Kelly: "Hey" he greets, entering the bathroom where Matt stands in front of a mirror "I just got a text from my guy down at the dock. Looks like those hinges you ordered finally came in. Should keep us on schedule."
Matt: "Great."
Kelly: "Hey, how you feeling?"
Matt: "I can honestly say this is the first day I've felt 100%."
Kelly: "Glad to hear it." he nods, watching him walk out the room with a look of concern on his face
•
Katie: "Hey."
Ryan: "Hey. What are you doing here?"
Katie: "I was hoping I could talk to you for a second? I need some advice."
Ryan: "Oh, God. What did Otis do?" she sighs
Katie: "It's not that."
Ryan: "Good. That's good. I'd hate to have to attend his funeral so young in his life" she nods, making Katie chuckle "What's going on?"
Katie: "So my boss is opening a new restaurant in New York. And he wanted me to go help set it up."
Ryan: "Ooh, nice."
Katie: "Permanently."
Ryan: "Permanently?" she nods, eyes widening in shock "Wow. That, uh, that sounds like a great opportunity."
Katie: "It is. Yeah, it is. It's just...like, you and I are working on this sister-sister thing and-and Kelly too and I just started seeing Brian who is incredible to me and...if I want this...am I being Benny?" she questions, making Ryan give her a soft look
Ryan: "Katie, wha...no. No! Hey, Benny abandoned every single version of his family because he was a coward. This...this is the opportunity of a lifetime for you. And I'm so proud."
Katie: "Yeah?"
Ryan: "Yeah, of course. Come here." she chuckles, pulling her into a hug
•
Dawson: "Oh, my God" she groans, entering the room "What is that smell?"
Mouch: "Impending gastric distress."
Cruz: "Ha, ha. Very funny."
Dawson: "Cruz is cooking? Since when?"
Hermann: "Since Mills jumped to Squad, and SC's gone back . We haven't gotten a replacement candidate and so we all drew straws."
Otis: "And we all lost."
Cruz: "Hey! This is authentic Dominican cuisine, all right?" he scoffs, grabbing a spoon for Ryan to try as she enters the room "Just because you can't appreciate the aroma doesn't mean that the taste isn't gonna blow your hair back, huh? Just got to broaden your horizons a little."
Hermann: "Yeah, broaden them all the way to Manny's for a Reuben sandwich."
Cruz: "Ah? Authentic, right?" he nods, watching as she struggles to swallow
Ryan: "Yeah, it's, uh, it's definitely something." she nods, grabbing hold of Otis' drink, downing it
Otis: "Seriously?" he sighs, looking down at his empty glass
Ryan: "Hey. How'd you do on smoke drill today?"
Dawson: "Uh, 740."
Ryan: "You know if you fail the physical test, you can't re-take it till the next round."
Dawson: "I know, I know. I'm working on it" she assures "So, what's up?"
Hermann: "Well...since we're gonna have to be doing some repairs to Molly's, maybe now is the time to make some modifications moving forward."
Otis: "Exactly. It's the perfect time to add a little stage area and get some karaoke action going."
Dawson: "Well, I always thought that Molly's would benefit from, like, a more intimate, upscale vibe, right? Softer lighting, maybe a few tapas on the menu."
Ryan: "Before all of that, the kitchen should be our main priority. You know, we could knock out one of the walls, open the space up more. We'd have a lot more room to work and we'd double the amount of food brought out."
Hermann: "I think we're getting ahead of ourselves here."
Dawson: "Why can't we mix things up a little bit?"
Otis: "What's the point of changing anything then?"
Ryan: "We're already doing renovations. Why not just get it all done at once."
Hermann: "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Whoa. Where are our manners? We've got a fourth partner now. What do you think, Shay?"
Shay: "Thank God." she breathes, perking up when the alarm goes off
PA: "Truck 81..."
Dawson: "Hey, you guys mind if I ride along?"
Shay: "Of course not."
PA: "Single car accident. Vermont and 127th street."
•
Boden: "That's gonna come down. Everyone watch working underneath." he warns, looking up at a broken electric pole
Kelly: "Ah, he's pinned in. Pop the window." he motions to Ryan
Matt: "Otis, get that crowd back."
Otis: "Ladies and gentlemen, let's move back. Come on. Clear the area so the men can work."
Ryan: "Pulse is strong."
Kelly: "Mills, grab the jaws."
Mills: "Yeah."
Boden: "Everyone, get clear!" he calls out, watching as the pole releases sparks before falling down, landing on the car which knocks the lights out and a fire begins
Ryan: "Oof!" she groans, leaning her head away from the man's face as she pulls him out the car
Kelly: "What?"
