Chapter 14: Compromise

Marvin's POV

I heaved a deep sigh after the stressful board meeting.

I can't believe this! How can Tito Harris steal 50 million US dollars on our company? We trusted him and then what he had done? He broke our trust just for the sake of his selfishness!

I clenched my fist and stroke my hair because of so much frustration.

"Bro."

Hindi ko namalayang nakapasok na pala si Clyde. He just sat in front of me shaking his head.

"Bro, I know you're frustrated but it's not your fault. Hindi mo naman alam na kayang gawin iyon ni Tito Harris. Even me I can't believe it."

I sighed, "Yeah and now our branch in U.S. was in the state of bankruptcy."

Nagulat kami nang biglang bumukas ang pinto at pumasok si Dad.

"Clyde, please leave us."

Tumingin muna sa'kin si Clyde bago umalis. Tinanguan ko lang siya at binalingan ang seryosong mukha ni Dad.

Dad walked towards the transparent window of my office so I followed him. He was seriously looking outside before he speak.

"Harris was still a jerk. After all this years, he didn't change. I thought we can trust him but I was wrong. Son, it's not your fault so don't blame yourself."

"But Dad---"

"Marvin, don't stress yourself too much. Hindi ka nag-iisa. We're here and the Board is supporting you."

Ngumiti ako. Tama siya hindi ako nag-iisa.

"Yes Dad and thank you for reminding me that."

"I just need to go into our company in the U.S. Harris must be punished on what damage he'd done."

I was shocked with what he said. Masamang magalit si Dad lalo na at may history of heart attack sa pamilya namin.

"Dad, please allow me to do that instead."

His forehead creased when he saw how serious I am.

"No, son that is my responsibility," may diing aniya.

"Dad I insist," seryosong sabi ko. "I promised I'll do what is right and I'll make sure Tito Harris will regret."

He sighed. "Son, ayokong madamay ka pa lalo na ngayon at bagong kasal ka pa lang," he smirked.

I shook my head. Naipasok talaga iyon ni Dad.

"Tsss...Dad ano namang kinalaman ng marriage ko dito?"

"It's because you have Jenn now as your wife. Ayos lang ba sa'yo anak na iwanan siya agad? Besides, two months pa lang kayong nagsasama."

Napaisip ako sa sinabi ni Dad.
Yeah I know aside from the company I am now a husband who has a responsibility but I can't compromise our company. Not because for the company's money rather for the sake of our employees.

"Dad, I know. But I believe Jenn will understand me."

Dad patted my shoulder, "Anak, pasensya ka na dahil sa kapabayaan ko, namomroblema ka."

"Dad it's not your fault. And don't you trust me? Your handsome and intelligent son?"

Natawa na lang si Dad, "Of course I trust you my handsome and intelligent son."

Jenn's POV

I can't believe may nawawalang 50 million US dollars sa branch ng Company sa U.S. Ang laking problema nito lalo na at marami sa mga empleyado ang maaaring mawalan ng trabaho.
