A healthy heart is key to a healthy life

Do you know Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is the reason for the most number of death? With the main reasons being smoking, drinking, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity. Thus on 29th, every year, WHO celebrates World Heart Day to create awareness and help people towards a healthy lifestyle.

World Heart Federation came together with WHO works to decrease the number of people dying from CVD every year. Studies show that in 2000 nearly 17 million people around the world died because of CVD. While some say, CVD is common only in the more developed parts but there is proof of around 70-80% people dying whose lifestyle was primitive compared to others.

Information about World Heart day are sent to public via all mediums, be it podcasts, newspapers or social media. So, today on this informative day, on behalf of IL I’d love to share some key points to a healthy lifestyle.

Eat Healthy
Take your focus away from packed foods to healthy organic. While it is not a new thing that
home cooked food is the best for your health, be sure to include protein-rich things like egg, chicken or if you a vegetarian then lentils, soya etc. Choose your oil wisely and limit the use till you can. Include dairy products. Eat healthy, live healthy!

Stress Management
Our lifestyle is such that we can not help but be stressed about things. I understand, it is
important to feel the weight of work but only to a limit. Try to stay calm and positive in every situation. Take time, think wisely and do the action. Taking unnecessary tension will only
result in high blood pressure and headaches.

Physical Exercise
In your busy schedule, try to take time for yourself. Be it yoga, or gyming, or just running or walking, whatever suits you. But do something! Do not procrastinate or be lazy about your
own health. Take care of your body and it will take care of you.

Proper Sleep
Many a times we forget the importance of proper sleep. A good peaceful sleep is important
for both physical and mental health. Try to at least sleep for 6-7 hours of sleep. A night peacefully slept ensure a good energetic day. So, you see everything is interconnected and
suddenly insomniac me is feeling attacked. Anyway, sleep well guys. It is really important.

Last but not the least, go for regular checkups. Health is not a matter that should be taken
lightly.
