“Girl power is about loving yourself and having confidence and strength from within, so even if you’re not wearing a sexy outfit, you feel sexy.”
-Nicole Scherzinger

Being born as a girl is a blessing. But, it is disheartening that even in the 21st Century, we have this mindset that girls are weak. It is disheartening that girls are being treated inferiorly just because they are girls.

International Day of Girl Child is observed on the 11th of October every year to create awareness against such unfair discrimination and inequality. It is observed to encourage girls from all over the world to emerge as successful individuals by surpassing various shortcomings such as limitation of proper access to education, access to proper basic needs and fundamental rights.

The idea of observing International Day of Girl Child was formally proposed by Canada in the United Nations General Assembly and on 19th December 2011, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution to adopt October 11, 2012 as the inaugural International Day of Girl Child and there has been no looking back since. Several countries conduct various
events to promote the idea behind the observance of the International Day of Girl Child.

This International Day of Girl Child let us all pledge to be better humans and support as many girls as we can.

Say no to discrimination!
Let’s all live in harmony!

And to all the girls out there - Jeeti raho! Jeet thi raho!
