Chapter 33: The Opposite of Chill Vibes

"Don't get caught."

"Understood, Ma'am."

"Now go."

The alpha nodded and walked out of his boss's office, making his way toward his own office down the hall. He entered the empty room silently and closed the door behind him, leaning against it. He threw his head back, sighing.

How on earth was John Kirkland going to get dirt on Alfred F. Jones?

-------------------------------------------------------

After a small detour through a toy store, (because Lilo got distracted) and one in a bookstore, (because Arthur got distracted) the small pack loaded up into the car and Alfred drove to the closest park. The one they were going to was Crystal Palace Park. Lilo happily held a football in her lap ("Soccer ball!" Alfred tried to argue. Lilo and Arthur gave him dull looks, then side-eyed each other. 'Idiot.'), with a big bag full of toys that she was going to give to the other daycare kids beside her, and watched the world pass her by outside.

Arthur was also looking out his window. His mind raced as he watched the world fly by. He'd only been to Crystal Palace Park once before, and he only remembered one thing. It wasn't the cool dinosaurs or the large grounds, it was the two alphas fighting and killing each other over an omega. His family started going to another park when they would visit London from then on. He remembers the omega screams even to this day, scarring his young mind as it echoed behind his eyes, making him question life and death before he even knew what those words meant.

"Hey, Artie. Are you okay?" Alfred whispered beside him, taking his hand that was balled on his lap. The traffic was stopped and Alfred wanted to take the moment to check on Arthur, Lilo having fallen asleep in the backseat. The scent blockers were slowly washing out, and Arthur's scent was flooding into Alfred's senses. He couldn't decipher all his scents, but he knew this one well. Artie was anxious over something.

Arthur looked down at their hands and gave a small smile, looking up to Alfred and releasing the tension from his shoulders, nodding. Alfred gave him a look.

"Artie." He warned quietly. Arthur rolled his eyes and pulled out his phone, motioning for Alfred to wait as he typed.

'I've been to this park before when I was a kid. I only went once, when there was an accident there then we never went back. I'm just remembering the accident, but I'm okay. Let's still go. :)'

Arthur handed Alfred the phone. Alfred read it all quickly, handing Arthur the phone before he had to start moving again. He nodded and changed lanes to make the right his GPS told him to take.

"Ah. Sorry if I brought up anything bad, Artie. But I promise to make sure that nothing bad happens to us while we're there. I'll do my very best." Alfred smiled reassuringly. Arthur smiled back, nodding.

'I know.'

No One's POV:

Peter loved going to the park.

He didn't get the chance to do it often since he was always sick, but when he did go, his dad (and occasional siblings) always made it fun. His dad came home from work early and gave Peter's nurse the rest of the day off because he wanted to take him out. He didn't need to worry about Peter's tutor since they came by earlier in the day.

His nurse, a nice beta named Su, thought it would be good for Peter to try to get some exercise and allowed it. So she packed up and went home to her sisters.

Peter smiled excitedly at his dad. They were the only ones at home all year since his siblings were at that nice academy, but the two weren't close. His dad was always at work in a media place Peter didn't care to remember the name of. All he knew was that his dad had a good job that paid lots of money and that's how he was able to pay for all the people who took care of him and for his siblings' school. Not to say he wasn't grateful! Peter was proud of his dad for working so hard, but he wanted to spend time with his dad too. It got lonely being surrounded by adults who, in the end, were strangers to Peter.
