Lewis's POV:
"There it is! The Voltage Room!"
"I don't know guys, it's restricted to students."
Dane said, stopping all of a sudden. "Dane! Come on, just awhile ago, Lewis was the one being negative! We can do this." Joy exclaimed. "Yeah, thanks for making me guilty again." I said, being guilty...again! "Don't take all the guilt! I blew up too. But Dane, let's do this altogether." Madeline brightened us up. She's awesome with convincing others. We opened the door of the Voltage Room and opened up the lights.
"Mr. Plum?"
"I think he's not here."
I said, and they all agreed. We went out of the Voltage Room, and went to somewhere where Mr. Plum could be found. "Where do you think we can find him other than in the Voltage Room?" Madeline asked us. "Maybe in the Technical Arts Room?" Dane said. "There maybe some tenth-graders there since they have their specialization for vocational arts." Madeline said. "Then let's go during lunch. I'm sure it's his rest time!" Joy suggested. "Yes, I agree to that." I said, and we all just went with it.
"10 minutes before lunch. They go out 5 minutes before. So we technically have 5 minutes."
"You could have just said that."
----
The students are already going out of their classrooms for lunch. The ninth graders are also going out of the Technical Arts room. We went in and saw Mr. Plum returning some tools in the tool shack. "Mr. Plum?" Joy called out his name. "Oh, it's you four. I was expecting you would come." He knows us? "Pardon, but can we ask you about the other guardians left?" Madeline asked. "Oh sure. If you help me fix a machine I can't do by myself." A machine? "What is that machine?!" Dane asked, getting all fired up. "Oh, it's you. The inventing geek. Well, it's a cube." Cube? He showed it to us, and that cube was definitely familiar.
"A Rubiks Cube?"
"That's not a machine, it's a toy."
Mr. Plum laughed. "Your minds are so narrow. When you are an inventor, even this simple toy could make such a great machine with great purpose." Dane was the only one listening. I mean, who wants to go and listen to an old man talking about technicalities and stuff? "A machine like what?" Dane asked. "It's your will to think of something that can help you." He said and smiled. "A transporter." Dane said and we looked at him.
"Why a transporter then, young boy?"
"Think of it? When you complete the colors, it can trigger something! Like a portal."
Mr. Plum patted his head. "Good thinking young one. You are ready to meet him." He said. "Meet who?" Dane asked. "Your guardian." Well, this is getting to be a conversation between the two of them. "You think so?" Dane asked again. Mr. Plum looked at him and chuckled. "I know so, boy. I know so." Madeline, Joy and I just smiled at Dane. He's getting what he wants. "What about me? I need to get to my guardian in Winter. And, Winter is just 7 days away! If there are more guardians, we'll never get there in time." I said.
"Huh? Well, well, well! Your guardian was a bit more optimistic unlike you!"
"You mean I don't look beyond possibilities?"
He nodded. "I thought you might not figure it out! But you should always believe in yourself, alright?!" He's lecturing me, but I think it helps me build up my optimism. "And, you are Rapunzel right?" Madeline looked at us. "Is it Joy?" She asked me." Oh don't play foolish lass! You're the one I'm talking to." He said. Madeline straightened up her back. "Y-yes!" She said. "Hm, you're much like your guardian. Optimistic, but pessimistic at the same time. For short, you are bipolar Madeline." Oh, so he really know Madeline's name.
