felix stared at the poster that had been lazily pinned to the large cork-board hanging in the fitness hallway. it was stacked with many other documents of the sort and yet this bright red and crisp yellow sheet of paper had been the one to draw him in.
an opportunity. a chance. one felix would like to take. one chan and his mother, and most certainly jisung, would encourage him to take.
then what could have been holding him back?
two boys waltzed out of primary gymnasium in a sagging dance of fatigue, glistening with sweat dripping from their bodies that mr. min most likely tirelessly worked them into producing. they had chatted loudly about the football season to come when one of the pair halted upon spotting the sign felix was entranced by and spoke the unheard of.
"yo bin, wanna join the school's musical?"
silence in the hall, a lone dust cloud could have rolled through and it's bounces as it hit the ground would have sounded like thunderous stomps in the deafening stillness that stretched on as the blond scratched the back of his neck nervously.
"what the fuck? you're joking, right?"
" . . no? i'm not? look, i don't know about you but i'm gonna try out. who knows, maybe i'll get in."
'of course you'll get in, you're hwang hyunjin,' felix thought as his gaze remained fixed on the audition invitation. the long haired blond would be accepted even if he sounded like a dying anatidae because he was the school's prince. a royal among everyday persons that received superior treatment despite worthiness.
auditions began the next week and they would have to check the school website for expectations, rules, and reserving a spot.
"trust me, you will." at this the hallway came alive again, now more vibrant than before as students chattered and gasped about the news of hwang hyunjin auditioning for the school's musical.
and yet all this lee felix ignored as he had let his guard down and turned to regard the boys who incited the crowd's excitement only to be surprised by them looking right back at him. and the long haired blond—
'wait, did he just wink?'

jisung set down his laptop and picked up his discarded tea that had quickly become cold, the chill of mid-november seeping into the han's apartment and prompting the members of the household to find ways to stay warm. minho seemed to have had the most trouble, curled up on the bed wearing the fuzziest of pyjamas and hogging all the blankets. he was cocooned with sua, the melon cat plushie that belonged to soomin who was named the day they all visited felix, changbin, and younjin.
the ravenette was zoned into what his laptop displayed, completing his work for that monday evening. a common sight in jisung, and practically minho's as well, bedroom, often accompanied with soomin draped over the hibernating ravenette blanket burrito. normally the three cat's would also be cuddled up to the trio but it was a day in which they stayed at minho's house and his house help took care of them.
jisung smiled at the two and snuck a quick picture before facing his laptop again. the blue haired had just finished the missing chapter of his novel and was ready to send it, and all the others after, to his awaiting friends. excitement fluttered in his stomach as he anticipated their reactions to the turn of events in the plot. seungmin would most likely yell at him like always but felix was likely to cry over the phone until the line cut. jisung picked up his phone to tell the two he was sending them the novel's chapters they were yet to read when someone called him. the blue haired's phone rang, alerting the other two laying on the bed, and he noted that the caller was felix.
'how coincidental,' jisung thought and he recalled the last time such had happened he answered the phone to a sobbing seungmin. tentatively swiping to answer the call jisung mouthed a 'felix' to the two ravenettes eyeing him curiously and held the phone to his ear as they nodded in understanding.
"hello? sungie?" the freckled ginger's voice cracked on the second word, sounding hoarse as if he had been crying.
"don't tell me you're pregnant again."
"what? no, of course not. who do you take us for? i just birthed a child not even a week ago sung."
"well that's good, then what's wrong?"
a shaky breath was heard over the phone and jisung's heart stacattoed in fear, worrying for what felix would say next.
"someone just crashed their car into the studio."

caution tape was strung around the building like christmas lights, decorating the destruction in a mocking way. broken glass and large to itty-bitty bits of wall littered the ground and pedestrians gathered around to gape at the damage done to the dance studio on levanter road.
police men scattered the area and backed people away from the scene, ensuring no one wandered too close and jisung couldn't believe his eyes. no matter how many times he blinked the broken glass and debris didn't disappear, nor did the gaping hole in the wall mend itself back together. it was devastating to see how felix's darling studio had been marred so horribly.
in his arms was a weeping hyunjin, overwhelmed by the situation and seeking some form of comfort in the woeful moment. after felix called jisung and asked that the blue haired go to the studio in his place, as he was unable to with youngjin, jisung hastily agreed, him and minho dropping soomin with seungmin hyunsuk where they picked up hyunjin and drove to the site of the accident.
a drunken collision it had been, a woman way past her limit had veered right into the building, recieving just as much damage as the studio now housed. she had been rushed to the hospital in critical condition, barely recognizable in the gore of the event. an officer had filled the trio in on the happenings prior to the accident and left the three men feeling more despindent than before. minho patted the blond's shoulder as he clung to jisung, desperately latched onto the blue haired's warm embrace.
