♡ Part 50: how close they are ♡

he patted sasukes shoulder and smiled. 

sasuke: hmph

they went inside and it was finally 12am. it was christmas and everyone stood beside their significant other while the singles stayed with their friends and awkwardly third wheeled. shikamaru and sasuke stood beside each other

sasuke: she would've been here with me if i hadn't....

he stopped looking down and then shikamaru chuckled

shikamaru: you're right, she would've been here if you hadn't been so bothersome

sasuke: hmph

he looked over to see neji and tenten holding hands.

shikamaru: but thanks to you and sakura, tenten and neji are back together

it was weird to think that sasuke made an example of what not to do. because of his actions, his friend got back together with tenten although it didn't sit well with him that he had been the bait. but then again, he put himself in that situation.

the party continued and people started to leave. eventually, it was just shikamaru, naruto and sasuke who were there

shikamaru yawned and laid back down on narutos couch as naruto started to clean. sasuke leaned against the wall and took a deep sigh

shikamaru: the ski trip is day after tomorrow, are you still going sasuke?

sasuke shrugged his shoulders

naruto: it's gonna be fun y'know

sasuke: but you're there

himself and shikamaru chuckled and naruto continued to happily clean, completely ignoring sasukes usually rude comments. 

sasuke: everyone's going right?

shikamaru: yeah. i'm going too

naruto: the lazy nara boy is going, you should come too

sasuke: maybe..

sasuke started to put his jacket on and took his leave after saying his goodbyes with his friends. it was gently snowing as he walked home in silence. all he could think about was sakura but he knew that it wasn't a good time to go to her house. 

'she probably doesn't want to see me anyways'

sasuke thought to himself but continued to walk home. 

2 DAYS LATER (December 27th)

TO SAKURA

everyone stood together as they waited for the train to come. they were finally heading to the ski house for their mini vacation. everything was going well although naruto was getting yelled at by kushina. sakura smiled to herself and turned towards the girls. hinata held kibas hand as shikamaru awkwardly held his own hand to feel like he also had a girlfriend. typical shikamaru

ino: hey sakura, is sasuke not coming

sakura shook her head 

FLASHBACK

sasuke came over to her house the next day after the party to talk to her. when he went to the other room, she was packing for the ski trip. he smiled at the pinkette and kneeled down

sasuke: for the ski trip right?

she looked up at him and nodded her head

sasuke: i get it now. it wasn't about us, it was about defending whats right

sakuras emerald orbs were fixed onto his dark ones and he took her hand

sasuke: i'll work on it

he gently smiled at her as she did the same. all she wanted was for sasuke to realize what was wrong and he finally did. she leaned in and kissed his soft pale cheek as a small blush landed on his face

sasuke: uh so.... i'm not going to the ski trip

sakura looked at him oddly

sasuke: it's only for 4 days right? i'll just wait for you and we'll spend the rest of the break together

she nodded her head and continued packing. but then he gave her an unexpected kiss on her lips and she quickly gained a rose shade blush. 

sakura: w-what was that for

sasuke smirked

sasuke: hmph

little did she know that sasuke was planning something for her once she came back. the main reason why he didn't go was because he wanted to do something special for her. something that she would remember for the rest of her life

minato: the train is here

the extremely large group went onto the train and all happily took their seats
