Chapter 18

"What did really happen?"Jaxon asked as we strode around the park, for no reason. I left my brother at Jaxon's house with Chris. He said Chris will look after him and play video games with him.

"I don't know.. I..I don't really know,"I said and he chuckled lowly.

"What do you mean, you don't know?"he asked but I just shrugged. He then grabbed my arm and turned me to face him before he hugged him. I gaped for a moment as I was left aback at his movements.

But then I found myself hugging back. I could feel him smile and so did I. I could feel butterflies in my stomach erupt.

How can I even stop these when I know that he's my mate?

"You can tell me anything.. I'm always here for you, you know,"he said and my smile grew bigger. I slightly nodded before I pulled away from his hug.

"Jaxon, I may not know you that much but I know something in you is really great,"I said.

I didn't know where those words came from. It just naturally slid out of my mouth.

He looked me straight in the eyes before smiling. I began to raise an eyebrow at him as he gave me a smirk afterwards.

"What?"I asked.

"Never knew this side of you,"he said and I rolled my eyes before snorting.

"Let's eat ice cream,"he said and I just nodded as a response.

"You wait here,"he said and I sat on a bench as I looked around.

I sighed as I felt the wind kiss my cheek. It was silent but my wolf senses heightened as a minute passed.

Something's wrong. Or something wrong is going to happen.

I frowned as I smelled something familiar but awfully bad around. I mind linked Jaxon.

Hey love, I don't know what's really on in this place right now, but I guess I should follow you there?

Wait.. I did call him love, right? Oh well, it's not as if it's something to be hidden.

"You fine?"I heard Jaxon's voice behind me. He didn't respond in the mind link but instead he came. So, he did have a gentleman side. He sat beside me as he held two ice creams on his hands and handing me the other one.

"I didn't know what your favorite flavor is so I just chose cookies 'n' cream,"he said and smirked. I just sighed.

"Are you upset?"he asked but I shook my head as I looked at him.

"No, no. I just feel that something's wrong,"I said and he was silent for a moment. He's probably using his wolf senses to check if something was really wrong.

"Nothing is wrong. Totally fine and perfect,"he said and smiled.

Is he sure about that? Or did he just say that so I won't be worried at all?

"Okay,"t'was all I said.

We savored the silent and peaceful moment but I knew something bad was up. I wanted to not think about it but it keeps on bugging me. I heaved a silent sigh as I kept licking on my ice cream.

This should end perfectly.