"hey, it'll be okay. the case'll have to be taken up in court but i'm sure the lady will pay for most of the damages since it was her fault." minho spoke as hyunjin slowly calmed down, breaths evening out.
the blond laughed bitterly. "yeah, after she's out of the hospital which will be who-knows-when, and even then it'll take months to fix everything. all that time we'll basically be jobless since we can't work in the studio."
minho frowned. "i'm sure we'll think of something. i think there's a couple job openings for receptionists and such at my office you could fill in for the time being. and felix is technically still on maturity leave."
"thanks, but that doesn't help all the others who work at the studio. you don't happen to have ten other receptionist jobs, do you?" minho shook his head and hyunjin smiled sadly. "so i suppose we'll all have to go job hunting. and we'll have to keep in mind the rest of the damage debt since i doubt the woman'll pay for more than half of it."
"i'm so sorry about this hyunjin, if there's anything we can do to help please let us know. i can help minho look for more jobs in his company for everyone or other part time roles, maybe even find a good lawyer too." jisung spoke carefully as he rubbed hyunjin's back comfortingly, not knowing what to do.
"thanks jisung, we'd really appreciate it. everything's getting really stressful with paying for seungmin's hospital bills and check ups and all and we were just about ready to take hyunsuk to speech therapy but it seems like we'll have to post-pone that." the blond sighed and untangled himself from jisung's embrace. "thank you both for your care, we'll make sure to contact you if anything but for now i think we should all call it a day. we can worry more about this tomorrow."
the trio called felix in the car, updating him on what they were told by the police officer earlier. he too agreed that the studio's staff would most likely need to find a second job but he would continue to stay at home. the freckled ginger insisted that he deal with finding a lawyer and the legalities and such of the situation since he didn't need to worry about employment and he was the literal owner of the studio. after ending that call the trio called seungmin who told them that hyunsuk and soomin had fallen asleep and they decided the children would have an impromptu sleepover and drove to the han's apartment to pick up essentials for soomin before heading to the seungjin household.
seungmin greeted them with sad smiles and hot chocolate and they chatted lightly over the warm beverages. seungmin had draped himself over hyunjin, wrapping himself in the blond's limbs as if to tie their bodies together. his stomach bulged greatly and jisung couldn't help but stare at it with slight confusion.
"uh, minnie?"
"yeah?" the brunette sipped his drink, his other outstretched hand mindlessly twirling strands of hyunjin's hair
"how many months has it been?" seungmin furrowed his brows in confusion and jisung gestured to the younger's belly, whose eyes widened in understanding.
"oh, four and a half i believe, why do you ask?"
"are you still working?" answering a question with a question caused the brunette's brows to furrow once more.
"uh, no. today was my last day before my leave actually."
"i see . ." jisung drew out his words and everyone looked at him with varying expressions of concern. "are you sure you're just having one baby?"
what the blue haired did not expect was for seungmin to laugh and hyunjin to smile bashfully at his question. "nope. that's funny because our first ultrasound was just today as well and we're having twins!"
hot chocolate spurted out of jisung's nose and minho patted the younger's shoulder comfortingly as he wriggled and grimaced in pain. "you're having twins?!"
"surprise!"
"oh my goodness, congratulations! that's so exciting. good luck, i'm sure they'll be a handful."
"yeah, hopefully you'll get two more angels instead of double trouble." minho added and the group laughed.
"honestly, we'll probably get a couple rascals. if the first child is peaceful the next are always so chaotic." hyunjin smiled as he rubbed over seungmin's belly and the brunette sighed in content.
"yeah, but i'm sure hyunsuk'll keep them in check. he'll have so much fun being a big brother. i bet soomin would love to be a big sister too."
"seungmin!!"
