CHAPTER 26

Surprise???

Katalina's POV

I woke up in the middle of the night due to a wave of power that washed over me. I was now 20 years old and my powers were coming in.

I felt my throat getting dry so I got up and headed down to the kitchen to get a glass of water. Once the water ran down my throat the dryness went away.

I then began feeling hot and sweat started to form on my brows. I teleported to the bathroom and sat under the shower with my clothes on.

I felt irritated and as the heat from my body settled I felt another wave of power surge through me. This time it didn't make me feel bad. I accepted the power and dug into my subconscious.

I was now complete. When I thought all the waves of power had passed I got out of the shower and walked out of the bathroom in my towel.

My shoulder blades began feeling ticklish but I shrugged it off as the wind on my wet back. As I approached the wardrobe a pain so immeasurable shot out from my back. I screamed in agony and withered in pain as Andre woke up and ran to my side.

He watched me, wide-eyed, not knowing what to do. He stared at me then at my back and I knew I had just gotten my wings.

The pain settled a bit. It still hurt but the pain was bearable. I stood and tried using them. It hurt more when I moved them but luckily the wings weren't too hard to control. It felt like a part of me and was easy to maneuver.

I looked at Andre to see he was smiling at me. I smiled back and landed in front of him. "What are you going to do about those now? You can't really sleep with them"

I then pulled back my wings and Andre was even more amused to see that I had control over them. He then hugged me and said "I'm glad you're still you."

"Of course I am alpha, who else would I be?" I asked. He laughed and let me get dressed and then cuddled with me as we fell back asleep.

We woke up around 10 to the sound of people walking around the house. It was odd since the doors and windows were locked.

Then I remembered that Nivea could easily get in without an issue. I sighed when I thought she had come for a last time training session. I nudged Andre to wake up but he didn't.

I tried getting out of his grasp but he gripped onto my waist tighter. I continued hear the footsteps and thought more people were at my house.

They were masking their scent because I couldn't get a hold of who they were. My mind wandered and I thought that maybe the vampires had more balls than I thought and where now ransacking my home.

I had had enough of Andre not waking up so I teleported to the kitchen. There, decorating a three-tiered cake was Catherine.

I quickly teleported back and prayed to the moon goddess that she hadn't seen me. I just ruined there surprise party so now I have to pretend I didn't know what was happening.

I laid down next to Andre and tried going back to sleep. It wasn't working so I ended up staying awake and staring at Andre instead.

I woke up again in an empty bed. Some time ago I had fallen asleep without noticing. I was now in the packhouse though.

When did I get here? Who brought me here? Why am I here? Where all questions that I didn't know the answer to.

Not wanting to cause trouble or ruin something that's supposed to be a surprise, I mind linked Andre and asked where he was.

'I'm at the packhouse in the kitchen, why?'

He sounded truthful so I decided on letting it slide and have him bring me a change of clothes. When he brought me my clothes he also brought in a tiara and a sash that said: Birthday Princess.

I smiled and kissed him on the cheek before heading to the bathroom. After getting ready I headed into the pack kitchen.

No one was there and the place was practically deserted. "I don't appreciate this, guys. Where is everyone?" I yelled.

I walked around the house for a while before deciding on heading over to my house. knew that was where the party was going to be and I was excited.

I walked up the stairs and opened the door, prepared to be surprised, but no one greeted me. I felt sad. heading into my bedroom, I mind linked Andre and told him I was going to make lunch and if he wanted then he could say so.

He didn't answer me and when I tried looking to his mind he was blocking me. Ugh! Some mate he is. I spat.

I cooked some spaghetti and as I was dishing out a plate for myself, a knock came on my front door. I opened it to see warren staring down at me with a huge smile on his face and a bouquet of flowers.

I smiled at him and hugged him. "Happy birthday Kitten. I hope you like these roses. I know they're your favorite."

I nodded. "They are. Thanks War."

"I've got to go but you should read this letter in like an hour or two. Bye now," he said hurriedly. I stared at the letter as I ate.

If they were gonna surprise me, this was the worst way ever.

After eating I watched some t.v. and tried linking to Andre again. He still had a block up and didn't want me seeing or hearing what he was doing.

I decide an hour had passed after Warren had left so I opened the letter. It read:

"In this riddle is where you might find us, answer correctly and surely this will be a success.

Traveled inwards,
To that heart where no one else roamed.
Where only the birds and animals found a home.
Where the pixies flew with an audible air,
And tangles twigs and leaves within my hair.
Ah. I love this place, this paradise,
Where everything is so beautiful,
So still, and so nice.
Where might we be?"

"A fucking riddle? These people are really starting to get on my nerves." I said aloud. I preferred the simpler things. Staying at home and hanging out with friends. Going out to clubs and enjoy myself, travelling and reading are things I prefer to do on my birthday.

This is too much and I'm not sure if I want to follow up these guys. Then I heard Andre's voice in my head. 'The answer begins with the letter F' and before I could ask him what he was doing he blocked me out again.

I sighed. Well, I guess I should try to solve this riddle. I thought to myself. It didn't take long for me to figure out that the answer was 'forest'. I shut off the t.v. and locked the doors and headed through the back door and into the forest.

I sniffed the air and suddenly, "Surprise" had been yelled all around me. Everyone came and gave me hugs and gifts.

"I can't hold all of this you guys!" I said and all they did was laugh. Then Andre came to me and took some of the presents and lead me to a table that held even more gifts.

The party went on smoothly as all my friends helped me to enjoy the party. Harder days are to come but at least I get to spend those days with my friends and newfound family.
