I was lying all this time and thankfully, my real friends backed me up with my plans.
The truth is, I really don't have a disease because I'm as fit as a fiddle, thanks to my mom's genes.
flashback to 2 months before Jiyong and Aster's break up
"Are you sure?" And my manager nodded at me. I bit my thumb as I looked out at the view of the conference room window.
"No wonder they look so suspicious around me." I scoffed as I sat back in my chair and I gestured at my manager to sit down.
"Who gave you the information?"
"A trainee said that she saw Jennie walking out of his house a few nights ago." I clicked my tongue and leaned towards the table.
"Call her. I want to have a talk." He nodded then went out to get the trainee. I whipped out my phone from my bag and called Joshua.
"What did Tristan found?" He asked as soon as he picked up.
"It's true." I folded my legs and turned back at the view. I sipped the chamomile tea from my table as I listened to Joshua.
"Aster, I'm sorry." He sighed.
"It's fine, boo. I kind of expected it but I wasn't expecting someone so close to me. We are about to get married."
"What do you want to do now? I'll help you whatever it is." I bit the inside of my cheek and replied back.
"Of course, I'll break up with him then make him regret going against me."
"That's my bestie! Hey, I'm free and I'm actually going there right now and I have your favorite food." I smiled and said that I will wait for him. I ended the call and finished my tea. As I was about to go to the bathroom, someone entered the room, someone I did not want to see at the moment.
"Hey, baby." He walked towards me and gave me a kiss on my cheek. When he met my eyes, I gave him a fake smile.
"Are you okay?" He asked as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
"I'm fine. You, how are you?" I asked him, not making it obvious that I knew he is cheating on me.
"I just missed my fiance. Wanna go eat outside? I'll take you to your favorite restaurant." He peppered my face and my neck with kisses. I put my hands on his chest and softly pushed him away.
"Sorry, I'm meeting with a friend. Next time?" I picked up my phone and messaged Joshua if he's near and walked out of the room without waiting for Jiyong's reply.
I walked to the lobby and saw Joshua sitting on one of the sofas. In the corner of my eye, I saw Jennie walking to the elevator. Fine, meet him. He's all yours now.
"I saw her." I smirked and picked up the box of chicken he placed on the table.
"Let's eat at my house." He nodded and we both walked to my car.
"Did you call the others?"
"You bet I did. Do you have a plan already?" I nodded as I looked straight at the road.
"Poor Mr. J. He lost his Harley." He twirled my hair and I laughed.
When we reached my house, there were some cars parked outside. My real loyal friends are here.
"We're here!" The others cheered as they welcomed Joshua and me into the room. The 3 BLACKPINK members are here, my sister Ryujin, my dance squad, Wonho, Hyungwon, Changkyun, Mingyu, Jun, Taeyang, Hyorin, CL, Sandara, Seunghyun, Kai, Sehun, Jin, RM, Jackson, Nayeon, Chaeyoung, Mina, and all of Red Velvet.
"You started the party without us?" I looked at the open wine cabinet and the pizza laid out on the kitchen island.
"You took so long." Jin whined as he drinks his coke.
"Guess who we saw before coming here." Joshua said. Everyone leaned towards him.
"Her. Jineul was with Jiyong before they met. So for sure, they're meeting up."
"They don't know what's coming for him!" Lisa shouted and we all laughed. We continued the party, catching up with each other's lives and forgetting what happened.
"Hey, Jineul. What are you gonna do now?" Kai asked and they all looked at me. I sat down by the kitchen island and folded my hands in front of me.
"Though they both hurt me, I would not harm their career. I would keep this information just between my real friends."
"Gosh, you're too kind, Aster! Expose them!" Taeyang exclaimed and I looked at him with wide eyes.
"He gave you fake hope and love. You should get revenge!" Jisoo said and I turned to her.
"No, no, no. I learned from my mother and what she said is to never do revenge even though you got hurt very badly. I know I'm better than that. I'll just fake my good relationship with them until I forget everything and find that peace in me that would help me forgive them." Everyone looked at me sympathetically and I scoffed.
"Ok, do not pity me. I'm truly fine. But I do want to hurt him a bit." Everyone clapped and they all tuned in to what I have to say.
flashback to aster's hospital visit
I opened one of my eyes to see if there is anyone in the room and I sat up. It has been 2 days since I've been 'admitted' for 'fainting'.
Just as I was about to call Rose, my phone rang.
"Do you have psychic powers or something?" I laughed and I heard her giggle.
"Good morning, unnie! I just want to let you know that she isn't here right now. She just left a couple of minutes ago and said that she's eating with a friend." I nodded and I asked her how are they doing in rehearsals.
"OK, make sure to get your rest." I said my goodbyes and hung up.
flashback to aster's flight to the us
"We'll miss you, unnie! Come back soon!" Jennie hugged me and I looked down at her and smirked towards the members, my manager, and Hoseok.
"I will try to come back early." I gave her a fake smile and I walked to my boarding gate. I turned back to them and waved goodbye. I walked for a few more steps just so she could be convinced that I'm really leaving. I peeked from a wall and saw them walking back to their cars except for Hoseok who met me in the bathroom. I gave him a hug and he took my luggage and went to a different exit.
Of course, I'm not leaving.
present time
"The news is out. Now everyone knows why you two broke up." I swirled the liquor in my glass and took a sip. I placed the glass on the table beside my office window and sat back in my chair and closed my eyes.
"And it would not be my fault if they have problems in their career because, for one, I wasn't the one who exposed them. My only problem is how would I release new music without making fans think that I'm dissing them." I touched the rim of the glass and looked at Tristan.
"How about the sub-unit?"
"Of course, that one is automatically out of the line. I'll never work with a traitor." I picked up my glass and Tristan and I walked out of my office. As we were walking around, Tristan would fill me in with the job we need to finish and some trainees would bow towards us.
We were nearing the conference room when we met Jennie. I looked at her and took a sip from my drink without breaking eye contact. She was about to approach me when I turned to the door to my right and thankfully, it's the conference room. I smirked at her and went inside.
"Shall we start?"
