Kenma froze as the room fell silent, or at least he couldn't hear anything, almost as if the earth had stopped spinning. A trailer for his game began to play on the giant screen, and his heart started pounding like it was trying to escape from his chest... Suddenly he felt a feeling he had never felt... A feeling he never wanted to feel. He felt like he was about to drop.
He had been prepared to win the young developers award... But this... This was much bigger. He took a deep breath and felt a hand wrap around his arm before suddenly finding himself pulled out the doors and outside into some fresh air.
He buried his face into Kuroo's chest as he ran a hand through his hair and released some calming pheromones.
"Don't worry; I had Akaashi tell them that this caught you off guard and you needed a moment to prepare yourself,"
"Thank you," Kenma mumbled into his Alpha's chest

Kenma could feel himself returning to a more calm state after about ten minutes. Kuroo had managed to find a good quiet place hidden By a high wall and awning. He quietly ran his fingers through his Omega's hair as he rested his head against him.
"Do you feel better?" He whispered when he noticed Kenma's scent had returned to normal, or at least closer to his normal scent.
Kenma took a breath before pushing himself off Kuroo and straightening his shirt.
"Yeah... I'm sorry," He replied, feeling just a little embarrassed.
"I don't know how I even won something that I wasn't in the running for," He mumbled as he tried to figure out how his game had even qualified for the game of the year. There had only been a hand full of testers, and he knew all of them personally, so it didn't make very much sense to him.
"We should go back now," he added, realizing that the longer they stayed out there, the more difficult it would be for him to gather the will to want to go back.
They walked back inside just as someone else was receiving the award for best character design. Kenma wasn't sure what game the character was from that the person was receiving the award for, but he did quite admire it as he took his seat once more at their table.
"We got you another drink," Akaashi whispered a d pointed to a champagne flute with a bubbly yet creamy-looking beverage inside.
"It's a mock Caramel cocktail," he added as he saw Kenma's perplexed expression.
Kenma picked up the glass and stared at it for a few more seconds before taking a sip as The person who had won the character Design award began to make his speech. He felt strange watching him on The stage, talking about himself, his game, and his inspiration for the design. He thought about his own speech he had prepared and how it was more of a thank you to everyone that had helped him; it felt strange to watch someone not give any appropriation to others. The head speaker of the event popped back on stage after the speech had ended and announced that they were going to take a small thirty-minute break while they continued to get the rest of the ballads pulled. The monitor on the stage played several game trailers again, one of which Kenma had actually become quite excited about.
There was the sound of idle chatter around the room as everyone waited for the event To proceed forward. Mr. Sacra came back onto the stage with Miss Evens behind him, holding a couple of envelopes. She Handed them to Mr. Sacra, who began to open them as he adjusted the microphone.
"Without further delay, it's time to see who wins for best soundtrack," the room fell silent as they waited to hear the winner. Time stood still as Mr. Sacra took his time pulling the paper from the envelope. Kenma had a feeling that he knew which soundtrack would be winning, and if he was correct, it was going to be the game he played nightly on stream with a few people online.
"Guilty Town Mew Strike,"
He was right, the room. Burst into applause as the Main theme song began to play, and cat characters dressed in gang, Sofia, and ninja attire appeared on the screen, followed by gasps and shocked whispers. It wasn't much of a surprise to anyone that its soundtrack had won; the shock was caused when a small girl, maybe the age of eight, and a boy, a bit older, walked up onto the stage to accept the award with a man, presumably their father.
"Wow, we won!" the boy's voice was enthusiastic as the girl stood beside him shyly.
"Thank you, everyone! My sister and I are really happy that the music we created for our father's game was able to add even more amazement to an already amazing game!" Their father gave a small wave and a smile to the crowd as he held his daughter's hand and walked them off the stage.
Mr. Sacra took the stage again; Miss Evens stood silently behind him. For some reason, Kenma found himself weirdly fascinated by her, almost the same way Hinata fascinated him in volleyball matches, except this was for a different reason. He couldn't read her. She seemed so mature, poised, and intelligent. He couldn't help but wonder why she would or, rather, what would make her now down and sell the rights to her gaming company. It confused him, granted her, she and her company focused on mobile, and Nintendo Switch augmented reality games, it still seemed strange and made him worry he would befall the same fate.
"Now let's see what lucky young person has won the young game developers award!" Me. Sacra said with enthusiasm handing the folder envelope to Miss Evens, who took his spot in front of the mic. This time she seemed a lite more enthusiastic rather than serious. Kenma watched as she pulled the paper from the envelope; he doubted he would win twice. He relaxed a little in his chair as he waited for Miss Evens to announce the Winner.
"The winner years this year's young developers award is Kozume Kenma; for The Broken Crown,"
Kenma sat there for a moment; he sank further down into his chair before taking a breath and feeling an encouraging squeeze on his thigh from his Alpha. He stood up And began making his way to the stage.
"Congratulations," Miss Evens said as she handed the award to Kenma.
"I look forward to working with you she whispered before stepping back and allowing Kenma to use the microphone. He felt his stomach clench from anxiety as he looked out over the crowded room.
"I-" he froze. He could feel their eyes on him as they waited for him to make an acceptance speech. He took another breath and made eye contact with his table, seeing Hinata giving him a thumbs up.
"Thank you for all the support everyone has given me over this year. The Broken Crown would be here without it," there was more that he wanted to say, but he wasn't able to bring himself to do so. He made his way to his table silently, hearing the whispers from the others along the way.
"Good job, Kitten," Kuroo whispered and reached for his hand.
"Kenma... Are you okay?" Hinata asked as he saw how pale his friend was.
"We should probably go home," Akaashi said quickly as he, too, noticed that Kenma looked like he was about to pass out, have an anxiety attack, or both.
"Why couldn't they have held this online," Kenma mumbled as Kuroo helped guide their group back out to the parking lot.
Once they arrived home, Kenma threw his phone onto his nightstand, choosing to leave it off, knowing that the moment he turned it on, he was going to be bombarded by text.
"I looked like an idiot," he groaned and flopped down onto the bed, burying his head in a pillow.
"No, don't say that," Kuroo sat down beside home and rubbed his back.
"I will pack your duffle bag so you can rest,"
Kenma had almost forgotten that the next day they were going to be going to the Karasuno pack house with Bokuto and Akasshi.
"Thank you," He said quietly and rolled onto his back. He started up at the ceiling and tried to wrap his head around the events that had taken place.
