Chapter thirty two

"Audrey!" Alex yells at me from his bedroom.

I roll over, glancing at my clock. It's almost noon.

"Somebody is at the door!" he yells again.

I groan, "So?"

"Go get it!"

He's awake enough to be yelling at me across the house! Why won't he go get the dang door? I'm still sleeping.

Then I hear the knock again.

And my heart swells up as I remember who's behind it.

Aiden wants to teach me how to swim today. He's got us both a membership to the public pool and everything. Apparently he's been planning this outing for almost a week, just never thought to tell me about it because he thought I'd be mad at Alex.

He was right. I got mad at Alex. Granted, my little brother didn't care that I was angry he shared my secret but I still threw my fit so I'm all better.

I roll out of bed, making a loud noise as I hit the floor.

"You okay in there?" I hear Alex laughing.

"Shut up."

I rush downstairs and smile as I pull the door open to see his smiling face.

"Good afternoon, beautiful." he brushes my hair out of my face, planting a kiss on my cheek.

I grin, allowing him to step inside. He takes in my appearance, smirks.

"Looks like somebody forgot to set her alarm."

I nod, "In my defense we never arranged a specific time that you'd be here."

He chuckles before shooing me upstairs to get ready.

"We've got to be at the pool in thirty minutes." he yells up the stairs.

Alex laughs from his room, "You're taking her swimming?"

I see Aidens shadow walk past my bedroom door as I slip on my bathing suit.

I listen closely to their conversation.

"Yea, but I'll hold on to her the entire time. I won't let anything happen to her." His words are calm and sincere. Not like he planned them out beforehand but like he knew them all along. He won't let anything happen to me.

Alex makes his voice deeper, obvious to me since I'm around him a lot but Aiden might not notice. "Just keep your hands above the water at all times so that we don't have any problems. I like you, Aiden. I'd hate for you to disappear."

I roll my eyes. Aiden could flick him in the forehead and my little brother would be hospitalized for a month.

"Yes, sir. I'll be a perfect gentleman."

Liar.

I throw on a pair of shorts and a tank top over my bathing suit, grab a towel and walk out into the hallway.

Aiden is standing by the door waiting on me, "Good to go?"

We get in his car and head to the community pool. The drive there is quick. When we pull up, I'm surprised to see we're the only one's here.

He signs us in while I check out the water. It's so clean I can see a lost hair tie resting at the bottom. All around the pool is different measures. The shallowest is three feet and that's where I've decided I'll be splashing around today.
