I knocked on the door to the danky motel room, waiting for an answer. They knew I was coming so I was hoping I wouldn't have a gun pointed to my head this time. Long story short, I'm a huntress. A huntress/Babysitter that is. John winchester needed someone to help him with his two boys. He needed someone he could trust. Me.
I had known John ever since he became a hunter. I was the one who picked him up off his feet when he was an emotional wreck after Mary died. I helped him get his life back on track, and I helped him raise Dean and Sam, who were like my own kids now, even though I knew I'd never replace their mom, I wanted to be there for them.
The door opened a crack, and I had holy water splashed on my face. I scrunched up my nose. "Really Dean?" I asked, and wiped it off. Next, a silver rod poked my arm, and again, had no effect. "Dean. Come on," I said, giving him my best bitchface. Dean smiled sheepishly, and let me in, giving me a hug. "Hey Y/N," He said.
I chuckled, and hugged the twelve year old back, ruffling his hair, while seven year old Sammy popped up from behind the couch and rushed over, hugging my leg. "Y/N!" He cheered, and I smiled, hugging him as well. "Hey Sammy kinz," I chuckled. "Did yer daddy leave already?" I asked, looking around.
"He just left. He told us you'd be here any minute though," Dean informed me, and I nodded. "Sweet. So watcha wanna do?" I asked, plopping onto the couch with Sam still on my lap. "Dean pursed his lips together. "Oh! Can we go to the car show? Please please please Y/N? Dad said there was gonna be an automobile show today and tomorrow!"
I laughed. "Of course you'd wanna go see your precious cars huh?" I teased. "Dean can show me too!" Sam chimed in, his high pitched voice making me grin. "Alright, lemme just call yer daddy and make sure it's ok," I said, and pulled out my large black phone, dialing John's number. He picked up before it even had a chance to ring.
"Y/N? Is everything ok? Are you guys ok? Should I come back?" He spoke quickly. I chuckled. "John, we're fine you dork. Dean just asked if we could go to the auto show and I wanted to make sure it was ok with you," I said calmly. John sighed. "Uh...I dunno Y/N.." He mumbled. "Oh Come on Johnny boy! It'll be fun! I'll take good care of them,"
There was a pause. "I know you will Y/N..Alright sure, just make sure you're back before dark," He said. "Great. See you later alligator," I grinned, and John gave a small rare chuckle. "After a while Crocodile," He said, and we hung up. "Sorry boys," I mumbled, feigning sadness. The two brothers looking up at me with sad eyes.
"Gotcha! He said yes!" I laughed, and hugged them both. "Ahh! Let go!" Sammy giggled, and Dean laughed also, as I finally free'd them. "Alright come on. Dean yer gonna have to tell me where this thing is," I spoke, as I made sure my weapons where in my pockets, and that the boys couldn't see them.
"It's only a few blocks away! I saw it on the way here! Let's gooo!" Dean exclaimed eagerly. I chuckled, and nodded to him. He grinned and grabbed Sam's hand, dragging him out of the motel room. I followed quickly, and locked the door, watching them bicker about which car was the coolest. Of course Dean would say the 67' Chevy Impala.
When we arrived at the auto show, there where tons of people. I was slightly on edge, because I wasn't too fond of crowds. Anything could happen right under someone's nose in a large crowd. I kept my eyes glued to Sam and Dean at all times, holding both their hands, as we weaved through the people, and managed to catch sight of all the cars parked in the big lot.
The three of us spent a good hour, testing the seats of the cars, talking with people about the engines, and much to Sam's amusement, honk the horns. "Are you two getting hungry?" I asked, seeing it was around lunch time. "Yea," They both spoke at the same time. I opened my mouth to speak, but a man walked over.
"Hello miss. I couldn't help but notice you and your kids admiring this beautiful Mustang here," He spoke, and patted the hood of the red car. I was going to correct him, and tell him they weren't my children, but when he smiled, I noticed two pointy teeth poke out of his gums. "blood sucker," I whispered.
I immediately pulled Sam and Dean behind me. "RUN," I yelled to the boys. They instantly took off in the other direction, and I spun around, grabbing my dagger, chopping the vampire's head off before he could move. That was when several other Vamps appeared, and hissed, running at me. I turned, and bolted after the boys, who I still had in my sights.
By this point, everyone at the auto show began to scream, and run, while the Vampire's began slaughtering them. I caught up to the boys, and grabbed them, jumping sideways just as a vampire lunged. "Give us the kids, and we'll let you and everyone else here go," one of them growled, stepping closer.
My eyes hardened, and I held Sam and Dean close, my breathing fast. "Over my dead body," I snarled. "That can be arranged," The vamp laughed maliciously, causing both Sam and Dean to whimper in fear. I shoved them behind me, and the vamp jumped at me, knocking us both to the ground.
