Madeline's POV:

My head hurts pretty bad. I opened my eyes, and scanned where I am. I rose up from where I was lying and it turns out to be a floor. "Where am I?" I asked myself. I searched for anyone else, and I found one, a dirty guy with white hair lying at the other side of the room. "Lewis? Lewis!" I ran to him. It was Lewis. He's dirty and seems to be weakened. I shook him gently and placed his head on my lap. His eyes started to open, but he freaked out after.

"Lewis, it's me, it's okay!"

"M-Madeline?"

I smiled at him. "How do I know you're not one of Pitch's tricks to fool me?" He asked and I shook my head. I showed him my necklace. "If Pitch were to trick you using my image, he wouldn't add my necklace because he doesn't know what my pendant looks like." I said, and he immediately hugged me. "I'm so happy you found me! But, how did you?" He asked. "Your 'doppleganger', Pitch Black's Dark Apprentice, took me with him. It was a choice to be made, but I figured if I join him, and he appears again I can steal his necklace." I said. "What does stealing his necklace do?" He asked. I looked at his chest and noticed he isn't wearing his. "It's your necklace surrounded by Pitch Black's power. If anyone not affected by Pitch's power be able to steal it, I figured his dark magic will wear off." I concluded. But, it's a pretty smart conclusion.

"Quick, take it off and hide it in you pants' pockets!"

"Why?"

He took off my necklace and placed it on my hand. "Because he'll make a doppleganger out of you. Probably to fool Joy and Dane. Make them join him for some reason." He said, and I kept it behind in my pockets. "And, Maddie, I know you're not an expert in lying, but here and now, we need more of lying." Lewis said. "But, why do we need to lie? Isn't that what made Pitch who he is in the first place?" I said. "You heard Pitch and Mantara's story from Ombric right? He obeys too much. He regret that, and then became the Nightmare King, the end. Now, lying would save us from this chamber. Get us out to the real world." Lewis said.

"I don't know why but the way you say it makes me convinced."

"Yeah, but it hasn't hepled me so far. I just hope it does now."

Sounds of footsteps suddenly came from afar. "Pitch. He's coming again." Lewis said, and I don't know why again but my face is all so sweaty. "Wipe it away Maddie." I said, and I wiped my sweat away with my hands. Pitch was in front of us. "Hello, dear students. And most especially to you Madeline, reincarnation of Rapunzel. That sweet girl! She showed much disobedience from her mother that's why her mother came to me to come and rescue her from Jack Frost. Such a rebel to her own parent." Pitch said. I don't like this story. "So what Pitch? What does Rapunzel's rebellion have to do with my mother and me? Do you think that would stop her from caring for me?" I shouted.

"She didn't sincerely care for you anyway. She's just forced to deal with it. It was a debt to pay."

"What do you mean?"

Pitch wavered his hand and it seemed like a hologram just appeared on top of his palm. "Who is that?" I asked him. "Let me tell you the story of a broken-hearted lady who forced herself to pay a debt on her best friend." I don't want to listen to this story, but I have to. "There was once two girls who grew up together. One has a family, one was orphaned. Let's say, the one with family's name is Luisana and the orphan was Grace." The family girl had brown hair, while the orphan looked a lot like my mother.

Pitch continued the story. "Luisana was so much loved it left a dent on Grace's heart, but Luisana did not stop caring for her. When the world turned its back on Grace, Luisana was the only one to protect her, guide her and love her. Until 10 years came, and Luisana and Grace fell in love with the same man. Luisana gave the man to Grace, and she accepted him truly. But she would never thought that the guy she love would not love her back but loved Luisana. He tried to court her, but she denied because she gave Grace that chance and she doesn't want to betray a friend. Grace could understand this, for all those years, Luisana was the only one who cared for her. Soon, it was reported that Luisana and that man had a baby, but Luisana kept it a secret, of course except to one. Her best friend. That's where you came around, dear."

I widened my eyes, not knowing I was already crying. "Madeline," Lewis patted my back. "I'm an orphan?" I asked him. He nodded and grinned. "Who's my true mother?" I asked him. "Why should I tell you? I don't even know!" He exclaimed and I glared at him. "Who are my parents?! Tell me!" Pitch chortled. "I told you I don't know! Spill it out of me, I told you your past. It's your turn." He said and then laughed weirdly. He went out again.

"Are you okay?"

"No, but I think I'll be. Besides, this will take days until I finally recover."

Lewis touched my shoulder. "It's gonna be okay. I'm telling this to you now in case we spend the rest of our lives here forever and-" I glared at him. "One of the symbolisms your necklace symbolizes is optimism! How would we get hope if you don't show your optimist side!" I exclaimed. "Yeah, and I tell you it's gonna be okay! It's the sarcasm in my statement!" He said and I realized, it was a sarcasm. "And, one of these days, you'll end up showing pessimism, not optimism. It's not always hope, there's a time for fear." Lewis said and he's got a point. "Unless you Forget Everything And Run, or you Face Everything And Rise." I said and he smiled. "I choose the second one." He said and I nodded.

"Ah!" Lewis and I were shocked for the other Lewis showed up again, this time with another victim. It was Joy's mother! "Oh goodness! I think I'm gonna vomit." She exclaimed. "Mrs. DruBern!" She looked up and saw us. "Madeline! Joy wasn't lying!" She exclaimed. "Joy told you about us being kidnapped?" I asked her and she nodded. "And I didn't believe her. Oh my, wot kind of a mother am I? Joy was right. From the start I didn't do anything right. I am a horrible mother." She said, starting to cry.

"No Mrs. DruBern! I think that Joy's regretting now. I feel she wants you back."

"I do hope so."

"Hi, Mrs. DruBern! Your daughter hates me an awful much." Mrs. DruBern looked at Lewis and chuckled. "Oh, yer that friend Joy told me that she hated years ago. Lewis Maron right?" Lewis nodded. "Where are we?" She asked. "We're inside Pitch's chambers old hag." The other Lewis spoke. "And, you go in there." He said, opening the chamber door and pushing Joy's mother inside with us. He closed it again and sat in front of the chamber and ate an apple. "Hm, sweet!" He exclaimed taking another bite of the apple. "You should probably treat older people with respect huh? That's mean of you to do that. You are in no position to do that! Meanie!" He threw the apple at Lewis. "Yeah, so what blondie? Got anything against that?" I glared at him. "Glaring will get you nowhere. Do your own business will you?!" He shouted.

"You know, when I'm insulted, I get really angry!"

"Yeah? I'd like to see a monster coming out of you."

I flared my nostrils. This guy will burn if I get out of here! "Man, I swear Maddie's not the ideal opponent." Lewis said from the corner. "Who are you to pick my opponent, you dumb teenage gramps!" He insulted Lewis! Oh goodness!!!

NOW HE CAN'T ESCAPE HIS OWN FUNERAL!!!!!
