A few seconds passed, which for Jungkook was like long and agonizing minutes, until Yoongi spoke.

"Sit with me."

He had said it in a barely audible whisper, but Jungkook had heard it clearly because of the silence that surrounded them and the closeness of both of them. He felt a bit stupid for not having noticed that little detail, and he knew what it had cost Yoongi to ask for something like that, because he was one of those who always put the needs of others before his own, he did not want to be a burden to others. Others or worry them.

Yoongi pulled away from him, but he was still holding on to Jungkook's shirt, almost as if he feared that the boy would regret his decision and decide to leave. Once he sat on the bed, Jungkook bent down to remove his shoes. Yoongi was about to protest and remind him he was not a small child and that he could very well take off his own shoes, but then he realized that he was still clinging to him like a child clinging to his mother, so he saved silence and let Jungkook get on with his business.

"Now that I think about it," Jungkook commented as he finished removing his shoes, "lying on the bed is much better than sitting, don't you think hyung?"

And that's how Yoongi ended up lying on his side on the bed, Jungkook in front of him at a respectful distance, but that Yoongi wanted to eliminate somehow. He may look tough and uncaring on the outside, but he also liked hugs and displays of affection, even if these were rare. The fact is that he never asked others for this kind of thing, but that was of no importance to his friends, who when they felt quite daring showered him with affection; just a couple of very brief hugs, because that physical contact thing was Jimin and Taehyung's thing, and Yoongi was still intimidating.

The current dilemma was that, for the first time in a long time, Yoongi felt the need for someone to hug him, he was tempted to reach out to shorten the few inches that were taking him away from Jungkook and pull him closer. But he had to resist that urge, because the boy had already carried enough of his problems, and probably the least he wanted was to have his hyung hug him like a stuffed animal. But as much as his mind had decided that he wouldn't do anything about it, his body still resonated with that energy of wanting to do something, so if his hands didn't stop moving it was understandable. He also looked at Jungkook from time to time, to be more precise his silhouette, because even if some clarity came in from the other buildings, it wasn't enough to make out any of his features; It was unnecessary either, since Yoongi had spent enough time with the boy to know the exact location of each of the moles that adorned his face.

Yoongi wanted to have him closer, but he did not know how to ask something like that of a boy who, as much as he was his soul mate, had put aside what he was doing to come running from the moment he knew he needed it, as if he had not nothing more important than him. And that caused his insides to churn and melt, as if he didn't know whether to be happy about what that implied.

"There was a time when I had nightmares every day." Jungkook spoke in a slightly shaky whisper, and Yoongi realized in that moment that he was not the only one who was affected by the situation.

"It usually happened at dawn and they were so real that when I woke up, I didn't know if I was still dreaming or not."

Yoongi nodded his head. He knew very well what the boy was talking about.

"And even though I didn't make any noise or woke up screaming, within minutes I had my mother in my room."

Even being in the dark, Yoongi could feel that Jungkook was smiling at the memory. "She said nothing to me, she just smiled at me and sat with me on the bed. I remember that she always knew when she needed to calm me down, even though I said nothing to her. Sometimes she would hug me or stroke my hair until I fell asleep again, and other times she would croon. No matter what I did, it always made me forget about my nightmares. "

"Mothers have a sixth sense," Yoongi said in the same tone Jungkook had been using, causing the boy to chuckle, Yoongi mimicking him seconds later.

"I thought it was that too, but when I asked her, she told me that her gem had told him what to do."

"Her gem?" Yoongi asked, confused.

"Yes. She told me that every time I had one of those nightmares, she would wake up immediately as if someone was shaking her. The first time it happened, she thought it was my father." Jungkook said with a laugh.

"Then she told me it was as if her gem had reacted to my fear, as if I had let her know what I needed to calm me down. She said it was as if something rumbled inside her and spread throughout her body, and then she felt what he had to do to calm me down as if it were instinct."

"I didn't know that gems could do that." Yoongi commented sincerely. In fact, until recently I only knew that they helped you find your soul mate.

"I don't know if it's something all gems can do. I guess it depends on the person and the connection you have with them. But they can do incredible things."

"Mine saved my life." Yoongi said as he unconsciously took the gem in his hands. "If it weren't for it, those... people (shadows), they could have done worse to me than trash the apartment."

The silence that followed his confession was not an uncomfortable one. It was a silence in which both were assimilating the information that each one had revealed. Yoongi was curious to know if Jungkook also felt the same as he was feeling, if he had to restrain himself not to touch him, if he felt that the atmosphere in the room was full of anticipation to see what the next step was for one of them to take. Jungkook was still on his side of the bed, but it was as if he was moving, more like his body wanted to move on its own. And seeing that the boy was in the same situation as Yoongi, made him gather enough courage to speak.

"I am feeling it too now. I feel like my gem is trying to tell me something." He was feeling a bit frustrated at having to beat around the bush instead of doing what his body was asking him to do, but Jungkook's reaction, who had moved his head a little closer, as if Yoongi was telling him a secret, was worth the sorrow.

"I've been feeling it too for a while." Yoongi couldn't see him, but he sensed that Jungkook was biting his lip. It could be because he was nervous, or because he didn't know how to express what he was feeling.

"What now? Is your gem giving you any pointers?" Yoongi asked when he saw that the boy said nothing else.

Jungkook took a deep breath before answering. "It says to let me hold you until you forget all your problems."

Although he could not see him in the darkness, Yoongi could not help the smile that took over his face.

"It seems your gem knows what to do." Yoongi replied simply, his lips still smiling, to which Jungkook responded by sitting up a bit as if he didn't believe what he had just heard.

Despite the surprise, Jungkook reacted quickly, and immediately went over to him to wrap him in a hug as Yoongi snuggled against his chest, his hands clutching Jungkook's shirt and his face buried in his neck, where Jungkook's own scent was mixed with that of flowers.

The light coming in through the window was dimming, as many had gone to sleep rather than stay awake and wait for the light to return. But Yoongi was no longer worried about being surrounded by darkness, as he had Jungkook hugging him against his chest, stroking his back with slow and repetitive movements, and the somewhat warm and constant breathing that left him drowsy. Before entering the dream world, Yoongi thought that if all the hugs with Jungkook were this good, it wouldn't be a problem to get used to them.
