Ch#29 Rainbows and Cupcakes

"ALANA!!", I woke up from my deep slumber to the screaming of my name.

"Beth, for Pete's sake! Get away from my ear!" I tried to push her away and tucked my head under my pillow. I wasn't done sleeping. But before I could go back to my dream land again, she pulled the pillow away from me.

Ugh!

"What do you want?", I snapped at her.

"Get your ass to the kitchen and lend a hand. My poor boys are working all alone and you've been sleeping here for hours. Wake up already, Alana." When I did not move, she pulled my blanket away, took my bottle from the stand beside and began pouring the water on me slowly. And that was my cue.

"Okay, okay, okay! I'm awake! I'm awake! I'll be there soon. Fine?"

"That's like my good girl", she ruffled my hair.

I sighed and brushed my teeth and went to the kitchen. The house was filled with a beautiful aroma. When my eyes fell on the table, my stomach started to grumble. I reached for a cinnamon roll but Ellis patted my hand away and flicked my forehead.

"Don't you dare eat before we do. Help us in the kitchen, sleeping beauty." As he turned around to go back to the kitchen, I hit the back of his head and ran towards Yohan for protection while Ellis' eyes widened in shock.

"ALANA! You almost snapped my neck! You are dead meat today!" He ran towards me while I ran around the table.

"You started it, you dumbhead. Don't blame it on me now!" We kept circling around the table, playing tag.

"Guys, stop it! You elementary kids!", Yohan exclaimed furiously. In an attempt to stop our fight, he too ended up playing tag trying to catch the both of us.

"Run for your life, Al. If he gets us, both of us will be dead meat!" Ellis shouted. We ran away from the table to the garden. Right when we were about to lose him, we crashed onto Beth.

"Uh-oh. Change of plans, Al. Let's get caught by Yohan."

"What the hell, Ellis? Why run away from Beth?" I asked in confusion. Wouldn't it be better to get caught by Beth than by Yohan?

"You have never seen her angry. Angry Beth, can be the cause of your death. Now stop blabbering and run!"

Before we could, Yohan caught up to us and Beth had an evil smile on her face.

"We hit the dead end, dumbhead."

"Not yet." He grabbed my hand dashed through Yohan and we continued running while laughing.

"This is so much fun! I am happy." I shouted in excitement. This is the life I always wanted. Playing around, having fun with friends. But I never had friends beside me. I wish this would continue forever.

But it had to come to a stop. I woke up from my dream to find myself still being stuck up in the Base together with the others. I want to be happy. I want to live. I can't let Dave take away my life that easily. I need to save everyone.

I searched for Mr.Hudson. I couldn't find him in the cafeteria as well during breakfast. After looking around for a while, I found him at Louis' spot together with Yohan, Beth and Ellis.

"What are you guys doing here?" I asked them, confused.

"The same reason as you", Ellis shrugged as if it was the most obvious thing ever.

I thought he hated Mr.Hudson.

Yeah, me too.

"So you mean to tell you're here to dig more about Dave from Mr.Hudson?" With Ellis' trust issues, he would never listen to what Mr.Hudson has to say, at least not this soon. He only nodded in response.
