It was Monday on the second week of the exam period. Taehyung queued to get coffee from the vending machine. His mind was musing on a business idea; selling good coffee during the exam period would be profitable, he could set up a table in front of the library and...
"Excuse me, are you getting the coffee?"
A small impatient voice from behind interrupted his daydream. He realized it was now his turn to use the machine.
"I'm sorry..." he turned around, bowing his head to apologize. I was..." He stopped when he realised who was the girl behind him.
It was displeased Irene waited in line, standing with her arms crossed, her little foot tapping the floor. It was funny actually, Taehyung thought, Irene was small. An annoyed shortie doll like her wouldn't intimidate anyone; if any, frowning was only making her adorable.
In a respectful way, of course, Taehyung revised his thoughts. She was a student president, after all. An intimidating shortie, yes, that what she was.
Like Napoleon. Except this was a girl. A Napoleonia.
"Taehyung?" instead of just one, now both of Irene's eyebrows raised; her annoyance was replaced by a slight surprised.
"Irene noona... I am sorry," he put some coins and took a plastic glass, "What are you getting? Can I buy you a coffee?"
"Latte, no sugar. Thank you." her eyes creased from a genuine smile, "Studying for the exam?"
"Yeah... Are you?"
"Mhm.." she chuckled, it was crispy and ticklish, exactly like when they were in Jeju, "I still have two days of exam coming, how about you?"
Taehyung handed her the latte, "Two exams for tomorrow," he smirked.
"Wow, good luck." She sipped her coffee, "Ouch, it's burning."
"Careful," Taehyung spontaneously took the coffee from her. He blew and stirred it with the wooden stick, trying to cool it down a little. When he felt it was safe enough to drink, he handed it back to Irene.
"Here you go. It's still hot, but it won't burn."
Irene took it and she was just staring at the cup for a moment before she finally said, "I should probably get back inside."
Her tone was unsure, Taehyung couldn't help thinking he overdid the coffee. It was now probably lukewarm and the shitty coffee now tasted even shittier.
Taehyung nodded, Irene gave a slight smile before went back inside the library.