Ryan: "Guy's hammered."
Matt: "The grid's out, Chief."
Boden: "Yeah. And this weather, people without power are people without heat."
Matt: "Not to mention the wolves come out when the lights are off."
Boden: "Yeah. Stick with me. Can I have your attention, please? At this point, we have no way of knowing how long it will take to get the electricity back on. So anybody who needs a safe place to ride out this blackout, you're more than welcome to come join us at Firehouse 51. We have our own generator, and we can provide hot food, a warm place to stay, and safety. Thank you."
•
Boden: "Generator's fine. Something wrong with the furnace." he sighs, tapping on the thermostat
Matt: "When it switched from regular power, it might have shorted. We'll take a look."
Boden: "Okay."
Matt: "Hey, do you know where I left my toolbox?" he questions, making Kelly laugh before seeing the serious look on his face
Kelly: "Yeah. It's in your locker. It's where you've kept it for the past five years."
Matt: "Right. Right."
•
Reporter: "Our four News chopper was in the air to capture the blackout as it happened. If you look in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, you'll see a small, blue flash."
Mouch: "Look! Look! Look! Look!" he motions towards the TV as they watch the grid turn black
Reporter: "Authorities of Commonwealth Edison said this was likely the cause of the blackout. A spokesperson at ComEd said they don't know how long it will take to restore the power."
Boden: "I expect everybody to pitch in, once again show this neighborhood how important they are to us."
Ryan: "You got it, Chief."
•
Kelly: "Hey, the damn pilot went out, and, every time I relight it, the whole system shuts off."
Matt: "All right. Let me take a look. Hmm. Well, the couple is loose. Hand me a, um...thing."
Kelly: "What? A what?"
Matt: "The...metal thingy. Yeah."
Kelly: "Screwdriver? Wrench?"
Matt: "Crescent wrench. Yeah. Thank you."
Kelly: "You talked to Ryan?"
Matt: "About?"
Kelly: "Your memory problem?"
Matt: "I told you. I'm getting better."
Kelly: "Doesn't look like it from here. You need to talk to someone. If you're uncomfortable with Ryan because you two are together-"
Matt: "No offense, but the last thing I want from you is relationship advice."
Kelly: "I'm not talking about your relationship. I'm talking about your head."
Matt: "There we go" he nods, motioning to the machine that turns on "Yep. Ta-da. Thanks for the help."
•
Katie: "Did someone call in the cavalry?"
Cruz: "Oh. Oh, thank God. I'm about two boatloads shy of not feeding anyone."
Ryan: "In other words he forgot to go shopping so we are basically on the cusp of rationing."
Otis: "Hey, you got my text."
Katie: "Yeah. I came right over. Brought everything in my mom's pantry."
Cruz: "So we're a bit S.O.L. unless your mom had two fish and three loaves of bread."
Katie: "What are those?"
Cruz: "Oh, well that's first watch and third watch, so we can't..." he trails off, looking over at Ryan for permission
Ryan: "Why not." she shrugs
Cruz: "Right. I'll go grab the bolt cutters."
Katie: "Hey, I need to talk to you later."
Otis: "Okay. Everything all right?"
Katie: "Yeah."
Ryan: "All right, Cruz. Let's get all the chips and dip out on the table and people can graze until we get some soup going."
Cruz: "Boom. Boom."
Mouch: "And this is where we keep the pots and pans and big ol' knives and whatnot."
Ryan: "What the hell are you doing?" she mutters, snatching the knife out his hands
Mouch: "Well, the kids are scared. I thought I'd give them the tour and make them feel safer."
Cruz: "Knives?"
Mouch: "I haven't done this in, like, 35 years."
Cruz: "Yeah. Okay. Look, I'll tell you what. Just take them out to the apparatus floor and have them play cornhole until we get everything set up here and then, uh...I have something special for everyone to see, huh?"
Mouch: "Back the way we came. Through those doors. Here we go."
•
Ryan: "Pasta...pasta..."
Clarke: "How we looking?"
Ryan: "We're not. Somebody should really start opening the pallets for first and third. Their food choices are tragic" she sighs, thinking for a moment "Hey. You know Houk's grocery up the road? Old man Houk lives above it."
Clarke: "Okay."
Ryan: "See if he'll open and get as much beef and beans as you can. Oh, and he's not too good at hearing, so keep on knocking until he answers, all right? And if he tries to refuse, just tell him I said he owes me. Especially after all the home cooked meals I bring to him."
Clarke: "Yes, ma'am."
