to calm his state of being.
"Sure, if that's what you need. But I need your consent, I will not hold any responsibility for whatever he does."
I acquiesced but somehow, his worry dissipated, overtook by my own.
...
Thanks for keeping up.
The story will somehow start to accelerate from no on so make sure to follow!!
