Loki's arms tightened around my waist as Tourmaline dove into a free fall. My cheeks burned red. This didn't mean anything right? He just wasn't trying to fall off the dragon. Tourmaline scooped out of the free fall just as we about to hit the concrete sidewalk, scaring a few pigeons. I giggled and Tourmaline began climbing back up. She soared over the skyline of New York.

I spread out my arms to feel the wind buffeting me. I grinned at Loki. He smiled softly. I missed flying just for the fun of it. The sky was where I didn't have to think about any of my troubles and just exist. I sighed in contentment. Tourmaline took that as a signal to start barrel-rolling. I screeched in surprise and Loki tightened his grip. Smoke drifted from Tourmaline's nostrils in amusement. She straightened out and flapped her wings.  I grinned and slid off of Tourmaline's back, plummeting to the ground.

Loki stared at me in horror, while Tourmaline kept flying. "Thistle!" He yelled, and dove after me. I positioned my body so my descent slowed. Loki grasped my hand, we were both falling. "Hold on, maybe Tourmaline can get us!" I laughed. "I used to do this all the time. We aren't in danger, Lokes." He relaxed and held onto my waist. "Okay, darling." His voice was deep and sultry. My face burned. Butterflies flitted in my stomach. Loki was so close.

I placed my hands on his jawline and looked into his emerald green eyes. My lips crashed into his, cold and perfect. He kissed me back. For a few moments it was just us, and it was perfect. I pulled away to gasp for breath. "Thistle... I like you, as more than a friend." Loki pulled me close to his chest. "I like you too." I did it. I confessed. It felt so good. I grinned and pulled him in for another kiss.

Tourmaline caught us just as we were about to hit the ground. Finally. I was waited for you two dumb asses to confess. Everyone could tell you like each other. My blush deepened. Was it really that obvious? Tourmaline rolled her eyes and began the route back to the tower. The sun was just beginning to rise, and even though he didn't say so, I could tell Loki needed sleep.

Wisps of smoke drifted in the corner of my eye. My green eyes flicked over to the direction the smoke was coming from. A group of shadow wolves were running through the asphalt streets. Green magic swirled around Loki as he magically changed into his battle gear, complete with the golden murder tiara.

Tourmaline dove down do meet the wolves. She flew above the human civilians fleeing in panic and tackled the nearest wolf. Upon closer inspection I realized these weren't ordinary shadow wolves made of smoke and shadow. Ivory foam dripped from their smoky jaws, these were the ones that were much more deadlier.

I grabbed Loki's hand in fear. He squeezed my hand and with a shimmer of green magic my blades appeared in his hands. I picked up my blades, newfound confidence in their familiar feeling. Loki summoned a few daggers and we charged at the wolves.

I stabbed the last one through the skull, and it dissolved into ash from under me. "Unusual," I commented. A small medallion lay in the pile of ash. I dusted it off and placed it in my pocket to examine later. Just as I was sheathing my blades a roar sent shivers up my spine. I looked over to its source, a giant wolf bigger than Tourmaline galloping towards us. "Loki, it's the alpha!" I yelled just as it pounced. Loki teleported from under the wolf's attack next to me. I unsheathed my blades and took a fighting stance.

I growled and sprinted towards the wolf. I slashed at it's muzzled. My blades were toothpicks compared to its large size. The wolf bit down on one of my blades, shattering it instantly with its jaw strength. I gasped, it was extremely hard to break elven steel. I threw the broken blade behind me and sliced across the wolf's face. Boiling red blood leaked from the cut. I leaped back to prevent myself from getting burned.

Loki snuck under the underbelly of the beast while I was distracting it with my head-on attack. Tourmaline was guarding the civilians watching in abject horror. I went in for another slice when the wolf bit down on my other blade, also shattering this one. The shards of metal cut into the wolf's mouth. It spit the metal out and faced me, almost mocking me for my weakness. Loki jabbed into the wolf's chest, causing droplets of scalding crimson blood to splatter his face and hands. The wolf retaliated, tearing my gut with its claws. Tourmaline threw me onto her back as the wolf went in for another swipe. Despite being injured, Loki went in for the final kill.

(A/N)

I'm so sorry for not updating sooner. Despite having this chapter planned out since I first started this project, it was surprisingly hard to write. T-T I hope you enjoyed it. I'm sorry for leaving it on a cliff hanger but I must.

See you guys next chapter <3
