I wake up in the afternoon to a teary-eyed Nick, sitting on the side of the bed.
"What's wrong?" I ask him, sitting up.
"Sage. She got out when Ondre left and she got hit by a car. I took her to the vet and they couldn't save her. Baby, I'm so sorry." Nick sobs. I hug him and sob into his shoulder. "Ondre feels awful and insisted that he pay for the vet bill." Nick adds.
"My baby." I sob.
"I know. I know." He shushes me. My phone starts to ring.
Audrey (Mom) Jones is calling...
"Hey, ma." I sniffle.
"Hey, sweetie. I have bad news."
"What's wrong?"
"Well, your grandma has cancer, she has a month to live."
