Third Person's Perspective:

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

She holds her breath as his eyes soften. She tried to crack a reassuring smile ,but it comes out as a sympathetic one. She reaches out as she begins rubbing his back whilst he stared out into the tranquility of the lake.

How it's beauty was enough for eyes to gawk at it, painters to admire it on end. How it simply was enough , how it was able to reach expectations and even exceed them without it even trying. It simply had to be itself and it was enough—more than enough. He envied it, he wished he could be as the lake. He wished he didn't have to put in so much into proving himself. Into showing people that he's still the same charismatic, magnetic, enticing Zane Rodriguez everyone knew and loved.

But now.....now he was no longer Zane Rodriguez. He was just Zane. The boy who had a bitter taste of love at a tender age. The guy who was once the man who had it all. The guy everyone envied, the guy who everyone wanted to be or be with.

Could he ever become Zane Rodriguez ever again?

And if he could...how? How could he redeem himself and his pride?

"I wish I could just turn back the hands of time, you know? Go back to my glory days, when my father bragged about me to anyone who had ears. To a time where I was the guy to be or be with. The days when being Zane Rodriguez was the best and easiest thing to do." He sighs wistfully as his eyes glanced down at his hands resting on his knees.

She chuckles softly, "Your father loves you Zane, that is why he's pushing you so much. He wants you to be the best version of yourself." She reassures, her tone tender like a mother's touch. He turns to face her, her gaze sending shivers down his spine.

"Yeah right. I mean, you should've seen him yesterday Za. His eyes were filled with disappointment and an unknown anger that made my skin crawl." He shudders as he remembers the darkness that clouded his father's gaze.

"Well then, if you want to be the old you again, get back into your old routine. You know, do the stuff the old you would've done." She suggested and he nodded in agreement as he began to say in thought; " I was very participant back then. I participated in almost every club, debate, lacrosse, basketball, chess, math lites and science geeks." He said listing from his fingers.

"Woah, that's a lot of clubs, how did you make time for them all?" She asks bewildered since sports clubs take up a lot of time.

"I did basketball on Mondays, lacrosse on Wednesday's, Chess on Tuesdays and Thursdays I'd switch between math lite and science geeks. Fridays were left out for my 'me' time."

" looks like you had a pretty tight schedule, no wonder you didn't have any friends." She says as he shrugs.

"I didn't need specific friends....the world was my friend." He says as she furrows her brows.

"Well if the world was your friend, where is the world during your troubling times?" She asked with a snicker in her tone. He glanced at her flatly not liking the attitude that was evident in her tone. "You know, you aren't being much of help right now." He says as she chuckles. "I'm sorry. I'm just tryna get you to see that you need specific people you can rely on when you're going through stuff."

"Like you?" He asked with an innocent arched brow. She offered a wavering smile. "Not necessarily like me, but yeah, someone who you can vent to. Someone who you can trust with anything. You know, someone whose got your back. Someone who cares for you, understands you...tolerates you." She deepened especially at the tolerate part. He chuckled as he enveloped her into a side hug whilst the sun began to sink down the clear skies that darkened.

He breathed in the fresh air as she snuggled closer into his side, her skin tingling whilst he glanced down at her from the corner of his eye. Her curls sat on her shoulders as her eyes rose to meet his. She smiled. "What?" She asked innocently as he shrugged. "Nothing. I just don't know how I got so damn lucky." He whispered into her hair as he inhaled its palmy scent.

She giggled as she placed her hand on his knee. "I love you Za. So damn much. Don't you ever forget that." He whispered his tone certain and stern as it trickles her heart. Shivers ran down her spine.

"I hope I won't regret loving you Zane." She whispered silently to herself, but Zane caught her words as they travelled with the wind.

I hope you never regret loving me too.

He thought to himself as they sat in silence at their spot. Their spot hidden amongst the forest trees by the lake that knew all their secrets. They sat at the back of Zahra's truck she borrowed to get there whilst they both tried to control the insanely fast way their hearts beat at.
