I sighed as the plane shook again for the millionth time my Social Worker Richard getting up again to go puke. "Such a wimp," I muttered to myself as I looked back out the window of the plane. Seriously the guy couldn't even handle a few turbulences and he always got car sick if the AC isn't on. I sighed my Older Brother Joey has recently gotten custody of me now since he is a legal adult and has a stable job.
But we are having to travel plan since Joey lived very far from whee I was. I was up in Montana at an all Girls Home since no Foster Family wanted me. Why? You may ask yourself. Well when I was about eleven or twelve a Foster Father of mine tried to force himself on me. But I found a hammer by me and slammed it agains his arm; I then ran out to the neighbors house and they called 911. But when they tried to move me to different Foster Homes nobody really wanted as they called me 'a trouble maker'. So they had to place me in an all Girls Home which was filled with older girls.
I sighed at the memories I made with many of those girls all of them wishing me luck when they left. It was weird for me when I was one the leaving this time. My social worker at least let me stop at my dad's grave to say bye one last time. But now here I am on a plan heading to Wisconsin to go live with my older brother that I haven't seen. Since we were separated me being at age ten and him sixteen. Felt pretty weird to me, I honestly thought he would have forgotten me like everyone else.
I walked through the airport with Richard heading to go meet Joey at the exit of the airport. Where Richard and I will say our goodbyes and then I am stuck with a total stranger again. "Joey," Richard called as I kept my sunglasses covering my eyes as I chewed a piece of gum following where Richard was waving to. I looked to see Joey, he definitely did look different I'll give him that. His raven black hair is shaved a bit at the side with the top part trimmed up and cropped up slightly. Joey had grew more he is probably about 5'11 while I am at 5'2 which sucks. Joey of course like me had natural tan skin, but he has green almond eyes like Dad did. While I have Mothers close set eyes but my eye color is a stormy grey.
Joey wore a plain red shirt sleeve shirt that was a bit lose on him with dark blue jeans. He wore black sneakers with a gold watch on his right wrist. Joey smiles big showing off his perfectly straight white teeth as he shakes hands with Richard. "I am glad to see you have done well kid," Richard told Joey "thanks and thank you for bringing Julieta out here," Joey thanked him. They then stopped shaking hands and Joey looked to me "hey Julieta," Joey said smiling at me as he went for a hug.
"Hi," I said with no emotion attached to my voice as I just stared at him blankly. Now I am not usually a complete ass to anyone but Joey deserves me being this way. The last time I saw him which was why I was ok when they separated us. Joey told me that is being in Foster Care was all my fault and that if it wasn't for me. Our mother be ok and Dad would still be alive. When he said that it reminded me of my mother's words, but Dad was the one who told me no. So I slapped Joey and walked off with Richard to go to my Foster Home all alone.
Joey obviously getting the idea I wasn't ok with him put his arms down as this situation becomes awkward. "I'm going," I muttered in an angry tone "just wait for me at the door," Joey called to me, I ignored him but heard what Richard told him. In what Richard calls a whisper "don't worry she'll warm up to you. Plus she has had a chip on her shoulder for a long time," I gritted my teeth together. Fuck Richard's. I have had this 'chip' on my shoulder since my dad died but ever since then the 'chip' has gotten bigger.
But just like Joey said I waited at the door for him as I waited I saw a mother, father, and their two children walk out the airport happily. I envied them, I envied all families that got to live together and never separated, or had your own mother murder their father. "Ready to go," I hear Joey's voice I look to him and nod knowing nothing nice will come out my mouth if I speak. "Come on," said Joey as he walked out the door pulling keys out his back pocket I followed him after I rolled my eyes. Not like he saw that though.
Joey and I get into this four door red Dodge truck that looked kinda new. As Joey drove I looked out the window as we sat in silence. I was truly glad he wasn't trying to talk to me "so," oh for fucks sake. "You excited to start at Madville High School," Joey asked me "I guess better than home school," I grumbled trying to make him get the idea. That I don't want to talk to your stupid ass right now. "Oh yeah Richard told me that you did home school since you were at that all Girls Home," Joey said I clenched my fists tightly turning my knuckles white as I tried to stay calm.
"What you do to get in there," Joey asked "hit my Foster Father with a hammer for trying to touch me inappropriately," I said like it was a normal topic. I looked over to see he was clutching the steering wheel tightly and the look of pure anger on his face. Why did he car? "And who gave you the scar on your right cheek," Joey asked me "look I don't want to talk to your stupid ass," I said raising my voice slightly. "Sorry just you've changed a lot," Joey told me "yeah well when your brother blames you for your parents decision. Things change," I said and saw the hurt look in his eyes.
I looked away from Joey and back out the window feeling angry with everything and everyone. Joey clearly wasn't very smart about topics for discussion that we have with people you haven't seen in many years. But my fingers traced over the scar that went from the side of my head stopping an inch away from the corner of my mouth. This scar was proof that I was a fighter and I planned to keep on fighting till my last breath.