•
Ryan: "There you go. Warm and toasty." she smiles, wrapping a blanket around one of the kids
Matt: "Hey."
Ryan: "Hey."
Matt: "You got any aspirin?"
Ryan: "What? Why? Are you feeling-"
Matt: "It's the headache. People get them all the time."
Ryan: "Right" she breathes "Yeah. Um, I actually do in my purse."
Matt: "Cool." he nods, following her into the locker room
•
Ryan: "You good?" she questions, coming up beside Katie
Katie: "Mmh. Oh, and I hope you don't mind but I found your secret stash in the back of the cabinet."
Ryan: "Oh, don't worry about-"
Man: "Oh!" he groans, gaining everyone's attention as they turn to see a man smash his face into the table
Kelly: "Hey!" he calls out, rushing over to pull the man away, knocking him into the counter
Going to grab him, Kelly stops in his steps when he turns, showing a knife in his hands
Kelly: "Put the knife down, buddy."
Man: "Oh, no, no, no. You stay out of this! You stay the hell out of this. This kid's drunk brother put my niece in a coma!"
Kelly: "Listen, listen. I'll tell you one more time. Put the knife down and get the hell out of here."
Rushing forward he goes to try to slash Kelly but he twists his wrist, punching him in the face. Making him drop the knife, Kelly slams him into the counter, wrestling with him a little. Grabbing hold of him, Kelly drags him out the door, throwing him onto the ground as Boden, Cruz and Otis follow behind
Man: "You. You're a dead man." he warns, stalking off as they watch him for a moment before heading back inside
Ryan: "Hey, you okay?"
Kelly: "Yeah, I'm good. Barely got a scratch in."
Boden: "Um, I apologize for that. Rest assured that we will make sure nothing like that ever happens again" he assures the group of people standing in the doorway, turning back to face the group "You keep your eyes peeled. Anyone acts the least bit aggressive, you do what Kelly just did and you throw their ass out in the snow."
Kelly: "Hey. You all right?"
Katie: "Yeah. I'm just freaked."
•
Clarke: "Mr. Houk. Mr. Houk!" he calls out, knocking on the door "Hey, could you come to the door, please? It's important, Mr. Houk."
Houk: "Power's out. We're closed."
Clarke: "Here, I'm from Firehouse 51. We've got a bajillion people down there and they're all looking for soup. Ryan Casey said you might be able to help us out" he informs, making him sigh as he opens the door "Thank you, sir."
Houk: "That Ryan Casey uses guilt better than any mom I've ever met. I've given her more discounts than I know what to do with. What do you need?"
Clarke: "Sir, we need some, uh, we need some beef and some beans."
Houk: "I got a couple cases of beans you take back there in the storeroom. But you got to get 'em. My back ain't so good no more. And I'll wrap up some of this meat for you."
Clarke: "Thank you, sir."
•
Ryan: "Hey, have you been around Matt today?"
Kelly: "Yeah, why?"
Ryan: "Um, he was complaining about a headache" she informs, noticing the look that comes over his face "Come on, if you know something, you gotta tell me."
Kelly: "He says he's fine, but I'm not so sure. His...memory's off."
Ryan: "But how off cause he's also..." she trails off, looking over at where Genevieve heads their way "Hey. What are you doing here?"
Genevieve: "Need to have a chat with this one." she motions to Kelly
Ryan: "Let me guess he finally knocked you up?" she snickers, nudging him with her elbow, making him shake his head
Genevieve: "Eh. Not even close."
Kelly: "What's up?"
Genevieve: "Where's your Chief?"
•
Genevieve: "It's a madhouse out there. We're calling in every off-duty officer we've got. The looting two blocks from here is out of control."
Boden: "We understand."
Genevieve: "That's actually not why I stopped by. We've got an informant inside the Keeler family. A bunch of bad-egg bruisers that cause mayhem on the South side. Apparently one of your guys went toe-to-toe with Vince Keeler about an hour ago." she informs, showing them a photo of a man
Kelly: "Guilty."
Genevieve: "All right, well, Vince is the worst of the bunch. Twice called up on murder charges, but the cases didn't make. He did a stint in Cook county for assault and battery for breaking a guy's jaw, but that's the only case that ever stuck."
Kelly: "Great."
Genevieve: "I got word from my C.I. that Vince came back huffin' and puffin' that he's gonna kill a fireman tonight."
Kelly: "I'll take my chances." he shrugs
Genevieve: "All the same, I'm gonna keep an officer parked outside."
Boden: "Thank you."
Genevieve: "Absolutely. You all have my number so if anything jumps off just call me. Now, which one's the kid that he went after?"
