Longer Names Aren't Required

I don't know if this is a wattpad thing, pero pansin ko lang kasi na madalas magpangalan ang mga writers dito ng sobrang haba at komplikadong pangalan.

Examples:

Janelle Anastasia de Castanueva

Wilfredo Calix Ikko Buenaflor

Clarence Alastair Intendencio

Kung ako may pangalan na tulad niyan? Susumpain ko magulang ko. Ang hirap kayang isulat niyan sa papel! Ang haba!

But I get the craze. Kapag nakabasa ka ng gan'yan feeling mo ang gwapo o ang ganda nung character. Mai-imagine mo agad na nakatira siya sa isang mansion, na pumapasok siya sa school sakay-sakay ng isang mamahaling kotse.

The only problem is that the reader would be aware that he's reading a story, that these are fictional characters, and not someone they know.

The point of writing stories is to make the readers experience it. And the only way to do this is to avoid making them realize that they are reading. So avoid little distractions like these unrealistic names so you wouldn't easily open their eyes to the truth na gawa-gawa lang itong storya mo.

My point in this part is that you shouldn't be afraid to name your characters using real name constructions. Pwede mo pa ring pangalanan ang ilan sa kanila bilang Isabelle dela Cruz o kaya'y Jomer Reyes, or the likes. Walang nakakahiya roon. Magiging memorable pa rin naman sila depende sa kung anong karakter meron sila.

I am not saying that there's something wrong with naming your character with longer names. Pwede rin naman. Pero huwag naman sanang lahat.