"MOM!" I heard Sammy yell. My eyes widened. He called me mom...He called me mom...That right there gave me adrenaline to shove the creature off me, and cut it's head off. A scream caught my attention, and I felt my stomach drop. Dean was shielding a sobbing Sam from two blood suckers, who were advancing towards them.
I growled, and rushed forward, pouncing on one, and cutting it's head off, while throwing the dagger, and hitting the other in the neck. I came towards it, and yanked out my dagger, watching it's head roll off.
I rushed back to the boys, and checked them for injuries. "Are you ok?!" I asked frantically. They both nodded, and hugged me tightly. Out of the corner of my eye I saw another vamp rush forward. Instantly, I shielded the kids, and gasped, feeling a knife pierce my abdomen. Sam and Dean screamed, as the vampire smirked. "I'll be taking them now," He hissed, but I managed to grab my dagger, and with all my strength, cut it's head off.
"MOM!!" Sam and Dean cried, as I collapsed to the ground, the knife protruding from my abdomen. "It's o-ok boys..I'll be...ok," I wheezed, trying not to scare them any more than they already where. "No! Don't die! We already lost out first mom we can't loose our second one!" Dean sobbed. I felt my heart sink.
"M' not gonna die D-dean," I stuttered, leaning my back against a pole. That was when I heard a familiar voice. "Y/N! DEAN! SAM!" The boys either didn't hear their father calling, or didn't care, since they kept their attention on me. "J-John! O-over here!" I called out weakly. A flash of leather and black hair swooped over from behind a corner, and there he stood, panting.
He sighed in relief, and hugged the boys, who hugged him back, sobbing hysterically. "Thank god you're all ok...I was on my way back...When I saw t-this!...I knew you where at the show...I-I was so scared," He stuttered...Wow...I'd never heard him sound this freaked out before...Wait til he see's the condition I'm actually in.
"Dad! Mom's not ok!" Sam whimpered, and once again, either John didn't notice the fact his son called me mom...Or he didn't care. "What?" He asked immediately. "S-she's hurt!" Dean added, looking over at me, tears streaming down his cheeks. John's head snapped to me, and when he saw the scene in front of him, I could see the color drain from his face.
"N-no..." He breathed, quickly rushing forward, followed by the boys, who came by my side. "Y/N?!" He asked frantically, taking my face in his hands. That was when I realized I barely had the energy to speak. Much less move. I blinked at him, my breathing coming in fast spurts, the pain only seeming to get more intense.
I swear I could see tears gather in John's eyes as he frantically pressed his hands to my abdomen in an attempt to stop the bleeding. I made a small gurgling sound of pain, and coughed. A small whimper escaped the back of John's throat. So small I almost didn't catch it. "Shh..It's ok...You're gonna be ok," He whispered, scooping me up, and beckoning the boys to follow while he loaded us all in the car.
"Dean, take off your coat, and hold it against your mother's wound. Make sure the bleeding stops," John instructed, and I felt my energy surge at the fact he addressed me as their mom. "J-john," I managed to splutter, and his head swiveled around to me. "Hey, hey baby it's gonna be ok...You hear? You're gonna be alright," He cooed, a tear dripping down his cheek, much to my surprise.
Nonetheless I gave a weak smile. "So I-I'm y-your baby n-now?" I teased lightly, as he began to drive. "Yes. You've always been my baby and you always will be. I love you and I'm not about to loose you," He said in all seriousness. My eyes widened, and I looked over at Dean, who was watching me closely, Sam's head peeking from over Dean's shoulder. "M-mom?" Sam stuttered. I gave him a smile, and took his small hand in mine. "It's o-ok Sammy...Mama's gonna be ok," I whispered, taking Dean's free hand as well.
A few hours later, I was resting in a hospital bed, twenty three stitches in my lowed abdomen. The doctor had just left to get John and the boys, who he informed me where very impatient. In a matter of seconds, my three boys came crashing into the room, eyes wide. I giggled softly. "Relax you three. S'gonna take a helluva lot more than a stab wound to get rid of me," I spoke.
John gave out a big sigh of relief, and the boys rushed over, giving me gentle hugs, and sniffling. I hugged them back, and kissed the tops of their heads. "It's ok," I murmured, as John stepped forward. Before I could process what was happening, his lips where on top of mine, and his hand was cupping my cheek.
I felt butterfly's swarm my stomach. "I meant what I said Y/N. I love you," John whispered. "And I love you John. Always have," I spoke back. Sam and Dean made disgusted faces and backed away. "Ew!" They cried, scrunching their noses. I chuckled, and smiled at John, knowing I was home.