Boden: "There." he motions to the man sitting outside with Mills
Genevieve: "All right. I'm gonna take him back to the district with me for safety concerns" she nods, looking over at Kelly "Walk me out?"
Kelly: "Yeah, you got it."
Genevieve: "Hey, Tommy. I'm Detective Acosta. I'd like you to come with me. We're going down to the district office, keep you safe tonight."
-
Genevieve: "Listen, don't try to take this guy on again. From what I hear, you humiliated him. He's not gonna forget that, and he's not gonna fight fair, so if you see him again, I want you to call me, or Antonio or any of us. I mean it."
Kelly: "I will."
Genevieve: "All right. Let's go" she motions for Tommy to follow after her "Hey, guys. Just post up here. Make sure nobody shady comes in. Thanks."
•
PA: "Truck 81. Squad 3. Engine 51. Ambulance 61. Battalion 25. People down, unknown causes. 4702 Hellman Street."
•
Ryan: "Uh, where's the call?" she questions, looking around an empty street
Boden: "This is the address."
Woman: "Hey! Hey, we don't know what happened to them." she runs out from behind a house, catching their attention
Man: "We tried knocking on their door. When no one answered, we looked in the window."
Boden: "Dispatch, we have four victims down. Unknown causes. We're gonna need two additional ambulance units at 4702 Hellman."
Kelly: "Carbon monoxide! Almost 800 parts per million here!" he informs as they enter the home, grabbing hold of each member to bring outside "Let's move!"
-
Allison: "Both breathing."
Shay: "How are mom and dad?"
Matt: "They're gone" he sighs "Carbon monoxide readings were off the charts. Kids must have come in and found 'em afterwards."
Allison: "All right. There's nothing we can do about that. Let's get these kids out of the cold into the hospital."
•
Cruz: "Hey, Ry. You mind helping me real quick?"
Ryan: "Sure. What's up?"
-
Mouch: "Is this your card?" he questions, holding out a card to a kid who shakes his head with a yawn "Come on. How is that...he said he'd be here in just a minute."
Cruz: "Okay, kids! It is time for the amazing Joe Cruz and his..." he announces, taking the hat from Ryan who gives him a weird look "Animal friends!" he exclaims, sighing at the unexcited looks on the kids' faces "Well, let's see" he nods, beginning to blow up a balloon "Huh?"
Mouch: "Huh? Huh?"
Cruz: "Just gotta tie off that right there, and I just...oh!" he winces as the balloon pops, making the kids begin laughing "Okay. Tell you what, guys. Ry, maybe you could help me out with this..."
Ryan: "You bet."
Cruz: "You know, you gotta stretch it real good. That's the only way they'll blow."
Ryan: "Just like this? Back here?"
Cruz: "Yeah."
Ryan: "A little further? Like that?" she questions, pulling on one end of the balloon
Cruz: "Mm-hmm. Yeah. That's good" he nods, groaning in pain when she releases the balloon, making it smack the side of his face "Aah! Ugh!" he groans, giving her a hard
Ryan: "What? You wanted to entertain them." she shrugs, motioning to the laughing kids in front of them
•
Kelly: "Casey, grab your tools. Boden wants us to check on the generator."
Matt: "Yeah."
-
Kelly: "Looks good to me. There's plenty of fuel" he shrugs, sputtering the motor a little "What?"
Matt: "My big crescent wrench is missing."
Kelly: "You sure you put it back?"
Matt: "Yes, I'm sure, Severide. I put it right on top where it always is" he groans "Fuel filter's clogged. All right. Fire it up." he calls after a moment
•
Ryan: "Hey. How-"
Shay: "Oh, please for the love of God" she sighs, making Ryan's brows furrow in confusion "Please do not talk to me about you wanting to redo the kitchen at the bar. I cannot take anymore bar talk right now."
Ryan: "Okay. I was just gonna ask how the old lady who had the heart attack was doing."
Shay: "Oh."
Ryan: "Yeah."
Shay: "She's, uh, she's good."
Ryan: "Glad to hear it" she hums "So I take it Hermann, Dawson, and Otis have been grilling you about joining their idea since you're the deciding vote?"
Shay: "Yes!" she groans, sighing in annoyance as Ryan chuckles "I gave Molly's the money from Daryl cause I didn't want his sleezebag of a brother to have it but I wasn't exactly planning on signing up to be a full time partner."
Ryan: "I get it."
Shay: "Hey, why aren't you trying to sell me on your idea?"
