I sat cuddled into my boyfriend Josh's lap, we were watching Stranger Things, the 3rd season

"Honestly I think Will is gay he just won't say" Josh said
"What?! Absolutely not- he hasn't hit on anyone and he danced with a girl at the ball did he not?" You countered
"Well, when he comes out don't say I didn't tell you" Josh shrugged

You went to speak again but the doorbell went making both you and Josh look at each other

"Expecting anyone?" Josh asked
"Nope" you said getting up to answer

On the other side of the door stood a man, roughly in his early 40's. He wore a pair of checkered pants along with a black shirt and an oversized denim jacket, topped off with some Air Force ones and those signature glasses you would never miss

"Dad?" You breathed out
"Hi pumpkin" your dad smiled

Without hesitation you pulled him into a well deserved hug, nearly crushing him as tears flowed out of both your eyes. It had been 3 years since your dad had checked into rehab to change his life around and 3 years since you spoke to him. He was visibly better and it made your heart swell

"How you been?" He asked once you pulled away
"That doesn't matter! How have you been daddy" you said pulling him into your home

You'd forgotten about Josh's presence until you walked into the living room to see your boyfriend's eyes still glued to the screen

"Uhh, Daddy, this is Josh, Josh this is my father Brandon Arreaga" you said nervously
"Oh- pleasure to meet you sir" Josh said politely shaking your dads hand "we would have cleaned had we known you were coming"
"Oh it's fine- what are you doing here anyways"
"Oh, I'm your daughters boyfriend" Josh said making you choke
"Well, I suggest you make your way home before I break your kneecaps" Your dad threatens
"Dad!"
