Flashback (half n hour ago)
The twins had decided not to enter through the gates that have mist on the other side. It was too much of a risk to go through that maze and not end up lost or worse caught. They continued to surveil the estate and luckily after a few minutes, they found a small gate from which servants were going in and out. There was only one plump guard near the entrance and even he was dozing off on a chair. This gate was used by the servants to go back to the village.
Except for the guard who barely had the strength of a chunin, the others were all civilians. Some servants were smoking and even drinking at some distance from the gate as they leaned on the walls surrounding the estate.
"Daichi this is from where we can go in." the impatient Daiki said.
Daichi thought for a few seconds and said "Daiki this looks too simple to be true. Why haven't they secured this gate properly?"
Daiki nudged his brother and said "Stop overthinking and take the easy win. This gate is on the backside of the estate and the only ones using it are civilians. Why would the higher-ups care about something like this." Daichi nodded but he was still hesitating. In the end, he agreed as he knew that they didn't have much time to save their sensei.
They waited for a few seconds in the bushes and found two drunkards sitting in a corner in the servant's clothes. Those two seem to be almost blackout drunk as they were trying to stand up but couldn't.
Daiki and Diachi sneaked near them and knocked them unconscious using a blunt item. They didn't want to kill anyone from the Terumi estate and become an enemy. They dragged the unconscious servants into the woods and took their clothes.
After dressing properly and changing their appearance to look different from each other, they walked toward the gate. They kept talking to each other about normal topics so as to not appear too quiet in front of the other servants or the guard. They saw that the guard didn't pay any attention to them and let them pass by easily through the gate.
As they entered inside they saw a few roads in front of them leading in many directions. The shortest one led to a building that had a plague with a kitchen written on it.
"Should we go here? We can mix in with them and then go to the main mansion with the pretense of serving food." Daiki asked his brother.
Daichi shook his head and said "I don't think the people of the main family will let villagers cook their food and bring it from another building. And even if they do, we don't know when they will order food to be brought. We don't have the luxury of time."
Daiki agreed with his brother's hypothesis and both brothers selected another route which went toward the middle of the estate. As they were walking they did pass by some other guards who paid no heed to them. They were all shinobis so they wouldn't care about the civilian servants who roam through the estate.
"The security inside is too lax. These people are really overconfident with their security." Daiki said as he looked around.
Daichi gave his brother a look and said "Our village was just invaded a few weeks ago" He meant that the hidden leaf wasn't in any position to lecture others on border security. They had just faced a big invasion and it had occurred in the middle of the village.
As they were talking a group of shinobis was coming from the opposite direction. Daichi didn't even look at them and continued walking but Daiki glanced at them and he noticed the man standing in the middle of the group.
It was none other than the Terumi Patriarch and his daughter's most trusted man AO. Seeing him startled Daiki and AO noticed it quickly. He was sensitive to even small fluctuations of chakra and a startled shinobi's chakra would leak out of its body for a second. Daichi tried to get his brother's attention but he saw AO and Daiki staring at each other. As there was a black eyepatch on the Byakugan, the veins were the only way to tell whether AO has activated his Byakugan or not.
AO even stopped walking which confused the ones walking alongside him. AO looked at Daiki and asked in a stern voice "Who are you?"
"DAIKI RUN" Daichi shouted and threw a kunai aiming at AO's Byakugan. AO easily dodged the attack by moving to the side but this distracted him and the other shinobis from the twins. This gave the twins enough time to escape in different directions
"Go find them...we have spies in our midst." AO commanded and the shinobis around him quickly left to find the twins.
'I didn't expect things to get this bad so quickly. Out of all the people we could run into why did it have to be that guy? I don't even know where to go...I need to find a place to hide soon.' Daichi thought. He and the other spies had tried many times to get a map of the inside of the Terumi estate but the guards proved to be quite tight-lipped about it so basically now the twins were just roaming in blind.
Daichi who was busy thinking felt that the visibility he had was becoming less. He understood that the shinobis must have activated some kind of formation to confuse and trap the enemy and he was right because within 5 seconds he saw a sword coming towards his torso.
'They aren't trying to kill me instantly but want to injure me badly so that they can interrogate me. I need to locate this guy physically before he informs others about my location.' Daichi thought He spewed fire on all sides to get rid of the mist and for a few seconds, it did work and Daichi was able to physically spot the shinobi. Daichi was about to lunge at the mist shinobi but then he heard a shout
STOP