Ryan: "Because as soon as I mention to Hermann how a bigger kitchen will bring in more money he'll be onboard for the idea" she shrugs "Plus it helps to have a husband who works in construction that can't help but fall under the spell of my gorgeous eyes." she chuckles, Shay shaking her head with a scoff
•
Matt: "It was a filter clog, Chief. My fault. I should have checked it way back when the weather turned, but I had other stuff going on."
Boden: "Doesn't matter. As long as it's working now."
Matt: "Right."
Genevieve: "Hey, Chief. I just heard from my C.I. that Vince Keeler sent somebody over here to rough up
Kelly." she comes over, showing the group a picture of a man
Boden: "Okay." he nods as the four spread out to begin looking
Checking underneath a blanket, Matt looks across the hall at Kelly who exits the bathroom, shaking his head with a sigh. Looking up at a man who walks past him he looks down at his hand to see his missing wrench clutched in his grip
Matt: "Hey!" he calls out, tackling the man to the ground
Slightly sitting up from his spot on the ground, the man knocks Matt into the hall, hitting his head. Reaching out for the wrench he goes to attack Matt with it but Genevieve rushes over to them, pointing her gun at him
Genevieve: "Drop it! You wanna know what lead going through your skull feels like? Drop the wrench!" she orders, Kelly raising his brows in awe as the man slowly sets the wrench on the ground "Get up!" she nods, kicking the wrench away as Boden and a few officers arrive, pinning the man on the wall "Put your hands on the wall!"
Kelly: "You okay?"
Matt: "Yeah" he groans, holding onto his head in pain "Used up another one of my nine lives."
Kelly: "Pretty sure you're in double-digits, man."
Boden: "You got him?"
Genevieve: "He's not going anywhere, don't worry." she assures, grabbing hold of his handcuffed wrists to pull him down the hall
Ryan: "Hey" she breathes, rushing over to Matt "You okay?"
Matt: "Yeah. Yeah, I'm good." he nods as she sighs, lightly grabbing hold of his neck to check the back of his head
Mouch: "The grid's back on."
Boden: "My God. What a night. Okay. Let's help these people out of here. Get 'em back to their homes."
Genevieve: "I want you to come down to the district until we can snatch up Keeler."
Kelly: "What's that gonna do?"
Genevieve: "We've got ways of letting people know when to back off."
Boden: "Yeah." he nods, exchanging a look with Kelly
Genevieve: "All right. You all right?"
Matt: "Yeah. Yeah."
Boden: "Hey. Yours."
Matt: "Thank you." he breathes, taking the wrench from him as Ryan helps him walk down the halls
Boden: "You okay?"
Matt: "Yeah."
•
Matt: "If I have to tell you I'm fine one more time, it's not gonna be fine."
Ryan: "Look, Kelly...he told me that you've been forgetting things."
Matt: "I have a pounding headache. I could barely remember my own name. What else do you want?"
Ryan: "I just want..." she sighs "I want you to be honest with me. I mean, I know I have no ground to stand on when it comes to telling the truth about something health wise but..."
Matt: "Listen, if something serious is going on. You'll be the first person I tell." he assures, pressing a kiss to her head
Hermann: "Hey, Ryan! Come here for a sec?"
Matt: "See you at home."
Ryan: "Eh! No. You are not driving. Wait for me."
Matt: "Yes, ma'am." he salutes, heading to the car
Ryan: "Yeah."
Hermann: "All right. Listen. We were just going over a plan to do the whole-"
Otis: "Hey. Hey. What plan?"
Hermann: "Nothing. So, we talked, and-"
Otis: "No. No. We talked and Shay's on board."
Dawson: "On board with what? Your bad idea to have karaoke night?"
Otis: "Hey." he breathes, giving her an offended look
Shay: "Guys-" she sighs, looking over at Ryan who gives her an amused look
Hermann: "That's not any dumber than your idea to turn it into some hoity-toity hipster bar."
Dawson: "Okay, let's see how Herrmann's plan of the status quo's gotten us. A crowd of dead-beats and jack-ups."
Shay: "Guys, guys, guys."
Otis: "Serious-"
Shay: "Look, I do have a vote here, okay? And no one's bothered to ask what my plan is, so I have two words for you...lesbian night." she suggests, the group standing in silence for a moment before shrugging
Otis: "All right."
•
Katie: "Hey, Brian. Where are you? I thought you said 7:00. Oh, oh, no, no, no. I'm...I'm sure you're right. Okay. I'll talk to you soon. Bye." she smiles, hanging up
Stopping in her steps to put her away, Katie turns to see Vince and a man hurry towards her. Placing a bag over her head they cover her mouth as she flails around, placing her in a van that pulls up before speeding off
