I disobeyed.

I made my decision and chose my father's legacy. What the hell can Marc do?

I murmured while strolling into Buena Corp on a monday morning. The meeting that wasn't held last week was postponed to today. The minute I stepped my feet in the conference room, all eyes fell on me. I brewed a fake smile, complimenting the air in the room that was thick with tension before taking a sit at the rear that was ushered to me.

Not quite long, The CEO, Henry along with Sophia walked in, hands intertwined in the other. I glared at them as I reluctantly stood up with the rest of the board members to salute.

"Shall we begin?" Henry said as he took the usual Boss's seat while Sophia, cocked her brow at me before taking hers next to him.

"Good morning, everyone." Henry greeted and the board members did same. Though Henry had hurt me some days ago, even with all the anger I was feeling, I couldn't dispute the fact he was looking extremely handsome. The way his ash suit snug nicely to his body, I wish I could whisper naughty things to him. I wish I could tell him 'its me, I'm your Eve' but, It wasn't my place right now. I'm currently Rose. There was nothing I could do. I missed my husband so much and it pissed me off when I see him with her.

"Before we begin today's meeting, I would like to say something." Sophia displaced Henry.

I clenched my jaws in anger. That sit she was sitting on, was supposed to be mine. The life she was living with my husband, was supposed to be mine. I should be with my husband, not her. I should run my father's company, not her!

"So, I want to apologize to everyone on this table and everyone that was a witness to the scene Mrs. Rose Sullivan created last week."

I cocked my brow at her when she mentioned, Rose. I wasn't in the mood to listen to her silly speech but bringing up my name... Hell no, girl. "Excuse me ... Sophia, or whatever you call yourself. Are you having selective amnesia?" I had to ask.

Shortly a sounding murmur filled the conference room.

"It's okay, everyone. I understand where Rose is coming from. At the end, I have to be the bigger person." Sophia uttered from her gutter mouth.

I rolled my eyes to her gesture. Only a fool would fall for it. But it seems at this point, I was on the loosing end because most of the board members gave me a distasteful glance.

"Rose," Mr. Martin called, he was one of the highest shareholders in Buena Corp. "Do you have a query to present to us?"

"Yes. As a matter of fact, I do. I do not like Sophia's judgement in Buena Corps affairs. Let's all keep in mind that Sophia is a Novice when it comes to handling a company's affairs. She has zero experience."

"She is the CEO's wife." A lady among the board members spoke up.

"Acting CEO." I shunned her while giving a Stern look at Henry.

"Where is all this coming from?" Mr. Martin enquired.

"You heard me right. Henry is the acting CEO. The company hasn't been handed to him fully. You, me, Henry, Sophia and everyone on this table know what I'm talking about. The late Mr. Buenavista and Eve put alot of effort to raise this company to it's height today and Sophia just thinks she can change everything? Really?"

Sophia chuckled. "Believe me, Rose. If you had told me you had an issue with me, I could have apologized to you. Why bring up unnecessary lies?"

"I want you to step down. The decision making rights were handed to me by the late Mr. Buenavista. I couldn't do anything because of the accident some months ago. Now, I'm back to continue my work and I want Sophia to step down. That's my query."

Once again, there were murmurs among the board members.

"Rose..." Henry called and I shunned him.

"Stay out of this Henry. This is between me and Sophia. Don't even let me emphasize on the rights Mr. Buenavista gave me over his company."

After the murmurs end, Mr. Martin spoke again. "Rose, we understand you but, many of us on this table think Sophia is doing a good job."

"I do not agree, Mr. martin."

"Fine then, we'll vote." Henry spoke next. "Any one who supports Mrs. Rose Sullivan's notion that Mrs. Sophia Exelero should step down, raise their hand."

I watched. I waited. Tried giving signals to anyone. Anyone to support me and be on my side.

It was all in vain.

There was about 2 minutes silence in the conference room before Henry spoke again. "Any one who disagrees with Mrs. Rose Sullivan notion should raise their hand."

In my state of shock, nearly everyone had their hands up and Sophia didn't do much to hide her happiness as she low-key stuck her tongue out for me.

"There you have it. Mrs. Sophia Exelero  wins and is still in charge." The sound of that defeat came along side with a round of applause from the board members.

"I'm happy that due credit was given to who deserved it. Finally, let's go on with our meeting." Henry spoke and I glared at him.

Wtf!!!!!!

"I'd like to say something to Rose, please." A lady, one the top shareholders spoke. "Rose you cannot just come back from a 7 months break, without having any history on how this company ran to pick a fight with anyone. It's not right."

"Mr. Buenavista gave you rights to this company but that doesn't mean you can oppress anyone." Another guy from the board spoke in addition to the lady.

"Keep in mind also, Eve is dead. Mr. Buenavista is dead. He was the founder of this great empire we stand in, fine, were not disputing that fact. But don't forget his regime is over. We now have to look into the future and make new decisions. Fresh ideas. Understand?" The lady concluded.

I frowned and glared with every nerve, every muscle in me. My head was hot and banging because of the anger I was feeling. I was literally a ticking bomb, ready to explode. Once again... I lost??...  I lost to Sophia again?!! Wtf?!

Everything else they said in the meeting sounded numb and I couldn't contain my joy when it ended 30 minutes later. I packed my things about to exit the conference room in a fit of rage, wobbly legs and staggered emotion when suddenly, Sophia appeared in my way.

I glared and fisted my fingers so hard, I broke a nail. "If you don't get out of my way this minute..."

"What.will.you.do? Huh? Don't you dare annoy me, Rose. I'm currently more powerful than you in this company right now. I can throw you out like a stray dog. So don't you dare annoy me."

"I understand how you feel honestly." She sighed joyfully. "Getting the shareholders on my side wasn't an easy job. I'm thankful they pulled through." She giggled. "See, I knew you'd do something stupid like this so ... I just had to act fast and quick. And see what happened, I won. And that's how I'll keep winning and winning and winning and winning and..."

"Sophia!" I trailed her off.

Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. "You are such a bitter woman." She chuckled and flung her hair in my face, before leaving.
