Despite objections from his friends telling him not to go, Edwin insisted. He insisted he had to come and see you. Even though Edwin knew they sight of him would set you back he could help himself, he had to see you.

Pulling up to the woodland house, Edwin sat in the car staring off into space. Second guessing his rash decision to come and see you, he reached to turn the key in the ignition so he could turn back but the door to the house opened and a small figure waddled out

He wore some pants and a dress shirt with suspenders holding his small pants up. The baby boy's shoe clad feet stepped on the crunchy fallen autumn leaves before he turned his gaze back to the entrance he had initially come out of. That's when Edwin's world stopped, his heart seemed to be beating in his ears and his stomach had dropped to his feet.

There you stood

A summery dress sat loosely on your body, your hair been done in a messy french braid and you wore sandals that seemed beach themed. Your melodic voice rang through the air as your called for the small boy, he giggled before running toward you, his chubby cheeks vibrating with every step he took. Once he'd made it to you, you swiped him up, laying a kiss on his drooling mouth before wiping him

"Mommy person!" The small boy yelled. It was a signal he'd developed to tell you he'd spotted someone he didn't know and it made you panic, Edwin more before he'd knew his cover had been blown

Before Edwin could do anything his eyes locked in with her beautiful brown ones. The eyes that once held so much love for him held a cold expression. You made your way to his car where Edwin had now moved to lean against the hood

"What are you doing here?" You said coldly
"I had to see you" Edwin reasoned
"So now you think about me after so many years" you said
"Y/N-
"I don't want any excuses from you, I'm done looking for an explanation and I sure as hell don't want your apology" you said, setting things straight

Edwin looked down, catching the big brown eyes of the toddler who looked at him with beaming eyes. His curls fell in his eyes as he chewed on his hand, his drool running down his chubby chin

"Is- is he mine?" Edwin asked after a moment
"Yes" Y/N said after a while
"Can I hold him?" Edwin asked
"Hes not fond of strangers and I'm not in the mood for a fussy baby" you said blandly
"Y/N, you can't just cut me out of my son's life" Edwin defended
"I'm not, you cut yourself out of his life when you left. Remember that part, you left, not me, you did Edwin" you said

You felt the lump in your throat beginning to form making you swallow. In an effort to dissolve the lump as well as swallow your feelings. Edwin had begun looking around in an effort not to meet your enraged and hurt gaze when his gaze caught of the ring that sat pretty on your finger

"I just wanted to come see you, make sure you're happy which by the looks of it you are" he said gesturing to the bubbling baby that was now playing with your lose braid

You sighed, knowing it was better Edwin heard it from the horse's mouth much rather then somewhere else

"Trey and I are getting married in 2 weeks" you said
"I heard" Edwin said letting out a sigh. It hurt him that you'd found salvation else where but then again he had to remember he left, no explanation, just up and gone. He couldn't have expected you to wait for him
"You didn't just leave me but you left him too, and we found comfort in each other's arms I guess"
"Look Y/N, I didn't come here to ask you to explain yourself, I just came to check on you" Edwin said before looking at his watch

And as if on cue Joel began fussing.
"Guess that's my cue, I'll see you around I guess" Edwin said

Y/N simply nodded, turning to walk back to her house. Before entering she looked back to see Edwins Matt black car disappear into the woods, back to civilisation

Since coming back home from work, Trey had noticed his fiancé's quiet mood. She hadn't said more then 2 words since he'd arrived and it worried him. After putting his son to bed he went downstairs where he found Y/N stubbing the pot with much too much force

"If you scrub harder you might create a hole in the bottom" Trey joked

Y/N sighed, dropping it into the water and wiping her hands.

"Edwin came around today" she said simply making Trey tense at the thought that that bastard was around his fiancé and son
"What did he want" Trey said
"He said to check on me?" Y/N said recalling the memory
"After so long the bastard wants to come into our lives and fuck shit up! I swear if he comes around again baby-
"Trey- baby calm down. I didn't fall for his antics, I told him I was with you and that Joel was your son okay" you said putting your hand on his cheek

Trey visibly calmed, it was one of the things he lived about you, you could calm him without even trying. You could calm the anger he'd be harbouring toward Edwin about his sudden departure without breaking a sweat

"I love you and baby Trey" Trey said giving you a kiss Making you smile
"How about you go run yourself a bath and I'll make some popcorn and we'll watch a movie" Trey said flashing his smile
"Caramel popcorn?" You asked
"Anything for you baby"
