Before I really knew you, your brother would talk to me. The two of you knew my older brother, who was in the same grade as you. Your brother would say hi to me sometimes, and we knew each other from being in the same science class. Your brother and I were also in a bunch of school plays together in middle school; I mostly got to know him after you went to high school and your brother and I were in eighth grade.
I’m not going to get too far ahead of myself, because there’s still important parts to our story that happened at the end of my seventh grade year. It’s funny how we were so close (physically) to each other all that time, and never once thought that we’d ever even be friends.
Life has funny ways of working its magic.
