Always (Draco x Reader)

4 (chapter 4)

"Oh shut up" I say. He laughs at me and I turn serious. He looks at me confused as my smile falls. "We need to talk about the other night" His eyes look away and then back at me.

"Astronomy Tower, tonight at 9. Don't be late" He says and then leaves. I go back to the common room and George and Fred pick me up on their shoulders.

"Y/N! We knew you could do it" Fred says. I look down at them both and roll my eyes.

"Thought you might have lost an arm though" George teases. I laugh and hit his head lightly.

"Thanks boys, mind putting me down?" I ask when I see Harry walk in. He walks over to me with his golden egg.

"Hey" He says awkwardly.

"Hey, you did pretty well I heard?" I say pointing at his egg. He shrugs and shuffles from foot to foot.

"Yeah I kinda broke the castle a bit but..." He drifts off. It would be him that had to make things harder for himself.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you" I say. He looks up at me and shakes his head.

"No you had a right too. I'm sorry for shutting you out" He says holding his pinky finger out like how he did when we were kids. I laugh. "Forgiven?"

"Forgiven" I say joining our fingers and then hugging him.

"What's the clue?" People ask us. We both give each other a look and hold out eggs up.

"Who wants us to open it?" Harry asks.

"Yes!" The common room shouts and we both open them to hear a screeching sound. I close it quickly and rub my ears.

"What the bloody hell was that?" Ron awks walking in. The room goes quiet and we turn to look at him.

"All right, everyone! Go back to your knitting. This is gonna be uncomfortable enough without all you nosy sods listening in" George says ushering people away from the three of us.

"l reckon you have to be barking mad to put your own names in the Goblet of Fire" He says awkwardly.

"Caught on, have you?" I say sarcastically.

"Took you long enough" Harry adds and then nods at Ron.

"l wasn't the only one who thought you'd both done it" Ron says. I sigh and look around. "Everyone was saying it behind your back"

"Brilliant. That makes me feel loads better" Harry says.

"Well that's nice of them" I say laughing. Ron just shrugs uncomfortably.

"Least i warned you about the dragons" He says to Harry and I look at him confused.

"Hagrid warned me about the dragons" Harey states.

"No, no, no, l did. No, don't you remember? l told Hermione to tell you that Seamus told me that Parvati told Dean that Hagrid was looking for you. Seamus never actually told me anything, so it was really me all along. l thought we'd be all right, you know after you'd figured that out" Ron says. My brain feels fried just listening to that.

"Who?" Harry says. "Who could possibly figure that out?"

"That's completely mental" I tell him. He does his little half smile.

"Yeah. lsn't it? l suppose l was a bit distraught" Ron says. I look over at Hermione and she looks just as confused as me.

"Boys" She says.

"Actually come to think of it. Who warned you?" Harry asks me and my eyes widen.

"Uh...I overheard it?" I say and they all give me a look like they don't believe me. "Okay fine, It was Malfoy. He overheard someone talking about it" I'm not going to tell them about the kiss yet cause I know what Harry and Ron are like.

"Malfoy told you!?" Ron exclaims. I nod and bite my lip slowly.

"Yeah" I say carefully. Harry looks quite angry but tries to put a mask over it. Ron and Hermione just look shocked.

"That's weird" Harry says and I sigh. For once I agree, Malfoy is being weird and he has been since last year. I need to find out why and I need to find out why he kissed me. Maybe it was a heat of the moment kind of thing.

"Weird doesn't even begin to cover it" I say. I go upstairs and shower and change into some grey tracksuit bottoms with a white crop top. While Hermione is in the shower I sneak out quickly. I make my way up to the astronomy tower. Draco has his back to me and he looks really handsome.

"Hey" I say quietly. He turns around and looks up and down at me.

"Wow you're actually early for once" He says smiling as if he thought I wasn't going to come.

"Yeah had to sneak out while Hermione was showering" I say and walk over to the railing with him. "And I'm not always late"

"You are, in fact you're always late to Potions" He says. I roll my eyes.

"I happen to think 9am is too early to wake up" I state and grimace at the thought of waking up.

"Why doesn't that surprise me?" He says. I nudge him playfully. I look up at the sky and smile at the starts.

"It's beautiful, how comes I've never been up here?" I say. I notice him watching me and then smirk looking away.

"Cause you're not amazing like me" He says. I wonder when his head will stop growing.

"There's that ego again. I'll have you know I beat a dragon today" I say smugly. He rolls his eyes and chuckles quietly.

"Don't let it give you a big head" He says. It goes quiet and I turn to him. I guess he's not going to tell me unless I ask.

"Why did you kiss me Draco?" I ask. He turns to me and looks down. He looks incredibly nervous but the moonlight highlights all his best features.

"Because...because when I look at you all I can think is that I want you to be mine. Because you're the girl I've been crushing on since 1st year. You're beautiful and funny. You drive me nuts because you're the only person who can bite back when I tease you. No one makes me feel more alive then you" He says. The way he talks about me makes me melt. That's why I grab the back of his neck and pull him down to my lips. They meet for the second time and I feel relaxed. They move together slowly. We pull away and he looks up at me. "Why'd you do that?" I smile at him brightly.

"Because you noticed me instead of my brother and because when you kissed me I felt the same. You are a right prat at times and you make me so angry but you also make me feel safe. And I guess I've had a crush on you for a while too. I was just too scared to admit it" I say. He looks shocked but has a small relieved smile.

"You mean that?" He asks. I smile wider and lace our fingers together.

"I do" I say. He breathes out the breath he was holding. "I don't know what any of this means but I was hoping we could figure it out together?" He smiles and pulls me over to look at the stars again. His hands wrap around my waist and it feels like a puzzle piece going back together.

"Well would you like to accompany me to the Yule Ball?" He smiles. My stomach erupts in butterflies and I'm really glad he asked me. I nod slowly.

"Yeah I'd like that" I say. He kisses me again sweetly and we go back downstairs. He takes me to the entrance of my common room. Our hands unlink and as I turn around he calls out to me.

"Oh and Y/N?" He says. I turn back to him.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"I'm sorry for being a prat" He says and walks away. I smile and then go up to bed.
