"We'll make sure that happens," Hana said with a smile that soon faded when she saw movement in the distance. "It's time, guys, to your posts."

"What time is it?"

"The same as fifteen minutes ago, Jimin."

"How can you be so calm?" Said the boy as he dropped into the grass.

That morning, after saying goodbye to Jungkook, the boys set out on the journey that would take them to the magnificent tree. Hundreds of people were already gathered around it, wanting to show their support to those who were going to fight to protect the tree. There were still some people who did not believe they were really in danger, but most had understood the seriousness of the problem and wanted to join the movement even if distance prevented them. There were many people, almost the same number that gathered for music festivals, and yet there was still the base of the tree to be covered. That's how big it was.

"We're trying to occupy our mind with something else," Jin said while reading a book.

"He who waits, despairs, Jimin."

Jimin let out a long breath. "I know, but I can't help it. Two hours have passed, and the protections they're wearing are supposed to have expired."

"They may have a meeting point to renew those protections. Or they may not have suffered as much damage, and the protections lasted a little longer."

Moments later, Yoonseul and Hoseok arrived. The girl had insisted on bringing all her equipment to record everything, and all those artefacts did not fit in Jin's car, much less if the rest were inside. So Hoseok, who had not yet met the girl in person, offered to help her transport everything in his van, which he used when he went on a trip. The two of them scrambled to the top of bags and briefcases, sweat slipping down their skin as they tried to fill their lungs with oxygen.

"Looks like you've been hiking or something. You're a mess." Taehyung commented as he helped them put things down and put them in a place that they wouldn't disturb.

"Yeah, well, we had a minor mishap when it came to placing things," Hoseok explained as he scratched his head, his cheeks turning red.

Yoonseul was in the same state, her red cheeks a stark contrast to her white skin. The girl couldn't seem to look in Hoseok's direction.

"Nothing serious happened, right?" Jimin asked with a frown, puzzled at the behaviour of his two friends.

"Not at all!" They were quick to deny the two at once, turning even redder after their gazes met.

"Yoonie," Jimin drawled. Now he was certain that something had really happened between them, but he preferred to let it be.

"Where is Hyung?" Hoseok asked, referring to Yoongi and effectively changing the course of the conversation.

"Oh, he's right there at the foot of the tree." Namjoon pointed to the place where Yoongi was sitting, with his eyes closed and his back leaning against the trunk. "He has been there since we arrived. He said it made him feel closer to Jungkook."

The boys nodded as they watched Yoongi, who surprised them by opening his eyes suddenly as he put his hand to his chest. The boys did not hesitate to put down what they had in their hands to run to him. Being close, the panic was clear in Yoongi's eyes, who clung to his gem as if his life depended on it. At his side was a guide - one of many - who had stayed behind as possible reinforcement in case it was necessary.

"Hey boy, are you okay?"

"Hyung, what's wrong with you?" Namjoon asked, concerned. His long legs had allowed him to get there before the others.

"It's Jungkook, he ... Namjoon, he's in danger, he needs help," Yoongi said desperately.

"Can you feel it?" Asked the guide.

"Of course I can. He's my soul mate. We're connected."

The guide seemed surprised at this, and he let Yoongi know. "The crust is acting as a kind of shield right now. In theory, it should be impossible for your gems to communicate."

"Well, the theory is failing," Jin said as he looked at Yoongi's state of concern.

Jimin was trying to reassure him, but he wasn't having any results. His instincts told him that Jungkook was in serious danger, that he had to help him, but Yoongi didn't know what to do when the bark of the tree separated them. He didn't want to say it out loud for fear that it would come true, but he could feel how much Jungkook's gem was trying to keep him alive. He wanted to cry and scream because it seemed that fate had given him a bit of happiness and then snatched it from him. It was not fair.

Min Yoongi, do what I tell you and everything will be fine.
